While I enjoy a thriller, classic horror and “scary” books, I refuse to read a book that is filled with graphic and intense violence and physical abuse.
This story of a serial killer is the one and only book that I deliberately decided not to finish.

Eggs I understand that… 1y

#LeastFaveGenre is tricky for me as I read & enjoy books from many genres. I find I gravitate least to Westerns or books with that setting.

Still, I have enjoyed books in or somewhat the Western genre & these 3 books with “Western” tags are in my #TBR.

Eggs Well done 👍🏼 🐎 👏🏻 1y

For me, the genre I read the least and like the least are graphic novels. Not a popular opinion, I know. I love comics in the newspapers (especially PEANUTS and MUTTS), but as a whole book, well, I'd much rather read the book.

TheBookHippie I don‘t like them much either 🫣😝 1y
TrishB I don‘t like them at all. 1y
BkClubCare I enjoy them but don‘t seek them out. 1y

Ruthiella I don‘t care for them either. I‘ve read a few but am always confused about whether to look at the pictures first or read the text. (edited) 1y
Prairiegirl_reading I‘m not a fan of them usually not having ending. Always more volumes but they just….. end? I don‘t get it. However, in an attempt to expand my reading horizons I have found that I do enjoy graphic memoir. Good talk and Ducks come to mind as examples. 1y
dabbe @Ruthiella So true! 🤩🤣🤗 1y
dabbe @Prairiegirl_reading I did love MAUS and see it as the masterpiece that it is. It's just the genre I'm drawn to the least, and there's so many other genres out there that interest me more. 🤗😃😍 1y
jdiehr I haven't read any, but I bought 2 last weekend on my trip. Keep your eyes peeled for my reviews. I have no idea if it's something I'll get into... 1y
willaful I most like graphic memoir as well. 1y
dabbe @jdiehr I will! 👀🤣🤗 1y
dabbe @willaful Do you have a favorite? Maybe I'll give it a try. 🤗 1y
willaful @dabbe Going Remote. Huda F Are You?, Quiet Girl in a Noisy World, The imposters Daughter, Dare to Disappoint are some I've enjoyed recently. 1y
The_Penniless_Author I'm not crazy about them in general, but there are a few that are as good as anything I've read, especially Watchmen and The Sandman series. 1y
Eggs Besides devouring chapter books voraciously, I was a huge fan of what we called comic books in the 1950s. Archie, Winnie Winkle, Lennon Sisters, cartoon characters/Disney etc. These days I like Miles Morales 🕷️, MG/YA topics, Quiet Girl, and graphic novels of books I‘ve already read. There is a huge selection of GNs out there. 🤗🥳 1y
dabbe @Eggs I should expand my horizons and give them another try. 🤗 1y
dabbe @willaful Thanks! I'll take a look! 🤗 1y
LiseWorks I never read graphic novels. I cannot stand them. Give me a book with words. 1y
ravenlee It took me a while to get into GNs. I think of them like poetry: you can blaze through and get some of it, or you can delve into the layers (meter and rhyme scheme for poetry, interconnection between text and images in GN) and have a different experience. Finding the right type makes a huge difference! I‘ll share some of my recs in case any of them work for you. 1y
ravenlee George O‘Connor has an awesome series based on Greek mythology called The Olympians if you‘re a myth-nerd like me; Raina Telgemeier‘s Smile series and Shannon Hale‘s Friends trilogy are great MG/YA memoirs that touch on mental health and have a lot of ‘80s nostalgia value; Fun Home and Hey Kiddo are good memoirs; and the March trilogy is fantastic. Good luck trying new things! 1y
dabbe @LiseWorks 🩵🖤💙 1y
dabbe @ravenlee I'm a myth-nerd, too, so I'll try those! Thanks for the recs! 🤗🤗🤗 1y

#BookBinge Day 6: My #LeastFaveGenre would have to be sports yet Backman‘s writing is so stellar that he has made me an avid fan of the Beartown series. 🏒🥅⛸️

My #LeastFaveGenre is probably self help books. I have a few but I tend to not find them very helpful so they tend to annoy me 😬

#LeastFaveGenre would have to be sports. I looked through a list of GOAT sports books and saw this, which is about sports I‘ll actually watch… and besides the fact that the title is making me rethink if I should actually be watching these sports… I still have zero interest in reading this book. #BookBinge @Eggs @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks

Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks I love to watch some sports, but don‘t care for the books either! 1y
KathyWheeler I read this years ago and it‘s quite good. 1y
Eggs I love to watch tennis 🎾 but the only sports books I read are baseball ⚾️ F or HF. Well done! 1y

Horror would be amongst my #LeastFaveGenre, enough to frighten you in life without purposely doing it by reading a book. Don‘t want the nightmares. Having said that I do enjoy Stephen King‘s non-horror books.

Also add on erotic fiction which I won‘t read.

@AlwaysBeenALoverOfBooks @Eggs

Eggs I‘m in agreement on both erotic and horror 🙌🏻 1y
