This is a beautifully written book about one woman's life in Barcelona during the Spanish Civil War, though it is quite slow paced at the beginning.

My daughter found this #VMC edition for me last year, and I'm glad I finished it before my upcoming trip to Barcelona. I hope I'll have time to visit the Plaça del Diamant, where the book is set.

Part 2 of my book sale haul. I returned to the sale and came home with these. I‘m especially happy with the #VMC finds.

A coming-of-age novel about a 17-year-old Catholic girl trying to live up to everyone's expectations. I love these #VMC editions!

I read this whilst my iPad was broken. This is a charming retelling of Cinderella but with a bit of a twist. This isn‘t quite as good as her most famous book cold comfort farm but the telltale wit is here. All of these characters have flaws and are played with but it just ends up being such a riot. I liked and laughed at all the characters, every single one. #vmc
