Another graphic novel off my TBR!
This was super cute and had a good lesson to be proud of being who you are, not simply accepting what you‘re told you should be.
I got my Litsy TBR down to 99! 😂
K O‘Neill is the monarch of radically gentle graphic fantasy for all ages. Princess Princess Ever After, a middle grades graphic novel, stars two princesses & begins when one saves the other from a dragon-guarded tower. Along the way they make friends, stand up to enemies, & have their preconceptions about what it means to be a damsel, a hero, or a queen challenged. I hope the scene pictured isn‘t too spoilery—it would 100% get me to read this! 👑

I love a book that takes normal story tropes and spins them on their head. This juvenile graphic novel does just that. We have two princesses, one stuck in a tower, and one alone adventuring on a unicorn. Amira wanted to be more than a cook and clean and rule by her husband‘s side princess. She wanted action, she wanted adventure, and she wanted a life of importance. Sadie is trapped in her tower. Her trap is one not just of
What a cute little graphic novel! ☺️
Sending it out to you tomorrow @WanderingBookaneer #LMPBC #GroupG @LibrarianRyan @bibliobard @suvata
4.5 ⭐ What an incredibly sweet, adorable book this is with some great, empowering messages. I was actually chuckling out loud at it in the library (no shame reading kids books as an adult) and definitely let out a few proclamations of “awwww“ as well. I highly recommend it for lovers of fairy tales of all ages.
Decided to do a mini-marathon of sorts and tore through all three of these graphic novels. I enjoyed the artwork and color of all of these stories! It‘s a strong star to July #bookspinbingo and the graphic novel group for #LMPBC (since the tagged book wound up being my #doublespin entry).
What if the princess doesn‘t want to be rescued from the tower? That is until she meets an adventurous princess...
Ultimately we rescue ourselves from the tower of other people‘s making when we stop believing the lies they tell us and go find life for ourselves. Another fantastic Queer read.

This is a cute short comic book style story. The message is good, but I did feel like the story was a bit choppy and the princesses at first seemed weird. But the message came across.
Simple and adorable. Very much a charming adventure for young readers. I am always happy to find books that promote diversity and challenge both gender norms and tropes like this. #comic #lgbtq #TheRainbowShelf
Super cute. I've loved everything Katie O'Neill has done.
Well, it was cute, it was adorable, it was quick! It was also a lovely little tale about two princesses who didn‘t want to conform to society‘s views of them. I especially loved the dancing ogre & Prince Butthead. #24B4Monday #readathon
I need cheering up, so I‘m going with this very cute graphic novel by the author that wrote The Tea Dragon Society. When it‘s a heroic princess that rescues princess Sadie from her tower prison instead of a prince, neither expects to find a true friend.Traveling together, they need to join forces to defeat a jealous sorceress with a grudge against Sadie. I‘m expecting cute, I‘m expecting adorable, I‘m expecting a great story. #24B4Monday #readathon
#BookMail Pt11 I loved The Tea Dragon Society by this author/illustrator from New Zealand. The art is so gorgeous & her stories really do justice to them. I really want a tea dragon! This one is a sort of retelling of Rapunzel, except instead of the handsome prince rescuing sad Princess Sadie from her prison tower, it‘s the feisty Princess Amira. This starts their adventure & working together to keep ahead of the witch that wants Sadie dead.
I don't know, I see the adorableness but I also feel like this #comic is underdeveloped and rushed? It feels a bit like it's still the concept for a graphic novel rather than a fleshed out narrative and rounded characters. I did love the colour palette and the illustrations though, as well as the queer representation appropriate for kids as young as 6-7 and the fat girl and the black girl. #QueerBooks
Couldn't resist taking this all ages comic out when I saw it on the shelf at work tonight. It looks adorable. I've been meaning to read it for a while now! #QueerBooks
5/5⭐ Epic perfection. It deals with so much, all accessible to a younger audience w/o being cheesy or fake. It's cute, funny, quirky, serious, heartwarming. It's about healthy found friendships & love, defying expected gender roles to be true to yourself, dealing w/ fat shaming/bullying, following your dreams, nonviolent conflict resolution, different types of bravery, protecting loved ones...I could go on. Just read it. #queerlitread #projectSAMS
"Because I am no prince! My name is Princess Amira...And I have a grappling hook."
An epic line to join the ranks of Evelyn's (The Mummy) "I...am a librarian!" and Eowyn's (LOTR) "I am no man!"
#queerlitread #projectSAMS
Needed something light after finishing my last book so luckily I borrowed this from a friend.
Absolutely adorable twist on the classic prince and princess tropes. And look at these cute illustrations 😆
#queerlit #graphicnovel
Queer princesses kicking ass and falling in love? Yes. All the yeses everywhere. This was so lovely and charming and wonderful that I don‘t know what to do with myself ❤️
Princess Princess Ever After by Katie O'Neill is an adorable and refreshing take on the typical princess-in-a-tower-needing-rescue storyline. It's a very quick read, but I can't recommend it highly enough!

