Blue Castle | L M Montgomery
post image

I remain a #trueblue fan of L. M. Montgomery after all these years. It's been a while since I've read this one. Might be time for a re-read.
@Cinfhen #MOvember.

rubyslippersreads 💙 this book! 5y
Cinfhen #BookishConfession I bailed on Anne and I‘ve never tried any other books by this author 🙈 5y
batsy Yes 💙 5y

merelybookish @rubyslippersreads I've only read it once for grad school! I need to re-read! 5y
merelybookish @Cinfhen That's okay! We can still be friends! 😀 5y
rubyslippersreads @Cinfhen You should try again@! This book is for adults. Or start with my favorite 5y
Cinfhen Ok @rubyslippersreads I will try again...but not today 😉 5y
rubyslippersreads @Cinfhen Tomorrow is another day! Oops, wrong book. 😂 5y

Wolf Hall | Hilary Mantel
post image

#SoaringScores #EntryIntoTheGreatHall #BookishConfession I‘ve never read Hilary Mantel🙈where should I start?!!! Are they all #chunksters ?!?! #PageCountPhobia

SamAnne I‘m wondering too! Recently picked up a couple of her books used. I‘m thinking of starting with Wolf Hall. Other suggestions? (edited) 5y
merelybookish I've only read Wolf Hall. I liked it. It's historical fiction with a slant 5y
BarbaraBB I liked Wolf Hall too. Aftereards I started its sequel, Bring up the Bodies, but I couldn‘t get into that one. I‘ll try again, one day.... 😉 5y
See All 23 Comments
Kalalalatja I have read Wolf Hall, and I wasn‘t impressed 😅 and it is a bit chunky 5y
CarolynM I loved Wolf Hall and Bring Up the Bodies. I'm not looking forward to the last one in the trilogy though. That's the problem with fictionalised history - you know where it's going. 5y
Centique I loved them too but then I love this period of history and I‘m hungry to get a good feel for that world. It will be either love or hate for you I think. So #borrowdontbuy 5y
Cinfhen Thanks for all the feedback @merelybookish @BarbaraBB @Kalalalatja @Centique I think the #BorrowNotBuy is a good idea 💡 and I hear ya @CarolynM although I‘m fuzzy with all my world history 🤪 5y
Cinfhen @SamAnne seems like Wolf Hall is a good place to start!!! 5y
Hooked_on_books I like audio for chunksters, so maybe that‘s a way to go. 5y
Cinfhen I‘ll look into that option @Hooked_on_books Good suggestion 😌 5y
jillrhudy The third book in the trilogy is coming out March 3 with a 300,000 first printing from Henry Holt & Co. 5y
RealBooks4ever Loved Wolf Hall. It's not a tough read, never mind the page count. 💜 5y
CrowCAH I enjoyed the PBS miniseries based on this book! 5y
TrishB Love these ❤️ I can‘t wait for the 3rd! 5y
vivastory I LOVED the following (& it's not a chunkster) 5y
Reviewsbylola You shouldn‘t start. 😆 5y
Reviewsbylola Granted, I‘ve only read the first 150 pages of WH but never again!! 5y
Reviewsbylola I do think Mantel is very talented, but I don‘t have the energy or headspace that her books require. (edited) 5y
Cinfhen Hahaha @Reviewsbylola I think I may be in the same boat as you!!! Head space is KEY these days!!! 5y
BkClubCare I loved the style of Wolf Hall - history truly as it lives and breathes. #SuperRooster 5y
Cinfhen I think I‘m gonna finally give this book a try @BkClubCare 5y
BkClubCare @Cinfhen - the audiobook was pretty good. I think it added to the drama and narrator made it easy to discern characters. 5y
Cinfhen I‘m always looking for audio suggestions so that‘s really good to know. Thanks 😊 5y

#AnglophileApril #BookishConfession #NeverEver have I read these popular books....I‘ve tried a few but bailed on every one 🙈🙊which popular book/series have you #NeverEver read????

