I‘ve read so many good books this year! Hard to narrow it down (I‘m looking at you, #ALSpine 😂) so here are two February books I loved. #12Booksof2023 @Andrew65

I enjoyed this book, it‘s a very sweet little story about overcoming youth, stupidity and poor choices and really, who among us doesn‘t need that?
Well, this was a disappointment. Some books are not meant to have an audio option and maybe that‘s why I didn‘t like this book, but yet for some reason I finished it.

Not a 100% perfect match, but it‘ll do 😀 #pantone2023 #beetrootpurple @Clwojick
This was EXCELLENT!! It‘s about five women who are brought together by an unfortunate situation (don‘t want to spoil anything), but it‘s really about how men in power (the patriarchy) abuse their positions and end up free and clear, while the women wronged end up smeared and disgraced. The author actually had a similar experience running for student council in high school - part of why she wrote this. Can‘t rec enough 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Due to the way some of the story is told I think print would have been better than audio. But I enjoyed the book a lot!
I read this weeks ago and I forgot to post about it! Read for library #bookclub. I‘m currently reading her newest (tagged⬇️) which has me comparing the two. Young Jane Young is about Jane, bit of a Monica Lewinski-ish character, and the lives touched by her relationship with an older charismatic politician. Not everyone in book club enjoyed the various styles Zevin used—emails, choose your own adventure—but I liked it! We had tons to discuss!
⭐️⭐️⭐️ Picture it: Monica Lewinsky meets “The Wedding Planner.” Young intern Aviva has an affair with a much older congressmen. Everything blows up in their faces, because duh. It took a bit too long to set this story up. Aviva‘s (aka Jane‘s) new life is where it shines. She‘s a mom, event planner, and all-around star of her small town. Not a fan overall, but I adored precocious Ruby. 👉🏼 Check out Zevin‘s newest out July 5. It‘s incredible!
I love this author so much and this book did not disappoint me. It was so well written and had so much to offer. At the heart it is about a scandal involving a young woman and a politician but it goes so much deeper. This is a story about what it means to be a feminist, truly and why it is important to keep fighting even when you have been beat down so many times. This book captured my heart and I‘ll remember it for a long time.
Funny #audiobook with great narration! College student Aviva becomes involved with a married congressman and her meddling mom will do anything to stop it. After it becomes public, Aviva moves to a small Maine town and changes her name to Jane. Her precocious daughter suddenly becomes curious about her missing father. I loved the creative style - using emails and a choose your own adventure parody. Fun from start to finish! #AudioMountTBR
After reading “The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry” and just a couple chapters of “Young Jane Young,” I am convinced that Gabrielle Zevin writes characters better than pretty much anyone!
It's cold and rainy here today so perfect for reading. 😊 This story is told from the POVs of four women affected by a political sex scandal: the mother of the young intern who had an affair with a congressman, the intern, her daughter, and the politician's wife. The daughter's section veered into melodrama and I almost bailed but I had loved the book to that point and I figured melodrama is only to be expected from a 13 year old ⬇️
Enjoying a quiet Saturday night with a great book and the Smitten Kitchen version of roasted tomatoes with feta.
HEY, THAT‘S TODAY. Side note: I had to check my phone to confirm that yes, today is May 11th... because really, who knows anymore? 🤷🏼♀️
Up next. Seems to get fairly positive reviews here and I loved A.J. Fikry, so I have high hopes going into this.
Hey @Reggie Thanks so much for this highly entertaining book. I tore through it and smiled a heap - a bit of a buzz after some darker reads.
This is about a young intern who makes the mistake of having an affair with a congressman. However the book is split into five sections - four women and a young girl‘s perspective on life AFTER this event. Only at the end, after we‘ve experienced the repercussions, do we find out how the affair happened ⬇️
Holli and I enjoyed this book!! Good last read for the month 😄
Home with a migraine today, and apparently Kalli doesn‘t think I should read...
I‘m starting my 3 day weekend reading with Young Jane Young. This was popular a couple of years ago on book tube. Has anyone read it?
Hooray for Hoopla! I am hating this book club book, and really don‘t want to waste a Libro fm or Audible credit on the audio just to get through it, so I checked Hoopla AND THEY HAVE IT! Woo hoo! So, I can read something else today and listen to this as background noise at work tomorrow. 🥳🥳🥳🥳
@ItsAngel It‘s here. Thanks for the clovers! I finally a have four leaf clover 🍀 The notebooks are adorable! Thank you @LauraBeth #LMPBC group R
At 22, Aviva Grossman finds herself the central figure in a political sex scandal. This story tells how this pivotal event changed her life and the lives of three other women connected to her. Each one tells their own part of the story. Clever, amusing, and thoroughly entertaining.
I chose this as my Y book for #litsyAtoZ and I really enjoyed. It is a story about four women and their lives-they are flawed and real. The story centers around Aviva, a young intern that has an affair with a congressman. We also have timelines from her mother, her daughter, and the congressman‘s wife. They are stories of strength and perseverance.
Received my #LMPBC Round 4 book! Glad to see you all enjoyed the book.
@ladyneverwhere I still have your book! I have like 170 pages left! It‘s just so hard to read a book with unlikeable characters! 😬😬 I‘ll try and motivate myself to finish it this month so I can get it back to you!
Aviva has a relation with a congressman and of course she‘s the one to blame when they are caught and all comes out in the open. She starts anew as Jane Young in Maine. The story is told from different POVs, which is quite nice.
It‘s the perfect book to read in the plane and kick off my vacation but it‘s a bit too fluffy and chicklit to my taste.

