pickAnother tearjerker from EH! This one deals with the aftermath of a car crash on grad night in Nantucket, where promising student Penny gets killed and her twin brother is in critical condition. It was sad but compelling and I couldn‘t put it down. 4⭐️

so-soI‘m usually good with Elin‘s many characters and POVs, but there were too many to develop empathy here. On grad night soon-to-be seniors speed into an Ill-fated situation where the driver dies. 17-yo teens and 40-yo parents grapple with individual guilt over the death. Maybe if the focus stayed on either teenagers or parents I‘d have some feels here. Penny, girl, wtf? She wasn‘t even one of the MCs unless in this case MC = many characters ;)

panEh, not my favorite of hers. The setting is lovely, the characters are complex and the topics are relevant but it still fell short for me. so many sad events, lot of angst-ing around without much growth. And while I‘m usually fine with an unlikeable character or 2, must all of them be valid and annoying? And fat shaming. I don‘t want to spoil anything but I wish had known about these: TW for suicide, infant death, infidelity.

pickPoignant and moving. I didn't like most of the characters they were too woe-is-me. Only Hobby and Jake were the exceptions and they carried the story.

panUgh- I'm annoyed and angry after finishing this book that went nowhere. Thought I would at least enjoy a "lighter" beach read- intoned by the false cover. ⭐️⭐️
pickI was expecting a casual beach read for lunch breaks and whenever I didn't want to think too hard... Instead I got death, mental illness, addiction, and dysfunctional families aka exactly my repartee. Perfect (for me) this summer.
Giving this a try. Have not read anything by her before.