vivastory I love a good #bookishconfession I've #neverever read Harry Potter, although I do love Galbraith (aka Rowling's) Cormoran Strike series 6y
Clwojick All of those! Lol. I read the first 4 HP books, but bailed on the 5th. Never read any of the others at all though. (edited) 6y
LeahBergen Hmm 🤔 Game of Thrones? 6y
See All 42 Comments
LeahBergen Eat, Pray, Love. I thought I wouldn‘t be able to stomach it. 😆 6y
BiblioLitten @LeahBergen Me neither. Also, Mortal Instruments 6y
batsy @LeahBergen Same to both of your answers 😆 6y
batsy I've also never read the Outlander series or the Divergent series or the Maze Runner series or a single John Green book 😁 6y
rretzler I refuse to read Twilight 6y
julesG Game of Thrones. Tried it. Couldn't get into it. Like @batsy Divergent, didn't even try. Same with Maze Runner and John Green. 😁 6y
Lovesbooks87 I have never read all of the books that you have pictured! 6y
Cinfhen Woohoo!!! I‘m NOT a literary oddball after all!!!!! YOU ARE ALL MY PEOPLE XX @vivastory @Clwojick @LeahBergen @BiblioLitten @batsy @rretzler @julesG @Lovesbooks87 and I haven‘t read ANY of the other books you all mentioned 😜 6y
Cinfhen Oh wait @julesG and @batsy I did read FIOS by Green but I thought the movie was better 😁 (edited) 6y
jenniferw88 For those who have said Game of Thrones, it took me to near the end of book 1 to become a fan... 6y
jenniferw88 And I refuse to read Twilight! 6y
Megabooks I haven‘t read any of those either. I also have never read anything by Stephen King! 😬😳 6y
Cinfhen You‘re not into vampires @jenniferw88 ??? I‘ve read 2 King novels @Megabooks and they were just ok for me. I read Joyland and 6y
jenniferw88 @Cinfhen I am, but I'm not into romance novels or sparkly vampires! 😂😂😂 i like Kim Newman's series on vampires, starting with 6y
Cinfhen Hahaha @jenniferw88 I love that #SparklyVampires 🧛🏼‍♀️🧛‍♂️ 6y
TrishB I haven‘t read Twilight 😁 but I‘ve been made to watch the films. I‘ve read all the others. Like @jenniferw88 I like scary vampires! 6y
Kalalalatja I have never read LoTR, and any crime/mystery series you can think of gets a big no from me as well 😄 6y
Chrissyreadit #bookishconfessions I‘ve read and loved all of those books.... 6y
Seekingtardis I tried the first Outlander book and I just couldn‘t. I got about 1/3 into it and had no idea what happened so I just put it away! 6y
KarenUK LOTR and Outlander..... never even tried.... also I‘ve never read Stephen King... 🙀 (edited) 6y
emilyhaldi I‘ve tried and bailed on all of them too! (Except LOTR). I don‘t have the patience for series I suppose 🤷🏻‍♀️ 6y
erzascarletbookgasm 🙋‍♀️☝️😬..I think my emojis are self explanatory! 😂 6y
Mdargusch I have never ever tried the top two series. 🙅🏼‍♀️ 6y
Clwojick @Megabooks Same! The only Stephen king book that I read what Shawshank, and its not even really a traditional “scary SK” book 6y
Melissa_J I‘ve never read the 50 shades books, I bailed on the Twilight series after the first book, and couldn‘t make it past the halfway point in the first LOTR book (love the movies though). I have read five of the Outlander books though, but don‘t have much interest in continuing. I love Harry Potter 🤷🏻‍♀️ 6y
StillLookingForCarmenSanDiego I've read Hunger Games and have started Outlander. But I have never read or seen Harry Potter. 6y
Reviewsbylola You bailed on Hunger Games?!? What kind of heathen are you!! 6y
Reviewsbylola What?!? @megabooks Granted, I‘m not a huge SK fan, but definitely try 6y
Reviewsbylola As for the other series you mentioned Cindy, I‘ve read 1-2 from each of them except LOTR. I‘m not at all interested in that one! 6y
BiblioLitten @batsy Me neither. 😁 6y
Megabooks @Reviewsbylola That‘s the one I‘ve thought about trying! 6y
BarbaraBB I have read HP and liked it but all the others don‘t appeal to me at all. I did read a few SK but have sworn to #neverever do that again. The man is such a cliché. I mean the people in his books are. So annoying. 6y
RohitSawant I've been meaning to read Harry Potter for years now. 6y
britt_brooke I‘ve read Twilight, Hunger Games, and LOTR (this one just so my husband would stop badgering me). I‘ll eventually read HP if/when my sons are ready. I read the first one years back but didn‘t feel the need to continue then. Generally speaking, I‘m not usually one for series. 6y
Suet624 I haven‘t read any of those either. And I‘m okay admitting that! 6y
Cinfhen Seems like we‘re in good company @suet624 😍 6y
Cinfhen I love that you‘re waiting to read HP with your boys @britt_brooke 💚💚 6y
Cinfhen And I enjoyed hearing all of your #BookishConfessions @Clwojick @Melissa_J @StillLookingForCarmenSanDiego @Reviewsbylola @BiblioLitten @BarbaraBB @rohit-sawant makes me feel validated in a weird way 😉😜🥳 6y

