jillrhudy Why must there be movies? Throughout October I was genuinely bewildered. Photo after photo of people's TV screens. I just want to know what people are reading. 5y

Andrew65 @jillrhudy That‘s What has put me off registering at the moment, sounds great fun but I know I want to read books and won‘t find the time or motivation to watch tv or movies. A few years ago we cut out tv altogether and focused on just reading books. Occasionally will watch the odd video clip on the iPad but cannot remember the last time I sat through a movie - even films of my favourite books. @Clwojick 5y

Andrew65 @Clwojick I‘ve had a thought, but feel free to ignore it if you are not happy with it after all it is your game. At the moment you have ‘5 points = Holiday Movie/TV Episode Watched‘ For those of us that do not want to watch a film or tv episode could people earn 5 bonus points (on top of points for the different reads already suggested) for reading a book that has been made into a film? As I say just a suggestion and won‘t take it personally 👇 5y

Clwojick Ohhh. Yes! I love that idea. The reason we added movies to our events is because people have certain movies that are part of their family traditions. Every year I watch Beetlejuice at Halloween, and the Grinch and Elf at Christmas. It‘s actually a big part of my holiday memories... not to mention it‘s an easy way for those busy with little ones to still contribute to the teams overall points. I love the idea of gaining extra points for reading ⬇️ 5y

Andrew65 @Clwojick 😊 As our children have flown the nest and are in the forces so usually not home at Christmas we‘ve really lost the tradition of watching movies but remember Mary Poppins, Sound of Music, Wizard of Oz, Christmas Carol and It‘s a Wonderful life well. @StayCurious (edited) 5y

Clwojick @Crimson613 Your TBR is just your personal list of books you want to read. You can stack them in this app. But if you have a “to read“ list on any other app, or a handwritten list that works too... As well as the obvious unread books that you own. My TBR is in the thousands, so i have to work on lowering that. 😅 5y

coffees @Clwojick i see, i've only added two on litsy to my stacks but i do have a tbr on goodreads and a ton of books i own that need to be read ^^;;; so those would work? would i need to share them on litsy? i guess idk how the tbr points would be calculated... 5y

Clwojick @Crimson613 no, you dont need to add them on prior to the start of the event. When you finish reading a book that month, you would simply tag myself and @stayCurious, and your team captain... if you choose not to be a TC yourself, and then use the hashtag #TBRread if its one you've been meaning to read, or #ImpulseRead if it's a book that is completely new to you, but you came across on Libby or at the Library and decided to read. 5y

Clwojick @Crimson613 So long as everyone uses #ImpulseRead, #TBRread, or #HolidayRead their team captain will be able to easily track their points. 5y

Insightsintobooks I have a question.... I know its more christmas themed and to be honest we do do a bit of Christmas at our house but we are Jewish and to hannukah as well.... could I post Hannukah related things for the winter games?? 5y

A lot of the games with be Christmas related because that was was I was able to find, but if you have any suggestion for Hanukkah games or posts that you find please send them my way and we can repost them for points. Hello my lovely Littens! After the complete success of #Scarathlon, I knew I‘d have to get something in the works for a Christmas/Winter themed event. Unfortunately, @TheReadingMermaid will not be able to cohost this event with me, so before I fully plan #WinterGames, I thought I would like to see how many people are interested in participating, and if needed would anyone be willing to be a team captain.

Clwojick As with the Halloween event, there will be a point value for different things. Reading books, watching movies or shows, and playing a ton of games! Since Xmas is all about spending time with family, there will be a few additional mini challenges up for points, as well. Please comment if you‘d be interested in participating. Clwojick @Scochrane26 You don‘t have to do anything you don‘t want to, Love. There will be a point value for Xmas books and movies, but there will also be a point value for all other genres. We won‘t be separating specific genres like we did with mystery/horror for Halloween. 5y

Clwojick @StayCurious Oh thank you thank you! I‘m hoping to break it down into smaller teams to make it a bit easier on the team captains for point tracking. I was easily spending an hour or two a day tracking all the TeamSlaughter points 😂 I know that‘s a lot to ask out of someone, especially around the holidays, so smaller teams should make things easier 5y

Laughterhp I‘d be interested. I‘ll probably be busy in December so may not to participate as much as I did in October. I‘ve already started making lists of Xmas books I want to read! 5y

LibrarianRyan I could be persuaded to be a captain. I have a lot of time off in December. I will have a few days in No-Man's land (my parents house on the nature preserve.) right around Christmas but I can play catch up. I get some cell service, but not much and not fast. But pops will bring the hot spot home and that will help. 5y

Clwojick @Riveted_Reader_Melissa I just posted the signup form which has the point breakdown. The reading may still fit into your plans, as the points are for impulse vs TBR, as opposed to set genres. Xmas books are obviously still on there though 😉 5y

alisiakae Depends on how Christmasy it is. I don‘t read many Xmas books and don‘t celebrate the holiday, but if it is multiple holiday inclusive (Chanukah, Yule etc), then maybe. Unless I can be the Grinch or Scrooge. 😂😂😂 5y
