This was the book I read over the weekend and finished on my lunch break today.
I love Casey and Dalton and have put book number 3 in this series on hold at my library. Definitely recommend the Rockton series!

Delving back into my book set in the winter with a winter ASMR video going.
I've had three days off work and am both looking forward to and not wanting to go back. I'll be okay tomorrow when the routine kicks in and life is good.
Happy #HyggeHour!

Book 2 of the Rockton/Casey Duncan series.
The story continues in Rockton, a town hidden in the Yukon that is invisible to the outside world. Casey and Duncan are exploring a cave and find the girl they thought had died in the wilderness. But no, she's been held captive in pit in the cave for 16 months. So did the 2 other women who they presumed were lost actually captured by some maniac and kept in a cave? The setting of this book is truly⬇️

Devoured in 3 days, which easily could have been 2. First Armstrong and I'm sad my library doesn't have the first in the series in audio but I got tired of waiting so I just said screw it and started with the 2nd! Honestly, you miss a little but the important background deets are reiterated so it doesn't ruin the story. I loved the Canadian, wild setting and the story. Definitely continuing
Almost at halfway and pretty sure that was the first reference to Timmy's ...which makes sense in a Canadian setting that is supposed to be off the grid.

...I think that's just part of falling in love. You realize you don't want to lose someone. That it would hurt if you did.
Got this bad boy at the dollar store!!! So far it is a fabulous read.
A fast-paced thriller. The mystery wasn‘t as hard to solve in this one but it still retains the dark, foreboding atmosphere and feverish pace of the first.
I probably started this book back in October? And I still haven't finished it 🙈 life has gotten so crazy that I have switched to audiobooks so that I can listen to a book while doing housework, homeworks, filing, and driving haha. Today I am making some time to finish the last 50 pages 😊
Casey, the detective brought onto the scene after the first batch of murders in Rockton several months before, is out searching for a townsperson in the woods with the deputy sheriff when they‘re caught in a blizzard & seek shelter in a cave. There they discover a woman who had disappeared a year prior, starved & tortured, barely alive. Casey begins investigating who held her hostage- a settler, a hostile, or a resident. The reveal shocked me!
Great 2nd in the series. Really enjoyed getting to know the characters more.
I will take winter in Ontario over winter in the Yukon anyday.
I'm loving the Rockton novels for pure escapism. They keep me turning the pages way past bedtime!
Another AMAZING book by Kelley Armstrong. This is the second book in the Rockton series and I hugely enjoyed reading it. I'm a sucker for books (especially mysteries or thrillers) set in Canada, I need way more then what I've come across. I loved the character development in this and I thought it was well paced and really interesting. Definitely recommend it!

I‘ve been in a bit of a reading slump this month, so was tickled when I was pulled in quickly by this mystery, the second in a series set in a secret tiny town in the Yukon, where the setting is almost like one of the characters in the story. A good mystery with a plucky, smart protagonist.
Book 2. This series has a fast-moving plot, and strong writing. I like the characters, and the moral dilemmas of the community are interesting to me. It‘s a little over-the-top, I almost wish there was a paranormal aspect to provide a reason for all the crazy sauce. Trigger warning for violence, though I didn‘t personally find it to be gratuitous or gory.
It‘s been a while since I‘ve read an actual book and not an e-book! But Kelley Armstrong is worth the extra cost 😉 #thriller #goodreads #kelleyarmstrong #mystery #litsy
Juno and I snuggled up and finished this one this afternoon. Another great read by Kelley. The city of Rockton is a character of it‘s own and adding the element of winter just added to it. Looking forward to the third book.

Bedtime starts with a new book. @Amanda23 I think Juno smells you bunny Stewart. 😜

I really liked this one although not as much as the first in the series. The mystery was good and I really loved the way it ended.
Ok the office Christmas party is in the books, I can retire my favorite potential death trap heels for another year and I've had about all the socializing I can handle. Time for a new book and the gorgeous new bookmark I received from @Redy2trvl in the #bookmarkswap.
In Rockton, it's easy to disappear.

I couldn‘t put this book down. I was completely enthralled in the story.
It was great returning to the unknown town and seeing all the characters ago. I liked how Casey grew from the first book. I just like her character and think she kicks ass. I can‘t wait to read the next I‘m the series.
Kelley Armstrong has a new fan.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I can‘t put this book down but I have to since I‘m having a drink with the husband. I got an oatmeal stout from Samuel Smith brewery. Apparently it‘s really hard to get a keg from them since they are located in England. I‘m happy my local pub got one because it‘s delicious! Prost!
A solid follow up to City of the Lost, this is a taut mystery with interesting, complex characters that keeps the pages turning. I'm really enjoying this series, especially the setting of the Yukon and the main characters, Casey and Eric. I can't wait for the next one!
The second book in the Rockton series - looking forward to the next one! A hidden off the grid town in the wilderness offering a safe haven to victims and perpetrators - what could go wrong?
I have read several Kelley Armstrong titles & I have to say that this particular series has quickly become a favourite of mine. I love the concept of a secret town where people go to escape their past. I also really enjoy the characters. The relationships that develop in such an isolated, harsh, and unique environment are one of the main reasons that I can't put these books down. A fun, fast-paced thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat!
Really enjoyed this book and hope there are more to come. Loved the continued character development from book one.
I know I will finish my book this weekend so I'm starting to think about what I want to read next.
This is my TBR stack. I think Norse mythology will win out.
This was a really satisfying second book. The pacing was different from book 1, but appropriate given that Casey has been in the lost town for a few months. What is especially refreshing is that Casey is self aware about her her biases and she tries to analyze why she feels that way. She may not reach any real answers but she recognizes the issues. I'm really looking forward to the continuation of this series. Rye toast with cultured butter
I've had a migraine off and on for the past 7 days thanks to this crazy weather. This morning I'm trying to sneak in some reading while the pain is more manageable. The cats are not making it easy on me. #bedhogs #litsymigraineclub
"I'll die in this wasteland, buried under ice and snow"
A perfectly ominous engraving on the book cover. So excited to start this one.
Book 11. Kelley Armstrong is on my Always Buy list. I read everything of hers I can get my hands on, and she never disappoints. This is a great series so far and I can't wait for the next book!
Really enjoy this series. I liked the pacing of the first book a bit more-I felt like the action here lagged a tad in the middle but I liked getting to know more about Casey, Dalton & the citizens of Rockton & the mystery kept me guessing. Side note: I'm in my car waiting for the library to open to pick up holds that came in & although it's a small 18 car parking lot, it was almost full when I pulled in at 8:50. Pleased to see a 'rush'. #Saturday
I can't get enough of Kelley Armstrong! Loving this new series. Cainsville is still my fav though!
Today's soup is a humble but delicious Creamy Leek, Potato & Cauliflower Soup with Savory. So good for a rainy day. (I confess to two bowls for late lunch/early dinner!) 😋 It would also be good to warm you up when you are hiding in a secret off-the-grid town in a blizzard, like the setting of (one of) my current reads. Loving this sequel even if I keep reading other books.😁 Recipe on the blog today for #soupersundays 🍲Link below #litsycooks
The lengths I go to to be able to read! Got some pages in while waiting to get lab work done . Ouch! 🤕 The coffee is my reward since I couldn't eat or drink for 14 hours.
