A wonderful read that helped me declutter my home and make better decisions on choosing things that spark joy everytime. 💕
A wonderful read that helped me declutter my home and make better decisions on choosing things that spark joy everytime. 💕
A friend of mine asked me how many irons I have in the fire currently. My answer: “[Working at the] Capitol, buying a house, taking a Harvard class, daydreaming about building my business, applying for a new job, teaching yoga, and wondering what my current contract workload will be after session. So — not many?” 😂🔥🧯
This is most of my books, ready for the KonMari method of tidying up (and packing) this weekend.
So. Overall this is a good book. But I don't know if the way I consumed it (via audio) was really the right choice. Also I think maybe re-reading it then incorporating some of the process each time will be more helpful. However some of the things she says I can't really get “behind“.
This was my #DoubleSpin Book :)

So. of course I saw the Netflix show (which I felt was much better to consume than this book) as well as well its on everything! I love the idea of having only things you absolutely love in your possession. I want to do better at that and gently let go of things that do not “spark joy“. I am sure it will be a process.

So I listened to this one the other day. I enjoyed it somewhat but... I feel like it is not “for me“. I feel like its important to have things you enjoy in your life however... I don know here whole part bout emptying your purse every day and the whole book thing. I just can't ... But I will try to only keep what I enjoy, use and makes me smile! So we will see how much of the “Marie-Kondo“ method I actually incorporate.
Definitely need a little help today!
I do love her wardrobe organising and really surrounding yourself with items that spark joy . It‘s definitely helped me get rid of those items I‘m just hanging onto for the sake of it! We do tend to hang onto items for the wrong reasons...... Although im clearly not doing it properly as every few months it‘s time to ‘Marie kondo‘ the wardrobe! AGAIN!!
😂
Book 17 of the year, finished Mar 12, audio
Another in my quest to increase my Nonfiction reading. I had 2 books on hold, this was available immediately and I thought, sure why not.
And ya know what? It actually makes a ton of sense. We are currently in the process of moving, so have already gotten rid of a lot of things. But I know I'll follow these methods as I'm unpacking on the other end of this journey to get down to just the stuff I love
Finished this. I‘ve watched her show on Netflix and I don‘t remember her being so judgy/shaming but I‘m guessing Netflix toned her down. She goes on and on in the book about how the best boxes are shoeboxes and such because they‘re free which goes along with the show because she would show up with shoeboxes and things to help the clients meanwhile she started a shop online where is she sells boxes for up to like $200. Just no.

I had only watched a couple episodes of the show and decided to read the book. I think, extreme as she is, that there are quite a few lessons I will give a shot. I do agree that I feel like my life is in order if my house is in order....at least a little. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
#SelfImprovementSept #SelfHelpBook I don‘t tend to read self-help books, but I did read both of Marie Kondo‘s books on tidying. It helped me a lot. It‘s a work in progress, but I‘ve tamed the disasters that were my closets and drawers. @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @OriginalCyn620
"People with book collections are almost always diligent learners."
Paring down my collection and putting aside, compressed, until a more permanent home for it can be found.
Trying to relax while not at work or packing! Not many nights left here before the big move.
I happened across Marie Kondo's audiobook in my libby app, and thought, why not?! I'm moving soon, it's time to purge. I started with clothes and quickly realized that if I only kept what brought me actual joy... I'd have only a few items and would be washing them CONSTANTLY 😧 I do love her folding methods though!
After reading this book you will definately want clean and rearrange your home! It teaches not only about cleaning, but about mindfulness as well
Does this book spark joy for you?
There has been some facebook controversy of late about Marie's take on decluttering book collections and as an avid book hoarder this particular part of the process did hold a lot of interest for me. Marie explains the book decluttering so well and the whys behind it that now even a book hoarder like me can feel confident in only keeping the actual books that spark joy in me. Definitely worth a read. I cannot wait to uses these methods.
I Konmari-ed my house last year after I listened to her on audio last year. But with everyone going cuckoo over the Netflix series I figured now is the time to better explore LibraryThing and get my library cataloged! Love that I can put my movie collection in here as well, AND my son‘s bookshelves without it going into my “To-read” shelf!
I‘ve been seeing comments about KonMari go from good natured ribbing to snarky to mean spirited. Kondo keeps her personal collection to around 30 books, but advises others to keep what “sparks joy.” I had been on a personal social media boycott. Thinking I‘ll go back to it. That sparks joy for me 😊

“This skirt I‘m wearing does not bring me joy.” Me - 36 pages in.
The Snow continues to fall! And the mailman STILL managed to come, delivered this and i have no clue what it is! I also am saddened by the backlash against Marie Kondo. It's racist and classist and makes me sad. I read her books, am obsessed with her show and never felt she was "pressuring me" to get rid of books.
I used this method years ago and got rid of a husband. Today it helped me expand my library space.
Ohhh mannn...
Getting new tires. I live at Discount Tire now. #AdultingisBoring
For those of you who have shuddered at the idea of getting rid of books I thought you might be intrigued by this article from the guardian https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2019/jan/10/marie-kondo-you-know-what-w...
I thought it bought up the important side effect of people suddenly going minimalist by getting rid of so much stuff and what happens to it.
I think Marie would have a serious issue at my house 😂 To have me pick up each book and decide if it brings me joy would backfire on her end.

Help! I'm trying to tidy and this is not tidied! It just looks like more clutter 😫. Marie Kondo says to get rid of unread books and that is just blasphemy! But I can't live with this either because I can't see them! So I'm asking you to #Showmeyourbookspace be it cart, shelves, crates, how do you do it so you don't lose your mind and would make Marie proud?! Tag me ! @Kayla.Adriena
Listening to Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up while my son unpacks every single roll of toilet paper 😂
#audiobook
It all started with Marie Kondo‘s “The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up.” It inspired me to go down the path of keeping only those belongings that added joy to my life, which opened the door to more awareness of what I allow in. All the books in the photo have inspired me to stay on track.
🤔🤔🤔🤔
I've been pretty inactive because I've started reading these two books and throwing out trash bags filled with things I've held on to for little to no reason. I'm actually done reading both and my living space is almost 100% Konmari'd - it's actually kind of fantastic.
It's a beautiful sunny day so having some ice tea. Dreaming of warmer weather and a tidier home .
