Just managed to get this set for £5. Anyone read them? What do you think?

Soft pick. Lacked the wicked cleverness and compelling characterizations of other Black books I've read. 135 #WordSearch words, so there's that. 😁

For the year 2002 I chose this book. This is the second book I‘ve read by this author and although it‘s an ok read I‘m just not seeing what all the raving is about. This just may be an author that‘s not for me. And I‘m ok with that. #19822022 @Librarybelle
Oh No! Its 1 o'clock in the morning...but on the upside, I finished this book. Lol I always get lost in Holly Black's stories of the fae. 4.5/5🍪
I'm currently in a reading slump. So here is a book I read some time ago. I had one of the most amazing experiences with this one. I was reading in a loud gym and was transported right into a scene so deep it was like literal magic. Has that ever happened to anyone else? I'd love to do a re-read of it but don't want to ruin that memory. Holly Black has yet to disappoint me.
The pace is pretty face and a bit erratic sometimes. The visuals are awesome, as expected from HB. More character driven than plot. The book is ok, but definitely a good quick read- especially in fall.
Nearly all of my all time favorite books are by women authors! But here‘s one I haven‘t read or tagged in a while.
I suppose I could have gone for an “international” woman—that could have been Howl‘s Moving Castle, as Diana Wynne Jones was Welsh. 🤔
This book gave me one of the most perfect reading moments back when I read it years ago. When people say they were transported, it was exactly like that. Which to me says the writing is nothing short of magic. Part of me wants to reread it, but part of me is afraid it won't be the same. Have any of you had a perfect reading moment? What book was it?
I flew through this one. I really enjoy Holly Black‘s writing style and this world of faerie. A lot of people have told me this is their favorite of hers, and though the folk of the air series holds a special place in my heart, I enjoyed this! #bookspinbingo
I actually finished a book! It‘s been hard to settle this week as we‘ve got students back from Monday. So much to do but I can‘t wait to see them all again 📚 So this book was a little uneven and the author is still honing her craft, but I really like the way she depicts the fae. They are proud, cruel, and capricious but bound by strict rules which a clever protagonist can use to their advantage. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ from me. #bookspinbingo @TheAromaofBooks
Here is my #bookspinbingo card in the correct order! With the numbers 16 & 20, I will be reading Tithe by Holly Black and Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein. Both are books I own but probably would not have chosen to read this month, so I'm excited! What did you get for #bookspin?
An old favourite, I've probably read it four or five times since I was a kid. Just need to read the rest of the series!
So I set my GR goal to 117 books... Why? Because with the design I chose for my readingjournal that's how many boxes I could fit on the page 🤣
Tithe is actually a reread for me, I remember to have loved the book many years ago and found out that there were 3 in the series. I enjoy Blacks fearie tales!

This dark Holly Black Fairie tale was my first book by her years ago and I fell in love with her gritty, dark view of Faerie and our world. Like her other books it‘s a very mature YA. Lots of disturbing themes and images.
Need something lighter and less real life. Rereading an old favorite.
A fun time, even if the protagonist keeps letting out breaths she didn't know she was holding.
2 ⭐
I had such high hopes for this, but it turned out not to be for me. I had trouble following the story - I thought there were too many plot holes and I couldn't understand how some things progressed. I didn't enjoy the (lack of) explanation about magic and the Faerie world. It's my first Black book and there's so much love for her. I will give her another chance - this was written so long ago that her written style may have improved since.
Excited to start my #lmpbc pick for this new round!

Found my way back to 2nd and Charles 😅 Even though it‘s in the plans for the weekend... 😅😅 (Don‘t tell the boyfriend!)
Got a solid stack; the ones on top are more Garfield books 😬
This is quite fun, but I can tell how the author has grown as a writer since this book was written. Her later work shows more maturity and is more compatible with older YA readers.
I picked up these well loved library books because I didn't already have enough books on my TBR. 😉 j/k After reading The Folk of the Air books I had to check out Holly Black's previous books set in faerie. I am excited!
⭐️ Titanic
⭐️ HP and the Deathly Hallows (Can I pick both part 1&2? 😂)
⭐️ Miss Peregrines Home for Peculiar Children. Such a let down!!!
⭐️ Jake Gyllenhaal and Meryl Streep.
⭐️ I‘ve always wanted a movie version!

🍰Book: Tithe—not sure why… maybe the diner scenes?
🍰Movie: Empire Records… again, no idea why and there is definitely no cake in this movie!
🍰Song: Doll Parts by Hole (“I want to be the girl with the most cake”)

Just finished up my re-read of Tithe and Cruel Prince before starting The Wicked King and going to meet Holly Black tomorrow night! 🙀🙀😻😻
Tithe is also my #remindsyouofyourhappyplace read for #booked2019! I read this when I was in high school and fell in love with folklore and the faerie world, and have been consuming all I can since then. I‘ve reread it multiple times and it always makes me nostalgic and happy. 💛
You can‘t find a better #Costume than faery glamour! #OctoberPutASpellOnYou @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @vkois88
Really enjoyed this book, but I haven‘t read a Holly Black novel that I didn‘t like.
@blithebuoyant Thank you so much!! I love everything in the package... very excited about the book, and this bookmark is gorgeous! ❤️

3⭐️⭐️⭐️ I think maybe if I‘ve read this book years ago I would have liked it better although that is a big maybe. I got this book for my daughter a few years back and I should have read it before letting her read it 😕 the MC is a 16 yo who smokes a lot and also drinking is everywhere on the story and so much more that I think it‘s not appropriate for teens. I don‘t think I recommend this book, definitely not for teens.
I thought the premise was interesting, but I ended up hating the main character. She was not believable and I didn't connect with her at all.
#12daysofchristmas #tenlordsaleaping Lord Roiben, may he be made of ice. My favorite lord, even if he can be a fool XD
Hook. Line. Sinker.
I had never thought of a dark side to faeries. But here it is, in all its technicolor glory. I fell in love from the first page, and felt my heart rate skyrocket with excitement each sentence I went. Such a good book.
Day 2 of #12daysofchristmas is my favorite #TwoTurtledoves, Roiben and Kaye from #TitheAModernFairyTale by #HollyBlack! I believe I've already reviewed this but it was my first introduction to non-D&D fantasy and I adore this entire series.
Definitely enjoyed this book. I love all of Holly Black's work. But this little faery tale was a really unique take. I loved Kaye and Cordy's friendship most. Looking forward to the rest of the series.
I enjoyed this. It was a fun, quick read. I was completely feeling the romance but didn't hate it. I did love the friendship between Cordy and Kaye though.
"One night at dinner I said, 'Mom, you know the forbidden love the Spock has for Kirk? Well, me too.'"
"I hope you aren't expecting some kind of reaction," Kaye said finally. "Because the only thing that I can think of is that is weirdest coming - out story I have ever heard." - Tithe by Holly Black, pg.68
...
(Awesome interaction and an awesome way to come out. I hope there is more of this)
What should I read next? I can't decide... One of these or Wonderwoman: Warbringer which arrives tomorrow?
Holly Black's modern fairy tale series has characters that also show up with Cassandra Clare's Shadow hunters. These books are dark and gritty, just like fairytales should be. #booksandfairylights #booksacrossoceans
Day 9- #backtoreading #anditsaugust For today's photo challenge I found a book that fits both the #alltimefavorite and #quickreads prompts for me. Tithe might not be the shortest book, but I remember reading it very fast when I first picked it up. I definitely credit #hollyblack with introducing me to the beauty of urban fairy tales. ❤️
