Do any of y'all keep a book in your purse in case you find yourself out somewhere waiting on something or someone? In fact, I won't even buy a purse if it's not big enough to hold a book. Pictured: my purse book keeping me company at my child's appointment.

This is my second audiobook! IKIK 🤣 The first one was a real challenge to get through, but I‘m really enjoying this one! I really don‘t know much about Jessica so this is very interesting. I‘m sad that she has been through so much 💔I‘m thinking I‘m going to enjoy memoirs the most that are narrated by that person!

this gave me exactly what I want from a celebrity memoir…it‘s confessional, dishy, and is packed with anecdotes about other famous people Jessica encountered throughout her career. Jessica is very honest about her struggles in life and love, and it completely lives up to the title Open Book!

Honestly this was really quite good! She has a great ‘voice‘ in this, it sounds ( I did this on audio) like she‘s talking right to you. She takes ownership for all her stuff and cuts other people slack ( her dad doesn‘t deserve her grace). I‘m kind of surprised she survived the alcohol, diet pills and ambien she consumed for so long. She is VERY Baptist and that made me roll my eyes a bit. This is me trying to get big Southern girl hair

My boys have driven to Toronto to watch canada ⚽️ play the Honduras in a qualifier. I‘m listening to JS while I clean the grout on my kitchen floor. Oh the choices we make 🤣🤣 but holy hell I can not stand this floor anymore

I read Jessica Simpson‘s story about the movie star - loved all the guesses about his identity on social media. So of course I had to listen to her audiobook. Jessica is so honest about her career and about her love life. She doesn‘t shy away from discussing her toxic relationship with John Mayer and alcohol. I think she would be such a fun friend - she reads well and the emotion is so real. There‘s music at the end 👍💚🙏

Next on audio. Right off the bat, I‘m pleasantly surprised

I didn't know Jessica's story going into this memoir, but after reading it I want to follow her career! She has an interesting journey.

Downloaded this audiobook from Libby. Apparently there‘s a story Jessica Simpson wrote for Amazon about a mysterious movie star - that I can‘t access so wondered if this book would be interesting. Anyone read this memoir or the short story?

Book & podcast rec: Open Book was ghost-written by Kevin Carr O‘Leary, who either has a hold on Jessica Simpson's voice or her songwriting ability translates to memoir. I enjoyed this book very much and thought that Jessica Simpson is a beautiful writer… I applaud her for being so open and raw with her struggles! A very solid celebrity memoir!

An #ImpuseReads based strictly on curiosity & I honestly predicted/expected to DNF it. I‘m happy to say that I was blown away & very much enjoyed it. That‘ll show me for making so many assumptions before even starting it🤦🏻‍♀️

Borrowed the audio on a whim from #Hoopla and was instantly hooked. Jessica Simpson is honest, funny, relatable and willing to share her flaws and strengths. If you grew up listening to the music of Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, 98 Degrees & John Mayer this memoir will really hit some high notes 🎶 In her sweet southern drawl, Jessica shares her intimate moments of triumphs and failures. Very engaging ♥️

Jessica Simpson is really delightful! She reminds me of Gabrielle Union in her accessibility and honesty. She‘s the girl you want to hang with. And she‘s beautiful inside & outside ♥️

I had a feeling I would enjoy this, but I didn‘t expect to love it like I did! Jessica‘s memoir feels so honest, vulnerable, and genuine, like you‘re having a deep conversation with a good friend. It seems like she poured her heart into her words; multiple times it even sounded like she was close to tears as she read. A compelling listen from start to finish! 🎧

I've never really been a Jessica Simpson fan, but I'm glad I read this. It made me realize I should give her more credit for being who she is. I know, this is her side of all the stories but that's the whole point, isn't it? We've all got our stories. And that's what makes us who we are.

Okay, so I am very Southern. Born and raised in South Georgia and I sound like a cross between Scarlett O Hara and Foghorn Leghorn. However, my Southern accent doesn‘t make me stupid. I relate to this paragraph so much. I think that I get underestimated sometimes because of how I talk.

Jessica Simpson‘s essay, Take the Lead isn‘t in the Litsy database yet but I‘m using it for one of my free spaces. Would have liked it to be a bit longer but it is inspiring especially if you‘re feeling stuck and afraid about your current place in life. #BookSpinBingo

Fantastic audiobook. Jessica reads it herself and the honesty and vulnerability she‘s showing here is pretty big. The things that were said to her when she was starting out are pretty appalling. Definitely worth a listen. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I absolutely loved this book. I‘ve always been a big fan of Jessica Simpson and I really enjoyed listening to this audiobook. She did a great job narrating. It was heartfelt and well written. Her stories were relatable and inspiring and nostalgic for readers who grew up when she became popular. Loved the bonus music and really looked forward to this every time I got a chance to listen. This is one that was perfect as an audiobook!

I kept suspending my Libby hold on this book for almost an entire year, and I‘m sorry I did. I‘m really enjoying it. Simpson is so likable!

This quote hit me because I‘ve been known to say that I‘m hard on people, but I‘m harder on myself. It‘s easy to forget to be gentle, to forget that most of us are just trying to (as Prince would say) get through this thing called life.

I am absolutely loving this book. Jessica reads the audiobook and she‘s so emotional during so much of it. She has really put everything out there and poured her soul out into the pages of this book

Whether or not you are a fan, Open Book is an engrossing read that grapples with sexism, abuse, addiction, anxiety and depression, and fame. Simpson is also incredibly likeable and unbelievably candid, you will find yourself rooting for her. An unexpected gem.

Second read, first audio.

There were several moments in this #audiobook that I thought Jessica was going to burst into tears. This is a candid memoir, especially by celebrity standards. She talks openly about abuse, death, divorce, body dysmorphia, alcoholism, and that self-serving douche John Mayer. (I‘ve never liked John, FWIW.) I‘m glad she‘s in a good place now, sober with Eric and her kids. Enthusiastic pick!

2020 #80 This book seems genuine. Sincere. She seems to want to help the reader learn from her mistakes. It‘s not a tell all. It‘s truthful but respectful. Well, to everyone but John Mayer...and he deserved what he got.

I think this is the first memoir I‘ve read about a pop star. It‘s not my typical genre, but all the rave reviews had me intrigued.

I‘ve long thought Jessica has an amazing voice, but never much liked her pop songs. I always wondered if the Newlyweds image was an act.

She definitely gets personal in this memoir, esp about past relationships. She is candid, at times raw, and it‘s hard not to like her. This is a solid celeb memoir.

This book was AMAZING.

I selected this audiobook while scrolling Libby‘s “what‘s available” options. I wasn‘t expecting much, but so far I‘m really impressed with her storytelling abilities.

Up next a library hold that became available. Digital Library Loan #3 for #bookspinbingo.

This is a nominee for the Goodreads Choice Awards for Best Memoir.

P.S. I'm 100% positive she is the Sea Horse on the Masked Singer. 😁

Interesting but ended up skimming through the last section.

I like her better now than I did before reading the book, but I guess I was mostly indifferent before.

I wouldn't call myself a fan of Jessica Simpson's before reading this book. She just seemed like another celebrity in the magazines and I had no interest in reading her #memoir but man I'm glad I read a positive review of it and decided to give it a try. She is vulnerable, authentic, and truly an "open book" with her struggles from childhood into motherhood. There's real substance here and I'd recommend this to anyone who enjoys memoirs.
