What I've read so far in June
I know this book is a satire, but the genuine love the characters feel is so good and real. And the jokes! Every single Penelope Six-Names/Eight-Names bit made me snicker. #contemporaryromance #satire
I admit I get a silly kick out of the ordinary girl becoming a princess trope, but at the same time, I might have been most engaged by the complicated relationship between Bex & her sister. It all added up to just the right amount of tangled tension. It wasn't perfect, as Bex seemed to lose more & more of her own sense of self as the book went on, and I was never quite convinced that she'd found it again. But it wrapped up sweetly.
The Royal We is unashamed Will and Kate fan fiction (at best), but it is also soapy fun. The perfect mindless, fluffy read. You will devour this book in a weekend.
This one was easy to get through. Wouldn‘t say it was very original but it provided the escape I needed. The plot was a little too close to real life for me. I will still 100% read the sequel.
This was such a funny, delightful read. I dnf'd around a handful of books before getting into it so I'm glad I gave it a shot, and now I've got The Heir Affair on hold on Libby.
Last book of 2020.
BI ERASURE
I loved this book! I want a story with just the ladies in this book, Bex, Bea, lacy and Cilla. But it was all so good. (Ppl said it was inspired by Kate Middleton and I adore her).
Re-reading before I read the sequel (𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘏𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘈𝘧𝘧𝘢𝘪𝘳). Enjoyed it just as much as the first time. Light frothy read.

For a romance about a normal girl and a prince falling in love, the characters actually seemed pretty realistic. This is a fun, quick read for a little escapism.
While I understand the likely intent of the author to begin with a prologue that reveals the protagonist‘s fate and conclusion of the novel, I‘m not sure it works. I think it diminishes the story arc, removing a lot of the speculation and emotional investment in the book, and it‘s characters, along with the wonder that would exist otherwise. Read Red, White, & Royal Blue instead; it‘s a much better novel in every way.
The first half really dragged but things picked up in the second half. I don‘t think I‘m going to continue with the series.
I needed something light this weekend and this hit the spot. It is (not so) loosely based on Kate Middleton and Prince William with a heavy dose of snark which is not surprising since the authors also created the Go Fug Yourself blog. I am greatly looking forward the sequel which will be out this June.
I had heard so much about this - and most of it positive. But it was such a let down for me. Everyone is horrid. You never really get a sense of why Bex and Nick are a good couple - or why she thinks it‘s worth it. And so many terrible decisions. Not a person you‘re rooting for among them. Sigh.

This book starts good and builds to an insane finale that I could not put down. It's very clearly inspired by Will and Kate, and the British royal family. It's another very fun royal romance.

Having a newborn at home certainly slowed my reading, but those late night nursing sessions allowed me to fit in some kindle time. Lighter books are definitely appealing to my sleep-deprived brain right now.
Happy anniversary Duke & Duchess of Sussex! You inspired my reading selection today...
On sale today from audible! So glad I checked today! #audible #theroyalwe
Happy Mother‘s Day from #Chloe and me! We‘re spending it so far snuggled up on the couch. I‘m reading the tagged book and she‘s taking a very thorough cat bath. My actual child is still asleep 😆
I‘m planning to celebrate further with yoga, bubble bath, and then pedicures with my mom (so really just a regular Sunday). Hope all the other moms have equally lovely, chill plans. ❤️🥰
This one was so fun and just hit the spot. I didn‘t want to put it down. It‘s a novel loosely based on Kate and William‘s royal relationship. It‘s definitely fiction, but it‘s a lot of fun. Bex and Nick meet at Oxford. Despite his royal status and the fact that she‘s an American, they fall in love. Their siblings, Freddie and Lacey, and his responsibilities cause some major road blocks for the couple. A great light read.
This was really hard...I‘m kinda inbetween Pick and So-So. It was glorified Will and Kate fanfiction...which don‘t get me wrong, I love them. But this was just fluff, and it didn‘t really pull me in...until the last 100 pages or so. All in all it was a big Royal Meh
This book was the cutest! An American student meets a prince (meet-cute 🚨) and they fall in love. It was a little predictable but completely worth it, just adorable. I will say that when I picked this up from the library, the page count threw me a bit, and I questioned how badly I wanted to read it. Yes, it‘s long but it doesn‘t drag at all. Plus, there‘s a sequel coming out next year! Maybe 🍼? This was an excellent guilty pleasure read.
Only a few hundred more pages to go, and 50% of the cats for company. This Saturday is off to an excellent start! Plus this book is so fun and I‘m super bummed I kept putting off reading it.
It wasn‘t *bad* it just failed to catch my attention, the entire way through. Plus I felt like the ending was rushed and incomplete

I am calling it a night! I really had trouble focusing on my print books today, so most of this total was from audio! Thank goodness for super long audiobooks! #24in48 #readathon

I just came home to the most lovely surprise!!! I thought it was the mouth guard I ordered from amazon (I recently started to grind my teeth in my sleep and it has been causing me insane mouth pain) I was shocked when I opened it and found a book!! I have NO IDEA who it‘s from but it has to be one of my Litsy friends! I want to thank you so please let me know who sent me this awesome gift!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
This was such a fun read! It was lighthearted, yet with moments of deep sorrow and pain. I loved the parallels with the British royal family - though written around the time of William and Kate‘s courtship, there are certainly echoes of Harry and Meghan‘s relationship in this book. So glad I had a chance to read this for #RoyalRead . Thanks so much @ferskner ! Thanks too to @CoverToCoverGirl and @MellieAntoinete for joining! ⬇️⬇️⬇️
So. Much. Drama! This section is hard to read since we see Bex losing hold of herself in ways we haven't through the rest of her relationship with Nick. I remember reading opinions that Meghan gave up too much to marry Harry, and that came to mind while reading about everything Bex is forced to abandon. Part Four complete for #RoyalRead . Wow! Tension mounting...will everything work out in Part Five? #RoyalRead
I loved this so much! Longer and deeper than I expected, with a lot of character growth, but still with those fizzy, bubbly feelings of reading about two people falling in love. Witty writing that made me absentmindedly smile while reading it and I rooted for almost every single character.
Bex Porter finds herself in #TheHarshestLight as she navigates her relationship with Prince Nicholas of Great Britain. #NoFemmeber
Part 3! One of the reasons I love this book is because I'm super jealous of Bex's life. Not the marrying a prince part, but that she's able to settle in London and really make a life for herself, and even work in an amazing museum. I've only been to London once, but it was totally addicting. This book makes me a little sad since I'll never get that life, but I can dream through Bex.
