Amazing read, although I loved the first one the most.

Spent my shut-in weekend re-reading this series. It's enjoyable but not something I go back to regularly; though each book is pretty action-packed, I feel like I never get a satisfactory sense of the characters' interior lives. Anyone else feel this way? #YA #reread #currentlyreading

MicrobeMom I have read them all. Loved the first book. The series is worth reading. 5y
hannah-leeloo @MicrobeMom thank you, I'd seen them many times before but couldn't afford the set so was really excited when found them today. Me and the fiancé will enjoy these ❤️ 5y
Soubhiville I read the trilogy but not Four. I agree with @MicrobeMom , loved the first book. The others were entertaining, but didn‘t live up to book one for me. 5y
hannah-leeloo @Soubhiville ah I see, thank you. Should be quite interesting 5y
ElizaMarie I read this quite a while ago. I don't remember them as individual books (as in which ones were better) but I remember liking them as a whole. The movies were also entertaining! 5y
hannah-leeloo @ElizaMarie I've never seen the films so I'm new the story 5y
ElizaMarie @hannah-leeloo oooo I am sure you would love them! Keep us posted :) 5y
hannah-leeloo @ElizaMarie haha I will, don't know when I'll get round to them though as I've just strayed a dinosaur readathon and my tbr list is quite big haha. Happy reading hun 5y
Curiouser_and_curiouser I've just bought the first 3 this week!. I saw the fourth but it was in a bundle with the other 3 so I thought if I truly love the first 3 then I will seek out the fourth. Its way away from when I will read it also as my TBR is planned for the year, although I'm finding myself straying a little. Maybe in 2021? Best of luck with it! 5y
hannah-leeloo @Curiouser_and_curiouser thank you. Fingers crossed we get there eventually haha 2021 possibly. We're fully booked haha ❤️📚 5y
Curiouser_and_curiouser @hannah-leeloo We sure are! 😂 5y

1) Up! 🎈 2) No I wish I could though. 3) The divergent series why did they change SO much of the book? 4) Getting on the lovely Carnival Sunshine for an 8 day Easterner Caribbean cruise! 🛳 See you all on the flip side of that. 😊5) #friyayintro

Dragon Have a fun cruise 🚢! 6y

Mehso-so

Overall these are nice YA books, BUT. My biggest complaint is the love story here. I just didn't feel it. I didn't get why Tris loves Tobias. To me he was incredibly one dimensional. Guy with a horrible childhood and blue eyes. Oh wow. Is there more to him? And all their relationship ups and downs felt so cobbled together from other books, including all the same cheesy phrases used a 1000 times before. 😴😪😴

Sisasuku Don't read my next comment if you know nothing about the books! HUGE spoiler concerning the ending! 7y
Sisasuku I got interested in the books because I heard that the MC dies at the end. I mean George Martin also did it, but he had more than one MC. And after reading the books, to me that is the only really interesting thing happening here. And I like the YA distopian save-the-world thing. I LOVED The Hunger Games. But the Divergent series just isn't for me. 7y

The Lord of the Rings set has not been read yet. I attempted it but it was hard with the way it was written. I may give it another chance at some point.

laurieluna I struggled with The Hobbit for that reason but managed to complete it because it was short. I'm a bit intimidated by the LotR trilogy. 7y
MommyOfTwo @miralunasbooknook I had no problem with The Hobbit. It was written differently then the others. 7y
laurieluna @MommyOfTwo I struggle a little with older books in general. Not quite sure why 😕 7y
laurieluna @MommyOfTwo it does. I've tried to read a few classics but my mind always wanders everytime. The prose doesn't hold me. 7y

These take place outside of Chicago which is one state below me. I love this series and even tho they changed quite a bit in the movies I still liked them and I'm upset that they decided not to finish the last one!
#TakesPlaceNearMe #SpookyOctober

LibrarianRyan They should never have split the last book into two movies. They didn't want to kill off Tris. I think it was brave of Roth to do. Most YA authors wouldn't dare kill off their main character. 7y
MommyOfTwo @LibrarianRyan I agree it was surprising that she died but it worked. I was very curious to see if they would have killed her in the movie or not. 7y

I didn't realize how hot the metal bookmark would get when I took this picture, so I almost burnt my fingers 😂. Anyway, this candle was boring, I want to buy some bookish ones but I don't have the money for it 🙁.
QOTD: Did you like the Divergent series? And, what is your favorite bookish candle? I liked the Divergent series, but I thought the first book was better than the rest.

I loved the first book in this series, was annoyed by the second book and absolutely hated the third. This had so much potential! Without going into spoilers, I can say that while the awkwardness of the second book is excusable (some middle books have "growing pains") I disliked the direction the third book took and the events at the end were unnecessary and useless, not so excusable and definitely hated.

#LoveToHate #BookLove17 @LibrarianRyan

LibrarianRyan I totally agree. She could not write a fight scene to save her life. And all book 2 was fight scene or does he love me? So annoying. I didn't like three because she kept alternating voices. I applaud her for the guts it takes to do what she did, but that is about the only commendable thing in book 3. It was so bad I didn't read any of the novellas. 8y
the.bookish.valkyrie @LibrarianRyan Exactly! I didn't read the novellas either. I'm so glad someone else feels this way! Mostly, I've run into hurt feelings that I didn't "just love it!" 8y

kim.guernsey I feel the same way!! 8y
CocoReads I read the first for book group and while I liked it all right, I've never had any desire to read the rest. 8y
IndyHannaJones I thought the series was overrated. The first one was fun and then.....things just got unnecessary and annoying 8y
Jas16 Agreed 8y
Laalaleighh The reviews on book 3 have been so bad that I never finished the series even though the ending of book two left me with my jaw dropped. 8y
callunakeep I have this series on my TBR shelf, I haven't read any of them yet. 😢 8y
EmilyAnne I feel the same way, I read this years ago and I'm STILL angry that I wasted my time on the third book. The multiple perspectives didn't work, the plot had some HUGE holes that just didn't make sense, and the ending was unnecessary (is that a spoiler?) I just did NOT like this one 8y
hlgreenfield I have to agree on this. I really enjoyed the first book and then the second was really meh - after reading the reviews and reactions ( and some spoilers :P) I never did get round to reading the third 8y
BarbaraJean I ended up really liking book #3 in the end, more than it deserved, solely because of the epilogue. So hopeful & such a beautiful image of community--ending on how we heal each other made up for the rest of the book for me! My biggest issue with #3 was the multiple perspectives. She could NOT write in different voices... they sounded the same! I had to keep flipping back to the start of each chapter to see whose perspective it was supposed to be. 8y
CrowCAH I agree. Enjoyed the first. Blah second. Didn't bother with the third. 8y
Dragon The third book was awful, I was so disappointed 😔 8y
Vulpixen Thank you! I hated this series as a whole, but most of my friends loved it! 8y

I read the Delirium series after this. It made me feel better. YA fiction is hard-core these days, y'all!

I loved the divergent series and I'm sad to say that I can't speak the same for a lot of my friends. The divergent series is amazing. I love the action and the original plot. This is my favorite series of all time. I love tris and four so much. This series is what got me started on reading so much.
