A Darkness Absolute: A Novel | Kelley Armstrong

Another AMAZING book by Kelley Armstrong. This is the second book in the Rockton series and I hugely enjoyed reading it. I'm a sucker for books (especially mysteries or thrillers) set in Canada, I need way more then what I've come across. I loved the character development in this and I thought it was well paced and really interesting. Definitely recommend it!

Another amazing book by one of my favourite authors! What a good summer read. I really don't have any criticism for this book, I absolutely loved it and sped through it. I'd definitely recommend this book to anyone who a) love Ruth Ware or b) likes thrillers and suspense novels!

Interesting book! I really enjoyed it and the writing style was really fascinating. My criticism would be that the first half or so of the book was kind of slow paced and then it started going really fast! I think I would would've enjoyed it even more if the pacing was a little better. Still a really enjoyable book, it is a little morbid though, might not be everyone's cup of tea.

RadicalReader @wiesiwies what‘s your ideal thriller that was perfectly paced for you? 7y
wiesiwies @RadicalReader I think something that's more evenly paced, I also enjoy a good ending and sometimes I feel books could spend a little more time on the ending :P but specific books that I felt really happy with were "In a Dark Dark Wood" by Ruth Ware, "He Said She Said" by Erin Kelly and "Perfect People" by Peter James. :) 7y

A re-read from my YA collection. It's definitely a good book, well written, nicely paced and enjoyable but I'd strongly recommend reading the first book (0.4) because while you technically could read this one first it'd be confusing. It felt very easy to read (which honestly isn't bad). Overall a good read!

Where to start with this book? It was AMAZING! I loved that it was set in Canada, I feel like more books should be haha (I'm Canadian so I'm biased) the plot was very interesting and I loved the writing style. I also liked the main character, she felt very real. A really enjoyable book with a good plot. I'm going to keep my eyes peeled for the rest of the series!

The imagery in this book was so beautiful. It was set in Glacier National Park in Montana (I really want to visit there after reading this!) and I really enjoyed the descriptions of the park, I felt like I could picture everything! The mystery was intriguing and the main character was a very interesting point of view to see the story from. Really recommend this book.

Decided to reread this book and it was every bit as lovely as I remember! Very beautifully written and captivating. Definitely a book I recommend. Set in the 1890s in London, with strong female characters, and magic! What more can you ask for? Simply amazing!

What an interesting and captivating book! I actually really enjoyed all the different perspectives, and I thought it added a lot to this book! For me the pacing was good, I didn't feel like there was ever a time where the plot lagged, which was very enjoyable. Overall a good mystery / thriller book.

Wow, I'm so conflicted about this book. It's a beautiful written "Gothic" type novel set in an old British asylum a bit after WW2. It combines some paranormal elements and some "controversial" psychiatric treatments. But the ending wrecked the book for me. What an awful twist, looking back I guess I can see some super vague foreshadowing but I really wish the author had set it up better or chosen a different ending.

Oh my goodness this book was AMAZING! Absolutely blown away, a roller coaster ride from start to finish! The book focuses on the morality of creating "designer babies" and what could possibly happen if one went too far down that road and how other people with different beliefs might react. This was my first book by Peter James and I will be definitely looking for more of his work in the future.

This book was definitely a good one! It is YA and I was able to finish it in a day. I love dystopian fiction and this was interesting from start to finish. It proposed a lot of interesting philosophical questions about life and religion but managing to not come across as pretentious. Even though it was written in 2013 many of the topics are still VERY relevant today and offer unique view points on them.

Absolutely loved this book! Very interesting and it leads you down a path where you think you know the twist but you are very wrong, really keeps you guessing! I liked the setting being in Sweden and the book is originally written in Swedish, the style of writing was really well done (for me) and I liked how it was different from a book written in English first. All in all a wonderful Christmas gift from my Mum.
