I finally read HIGH RISING! One of the first “new” Virago books I ever purchased, I‘ve religiously collected the books in this series but held off on actually reading them for fear that they might be too good?
This was so not what I expected! It was hilarious and reminded me of DIARY OF A PROVINCIAL LADY, but a lot sweeter. Hope to see more about these characters throughout series. ❄️❄️❄️❄️

I am relatively certain that this being available on American Amazon is an oversight (it's still under copyright, because of our stupid system), but that didn't stop me from downloading and immediately starting it, before someone realizes the mistake and it gets deleted from my Kindle. After being further along in the series, it's kind of a hoot to visit these characters at this age.

💸😍When the preorders start trickling in... one more should be showing up shortly. It‘s truly been a summer of Thirkell in my reading and escapes into Barsetshire.

5⭐️ I found this to be the perfect summer read. Wonderfully paired with summer berries, laying under a ceiling fan escaping to Barsetshire on a humid July day. I count myself amongst Mrs. Brandon‘s admirers now.

Look at this amazing parcel from @rubyslippersreads ! Vintage reads and a Green Gables pin and a Betsy-Tacy bookmark (😮) and a “Kitsy Babcock Library Assistant” magnet and a book sign for my library ... and chocolate and a cute Christmas bag, too. 😍