Really enjoyed this! The structure of having it told in 5 sections from different POVs worked perfectly for this story, & I‘m especially impressed that the author managed to write a super precocious kid who WASN‘T annoying AF like they usually are. The message isn‘t groundbreaking or anything but still important & necessary—that women often get treated far worse than equally “guilty” men, & how we have a twisted obsession w/punishing them. 4/5 ⭐️
“Yes,” she said. “I think that‘s it, Ruby. You‘re very wise.”
“Thank you,” I said.
“How did you get so wise?”
“Books,” I said. “And I spend a lot of time with my mom.”
👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻💜💜💜
My mom says the reason people think she is their best friend is because weddings and events give people “the illusion of intimacy.” The “illusion of intimacy” means people “lower their inhibitions.” “Lower their inhibitions” means “people talk and drink and hug too much.”
How can I blame her for leaving? There was nothing for her in South Florida. These people ... know a few punch lines. They don‘t think they are talking about a human being. They don‘t think they are talking about someone‘s daughter.
I do so love reading books with Jewish main characters using Yiddish words. Anyone can toss out an oy vey, but seeing farkakte and narishkeit and such just makes me smile. I feel so seen! 😬
One of the blurbs on this book says it “pulls at the seams of misogyny from all angles” so 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻 #nowreading
@Laura317 Young Jane Young is headed your way tomorrow (or the next day, it's my first day back at work with my students and we'll see how much energy I have at the end of the day 🤣)! #lmpbc

At first I thought I was going to hate this book. I wasn‘t a fan of how it was written in the beginning. And then I realized that each section of the book is written to perfectly fit the character that is the narrator at the time. This was a good way to start of the new year and I loved seeing the story from all of the different view points. #newyearwhodis #litsyatoz #z
Continuing on with my audio commutes. If you totally screw up your life, can you really disappear and start over again somewhere new? I enjoyed following “Jane Young” on her journey to start again. But man beware... the internet is forever lol. This was a fun light read. 4🌟
@Laughterhp we both chose purple as our pen color for #lmpbc. So far I've just been marking things I want to comment on with post its but I need to start going back and actually writing things. . . My purple is a little darker than yours. Do you think it's ok to use the one I have or should I try and find another color? Sorry for the newbie question! 🤣
@Laura317 @emilyjwhit9 feel free to chime in with your thoughts!
Yay @Laughterhp ! I'm so excited to read this for #lmpbc #round4 !!!
@ladyneverwhere Sorry for the delay, finally got the book out to you! It should be there on Tuesday!