#BookishConfession: I can‘t stand introductions and prefaces. I feel like a kid told not to eat the cookie before lunch. It just makes me want to stamp my foot and skip it. Make it an afterword instead. I may be interested to read it after the good stuff!

#bookishconfession time: I have never finished the Harry Potter series (got to Goblet of Fire), but I am very invested in Cormoran Strike series and can‘t wait for Lethal White to be released in the US!

Mandigolightly This is SUCH a good series 6y
BooksAtNight @Mandigolightly It is! I made the mistake of binge reading the first three and have been waiting for months for this book! (Well, I still have to wait months but at least now I have a date?) 6y

#Bookishconfession, The Cat in the Hat terrified me as a kid. What if the mother came back before they cleaned up? What if she found out even if they cleaned up? I much preferred the tagged #DrSeuss! #magicalMarch @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks

Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks Love this!!! 💕📚👏🏻 7y
readinginthedark Me too! Well, I wasn‘t scared, more disapproving. But I kept thinking, “He‘s trying to get them in trouble! That mean cat!” 😂 7y
vkois88 I don't think I've read the duck one... I'll have to see if I can hunt down a copy for my daughter 😊 7y

Bookish confession time!
Sometimes I really don‘t like the covers to a book (sorry, authors, but it can detract from your amazingly witty story!).
So I‘ve decided to fix my issue!
Come on other students of the 80s (and early 90s!)!! Time to fold up some book covers!!
Any one else want to share their #bookishconfession ? Non-judgement confessional opens here! Tag me with the hashtag and confess! 😇 😈 📚 ✏️

kricheal Oh my gosh! I remember that being a requirement! Those darn book covers that latest the longest but were so ugly were the ones that were made from plain old brown paper shopping bags. 7y
LibrarianJen I loved book covers, and the ugly brown ones @kricheal mentioned were just a good excuse for doodling! 7y

Still trying to work out the kinks in my Jan-March list for #booked2018 challenge. Having a little trouble with the Unconventional Romance category but thinking this one might fit? Thoughts?

@BarbaraTheBibliophage @Cinfhen @4thhouseontheleft

swishandflick I'd say a bit of time travel makes this a good unconventional pick - especially if you've never read it before! One of my favorites 😄 7y
valeriegeary @swishandflick I haven't. It's my best friend's favorite and I've been thinking it's time to see what all the fuss is about! 7y
erinreads Definitely unconventional. Hope you like it! 7y

Natasha.C.Barnes Do it! Such a fun book. And then watch the series! I think it may be THE ONLY visual adaptation that I like more than the book! 😱 7y
Cinfhen Perfect!!! Exactly what @4thhouseontheleft would suggest!!!! #BookishConfession I still haven't read the series, either 🙈maybe it's time!!! 7y
melissajayne It definitely is an unconventional romance book. 7y
Cortg Perfect choice! The series is really good and I love BIG books! I still have to read the 8th one. 7y
valeriegeary @Cinfhen *whispers* doooooooo it 😄 7y

Made a quick stop at Books-a-Million on my way home this afternoon and picked this up from the bargain section. I‘ve seen rave reviews on #Litsy, but I mostly bought it because I love the cover 😝 #bookhaul #bookishconfession
