Salt Grows Heavy by Cassandra Khaw

Haven't been back on here in awhile, a lot of things had been changing at work and I'mtaking a next bigt step in my life.

Decided to go back to the beginning for SIKTC since it's been some time since I started the series, grabbed it out of sheer curiousity. It's one of the few graphic novel series that I've kept up with constantly.
I really wanna catch up and know more about the monster hunters and monsters.

Wow, what an epic novel! I enjoyed this story very much and loved the variation between storylines and perspectives. The characters grew and changed over time as the plot moved. Still not a fan of Roos from beginning to end of the book, but every character cannot be on a reader's favorites list.

Catching up on House of Hunger today. It's so tanzalizing and frightening. I want to know more about the bloodmaids, the houses, and the Countess; I'm sinking my teeth into this book.

Doing some reading and annotating before switching books with my co-worker.

The book is intriguing. Henderson's craft with horror is so engrossing. It feels like I'm drinking fine wine as I read the book.

Read this for my book club with my co-workers. I enjoyed this novel, especially the footnotes, which are written as facts and personal accounts.

While learning about the fears, joys, struggles, and blind loyalties of the characters, we also learn the prejudices, ignorance, and neglect English nobles and academics uphold in the story.

Readers who love dark academia woven with magic and mystery will find this satisfying from beginning to end.

When I picked this up, my first thought was "this seems like a lighter vampire romance manga to read. I'll give it a try."
I was dead wrong!?

It's drama that feels relatable--and drama that is in the category of 'omg!this MC is going through A LOT--funny, and I can see a romantic relationship building between the main characters. Interesting element in the story is that the MC is a half-vampire; turns into a bat by day and human by night #manga

I ate this story up...and then yelled in frustration at the end wanting to know the rest of the story. Great for readers who like a 70s mystery and the occult. I love the pace and flow of the narration and umpredictable actions of the characters #postYA #graphicnovel

Taking some time read and annotate Youngblood (I owe this book back to a friend).

So far, it's not great, and I'm finding the author is not considering most of the other ideas of vampires that have been printed over the years.

Kat and Taylor relationship remind me of Claire and Bender from The Breakfast Club.
I'm trudging through to give my friend a full thoughts in this story. #spooktober #YA #vampires

A heart-felt coming of age story about the struggles of being an artist, and the realization of seeing others artists around you and reflecting on the unforseen events that unfold when not looking back, figuratively and literally

A pick for readers who enjoy the works of Asano Inio or Obata and Obha #manga

I enjoyed a lot of the lore behind the emperors and other historical figures. I liked how Zachary changed throughout the story, and still showed his flaws. Lastly, I admire the weight and problems that build in regards to blindly trusting gods or divine entities, even when you're connected or chosen by that entity.

Now I have to wait and see when the next book will release. #middlegrade #fantasy

Things have escalated in this volume! It was upsetting to see Caiman leave Nikaido in search of more answers to the strange man in his mouth. But we get to see into the Magician Dimension.

I love how Q Hayashida bonus chapters are lessons and behaviors we learn about the characters #manga #sciencefiction #horror

Great volume! I never know what to expect in this series. Shin's backstory is provided along with how he and Noi met, which explains a lot about them as individuals and sorcerer partners. Also, we get to learn more about the dark magic-I'm concluding its incredibly dangerous when you don't know how to properly use it and it has reverse effects on the user #manga #sciencefiction #horror

I love Shin and Noi and Caiman and Nikaido! Ebisu and Fujita care for each other through actions rather than words. It's hard to pick which pair is my favorite. The mystery behind Caiman's trabsformation into a lizard turns into more mysteries. En, the big boss of all the sorcerers, is a strangely a sweetheart-when he wants to be #manga #sciencefiction #horror

Night of the living dead, Fight Club, and dolls that can replicate the same behaviors as the original person. More and more quirky things come up in this volume, and we get to see the personality's of the pair--Caiman and Nikaido--in The Hole, and the cleaners/sorcerers, Shin and Noi. All the characters are amazing, and I'm blown away by ehat they look like without their masks #manga #sciencefiction #horror

I did not expect this series to have more volumes, and the story has become quite serious. The first volume is an intro into the types of secrets collected and the Inn everyone goes to. All the characters shift to complex as their past resurfaces. The Innkeeper ties everyone to his web of secrets without his past and secrets being discovered. So many questions still, but a great series for horror fans seeking a complex horror story #horror #manga

I think this volume is okay, but I wasn't in love with it--it seemed to lack on the horror aspect for me. The artwork and facial expressions felt off at certain points.

The first volume did remind me of the first volume of a series I've been reading. The 3 main characters plan logically, which makes does make the story feel different. Thank you again Ryan for sharing this volume with me @LibrarianRyan #manga #lmpbc

LibrarianRyan you are welcome. I am on Volume 16 and i have had a hard time finishing the last 3 volumes. There is only 20 and I am bound and determine to finish, but it has gotten a little crazy. 2y

I enjoyed this story a lot. It was weird that the plot shifted from drama to straight up horror. I did appreciate the focus on metal music. From this, I realized I don't mind problematic or unconventional main characters, doesn't mean I like them, but I get invested in the plot. Thank you Ryan for sharing this pick @LibrarianRyan
