Waiting for Wednesday: A Frieda Klein Mystery
Waiting for Wednesday: A Frieda Klein Mystery | Nicci French
27 posts | 24 read | 8 to read
Another compelling entry in this complex, suspenseful series. "Booklist "(starred review) In the third volume of the bestselling Frieda Klein Mystery series, the brilliant but troubled London psychotherapist returns only to journey into a darkness from which there may be no return. Ruth Lennox, mother of three, is found dead in a pool of her own blood. Detective Chief Inspector Karlsson calls Frieda, hoping she can offer a new angle. But when it emerges that Ruth was leading a secret life, her family closes ranks. Still reeling from a recent attempt on her life, Frieda starts down a dangerous path that seems to lead to a serial killer who has long escaped detection. Is she getting closer to unraveling either case? Or is Frieda just the victim of her own paranoid, fragile mind?"

Third in the frieda klein series is a really good read as frieda comes to teems with the events in the last book and is not welcome back in the police station. A bizarre scam leaves something niggling in her mind so she goes off on a hunt of her own which leads to a mystery about missing young women while Dean remains somewhere in the background. Great character, great storytelling and can't wait to read Thursday.

Leftcoastzen I really liked Monday! Gotta get back to the series. 4y

#WondrousWednesday

1. Oh, so many! Where to start? Let‘s see, there‘s Binette, Minnie, Min, Minute (pronounced Min Newt), that‘s enough, I think!😂
2. “The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat” by Oliver Sacks (but it was sooo good!)🎩
3. What they mostly do is make me doubt my choices...when I read negative reviews, they do tend to steer me away from the book I THOUGHT I wanted to read! 🤦🏻‍♀️
4. The attractive ones do lure me, I‘m afraid. 🖼

Velvetfur Minnie! That's so cute 😊 5y

My dog has a little bed next to my bed. We are both quite happy with this arrangement. He still gets midnight pets, and I don't have to fight him for covers. 🐶😂

LauraJ You have a very reasonable dog. 6y
MicheleinPhilly I should try that but something tells me Queen Pickles would veto the notion. 6y
valeriegeary @MicheleinPhilly you know, I thought Charlie would be like "oh hell no!" But he jumped in it right after we set it up with barely any coaxing and stayed there all night! I was super surprised! I think he was tired of getting kicked and pushed around. ? 6y

Finished book 3 in the Freida Klein Series having read it with @Tove_Reads Love the Frieda character, although she is having a tough time in this book following the experiences at the end of book 2 and felt for her! 😢 Despite this her tenaciousness shone through. This was a really interesting plot line and really enjoyed the book. Can‘t wait to get to Thursday and I strongly recommend this series.

TrishB Great stuff 👍🏻 glad you‘re enjoying them. 6y
Andrew65 @TrishB interesting how all 3 books so far have felt very different and shown us a different side of Frieda. 6y
TrishB She‘s a very complex character! 6y

Andrew65 @TrishB Very, wasn‘t sure about her at first but has definitely grown on me. Love the way she keeps getting in physical confrontations! 😂 (edited) 6y

@Tove_Reads I have now finished the first section of the #FriedaKleinBuddyRead Of #WaitingForWednesday having got up to the end of Chapter 10.

If anyone is interested this is book 3 in the excellent Freida Klein Series by husband and wife Partnership Nicci French

Andrew65 @Tove_Reads Now Finished Saturday‘s section and up to chapter 32. Do you have any theories yet? 6y
Andrew65 Or even about who attacked Paul Kerrigan? 6y
Tove_Reads No theories yet. There are so many characters and a lot going on so I‘m a bit overwhelmed. There are so many kids and their friends, families, angry people, ex-girlfriends and so many others. There‘s the renovation, what happened in the past, Sandy, the murder etc. 6y
See All 7 Comments
Andrew65 @Tove_Reads I agree, there is definitely a lot of different facets to the story. I do wonder how the past story will link to events, indeed even if it does. Although I am enjoying the story, but strange with her not he.ping the police. (edited) 6y
Andrew65 I think the son attacked Paul Kerrigan. @Tove_Reads 6y
Tove_Reads I have been waiting for some more information about the past, because the way the last book ended... I really think the past should continue to be a part of it all. I feel like there is something we don‘t know about Frieda and the police. 6y
Andrew65 @Tove_Reads Yes very limited information about the past so far. You imagine the past will be linked. Strange relationships in the police. Frieda doesn‘t seem to have much luck. 6y

This was my first Frieda Klein novel and I throughly enjoyed it. It took twists and turns and an ending I was not expecting at all! Which makes it even better. I felt wrapped up in each of the characters and hurt when they hurt. I will be going and reading the rest in the Frieda Klein series. 🌟🌟🌟🌟

[DELETED] 2232195534 Oh lovely! You know they are 'Monday, Tuesday, etc'. The author published 'Saturday' this year in the UK. I love Frieda and friends! 8y
Meg11726 @kaysreadinglife yes I just looked up the other books for their titles. Now to find them! 8y
MrBook Nice review 😊👍🏻 8y
bedandabook Love this series. Find Frieda a really well-drawn character who I can identify with. Have Saturday waiting to be read, but putting it off as want to savour it! Enjoy the rest of them. 8y

I am still reading this novel but I am almost done! Between making wedding decor and trying to get the basement done before the wedding (cause that's always a great idea) I haven't had much time to read. But I did buy two new books the other day l. Philippa Gregory's Three Sisters, Three Queens and Barbara Taylor Bradford's The Cavendon Women (and another cute bookmark) 📖📚

Meg11726 Can't wait for the basement to get done. Then I can actually display my books properly and not in boxes and all over the place like they are right now. 8y
Bakingbookworm We are 95% done our basement so I can totally empathize with the amount of work a basement reno takes! Now I have an 18' long entertainment built-in/TV/fireplace/bookshelves so it's all been worth it to be able to display my books (it looks like we even have the same wee owl too). Hope the reno goes quickly and painlessly for you. 8y
[DELETED] 3321848774 Oh dear a renovation and wedding planning... I think if I had that I would go crazy 😂 8y
See All 7 Comments
Meg11726 @Bakingbookworm I really want built ins. Maybe my next home as this won't be our forever home (I'm hoping to soon say we've outgrown it 😀) I have a couple of those owls around, they remind me of my grandmother. So I use them as book ends. Basement is almost done. Thank goodness. 8y
Meg11726 @bookaddictang I'm starting to think I am going crazy or I'm already there! Lol 8y
Bakingbookworm @Meg11726 I spray painted one of my owls white. Good luck on the wedding, reno and reading. You've got a lot going on :) 8y
Meg11726 @Bakingbookworm ohh I like the idea of painting one white. Im gonna try that!!! Thanks and yes, a lot going on but it's so worth it in the end. I've made all my own decor and invites and favors and wine.. 31 more days and then I can relax with my new hubby :) 8y