At 56 pages, this one was the shortest book I have read this year. #shortestbookyouread
Cute, short middle grade graphic novel where the princesses save themselves. Loved the color palette 🎨 in it. Tea Dragon Society is still my favorite by Katie O‘Neill though.
Miss Annabel was my purring reading buddy for this one. #CatsofLitsy
Headlines in our weekend paper. A bit of a damming article. Right at the time when here we are having a "vote"!!!! on same sex marriage. I'm thinking this paper very right wing. Anyway decided I best read the said comic. My partner is a comic collector and sure enough she had it. About to find a sunny spot to sit and read it. See what all the fuss!!! Is about. @MrsMalaprop
Super cute graphic novel. It read quick and was fun. Good representation in younger Aimed fiction.
This was suggested to me by my comic book shop because my love of Princelss. It was a cute story of more self-rescuing princesses who fall in love (with each other).
Just stumbled across the web comic version of this super cute middle grade fairy tale graphic novel (which you can find here: http://strangelykatie.com/princessprincess/nggallery/image/image/) . A princess rescues a princess from a tower and they travel across the land figuring out what it means to be brave and to be princesses. Very short & very sweet. It's a cute story & great (much needed) rep for younger readers.
This was super cute. Beating all stereotypes of girls and boys and heroes and princesses!!! Didn't see the need for all the fat comments, but otherwise it was fabulous.
Super cute, super short middle-grade graphic novel. A romance between two princesses. I would have liked a bit more length/depth/plot/everything, personally, but this will still fly off my library shelves ❤️
A fairy tale graphic novel that challenges gender roles, body image issues, flawed families, and introduces children to a happy, functional lesbian couple. I wish it was longer, or a series. Happily passed this one on to my graphic novel loving 10-year old daughter.
Howie and I are cheating and starting #middlegrademay a little early with this LGBT fairy tale graphic novel. Charming, funny, and hits a lot of diversity buttons, though the story is a little bit choppy and I wish there were more!
I adored PRINCESS, PRINCESS in its original webcomic form, and I'm beyond glad it's now available in print so I can rec it to EVEN MORE PEOPLE! It's an adorable, all-ages comic about princesses who rescue themselves and each other, go on adventures with a cute little dragon and a unicorn who'll do anything for a cookie, and eventually fall in love. I grinned my way through it.
This was a super cute book that addressed a lot of important subjects in a very very short page count. I wish it was just slightly longer- as it's a very topical book and I felt like it could have benefited from a little more depth.
A+ reasons for being a good protector. Would recommend. 😁
Soooo glad I stashed some of my tbr pile at my desk. Forgot until I got to work that I'm meeting people for a movie tonight. #lunchreads #whenyouliveinthemiddleofnowheresoyoudonthaveenoughtimetogohome
This was cute and sweet. It felt a little choppy but it's still a pick for me.
A very sweet graphic novel about two princesses who fall in love. Amira wants to be a hero and Sadie has to learn to be a good Queen. It's a shame this seems to be the only volume. I would have liked the story to allow Amira some more character development that isn't seen in flashbacks or summaries. I love Amira's character design. I have a soft spot for girls who dress as princes. Blame it on my love of Revolutionary Girl Utena.
