Recently I was on the hunt for chapter books my graphic novel loving, tik tok scrolling teen girl would actually be willing to read and was slightly despairing. She loves Heartstopper and the hunger games and we hadn‘t branched much out from that. I got her a pile of random books on a whim from the library, including some I‘d not read, and she did pick this up and ended up loving it! I got the audio so I could join in. Thank u Becky albertalli 😍
I just finished watching Love Simon for the first time in honour of pride month and Disney Plus‘s pride month recommendations. I really loved it, an honourable addition to the teen coming of age serious yet playful summer movie canon, and I was delighted to see the audiobook was available for free on Libby! A perfect easy summer read.
why is straight the default? everyone should have to declare one way or another, and it shouldn't be this big awkward thing whether you're straight, gay, bi or whatever. I'm just saying
Okay, I‘ve worked myself through a few old YA fiction favourite this week. I read Simon vs…, The Exact Opposite of Okay, The Female of the Species, Girl made of Stars, Exit pursued by a bear and We are Okay. Apart from the last one, they all had #HarryPotter references. Which proves how big HP was in the last ten years, but also how bad these references aged.
I really loved reading Simon vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda. It was my first book with an LGBTQ+ main character and it was really a very heart-warming story. I recently came out as queer and reading Simon's story felt familiar; the fear of rejection and/or disappointing those you love is all too real and Albertalli wrote those feelings like she understood. I'm really glad I decided to read this and I look forward to reading more LGBTQ+ fiction.

(otherwise known as Love, Simon)
I Love this book. When I read it I was a bit over coming out stories but this one was written so well you cannot help but root for him, I was fully enthralled by the story and my heart was full when it was over.
I ended up really liking this book, but it took me to almost halfway to be hooked. Once I was I couldn‘t put it down, though. Looking forward to checking out the movie version next!
I‘d never actually read this book so pride month felt like the right time. it‘s cute, like the movie, still hate the black-mailed into coming out thing but Simon and Braham are very cute together.
📚
So, I tried to read only from my bookshelf this month.
📚
These ⬆️ are all the physical books I read in March (and only 3 ebooks). I think I did pretty well sticking to it.
📚
Tagged was my 2nd fav book this month, I REALLY enjoyed it and immediately watched the movie afterwards and LOVED that too!
📚
I enjoyed every one of these books except for All Your Perfects. That book was...well just not enjoyable.

I saw the movie when it first came out and I‘m so glad I finally read the book! Loved it so much!

#booked2022 - a coming out story
Hubby is having a colonoscopy this morning, so I get to sit in the waiting room and read! Hope to make a good dent in this one.

I absolutely love this book. That's it. That's the post. Oh, wait. Here's a quote :
"Why is straight the default? Everyone should have to declare one way or another, and it shouldn't be this big awkward thing whether you're straight, gay, bi or whatever"
Another one?
"That awkward moment when you realize you‘ve been making gay jokes in front of your gay kid for the last 17 years."
Just read this book already. Thanks.

Another #YA book I read during the pandemic. I thought it was interesting how the book version started in a different place than the movie (at least in my memory of the movie). I can understand why. It would not have worked that way on the screen. I loved both book and movie.

Finished this one at a mall parking lot while my boyfriend took a very much needed nap😹 I liked the book in general, it‘s entertaining! I do have some issues with some of the things it mentions, with them being either forced or loosely used terms and sentences. All in all, it was fun!
My trimester ended about a week ago, and those last weeks before ending were HECTIC! Finally able to sit back and read (well, try). Oh, and got that mug yesterday✨
Just realised I haven't posted an update in a while. #FabulousFebruary . Managed twenty hours so far and read the four books I hoped to.
@Andrew65
Oh I loved this so much. Its sweet, cute and often hilarious. The plot is well done and briliantly written. It builds to the most perfect ending that fitted with the story. I loved all the emails interspersed amongst the story adding that extra and often hilarious depth to the story. Simon is just instantly likeable and by the end I was in love with him too. You want him to get everything he wants. 5*
I enjoyed this book. I mean there‘s not that much to say. I liked it, it had a good plot, but there is one more thing I wish got wrapped up. 4/5. (It was a major thing)
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ this one‘s been on my list for a while, and I‘m glad I finally got to read it! Planning on watching the movie tonight.
I read this in two sittings because I was enjoying it so much. It is so sweet but doesn't shy away from addressing issues such as bullying or homophobia.
I enjoyed the writing style especially having some of their emails to each other included. Just a really good book.

I‘ve watched the film adaptation of this book a couple times and really enjoyed it. It‘s always my goal to read the book first, but I don‘t know why I place that priority on myself, because I really enjoy the way a book stays rooted in the MC‘s head in a way film is hard-pressed to capture - even when DMs are involved!
This book is really sweet--there is just no better way to describe it. It addresses serious issues like bullying and homophobia, but it is a young adult book that leaves you feeling warm and fuzzy.
When you just finished a So-so book and you reward yourself with starting the book you just bought ;) #bookandtea
Awww is the first word that comes to mind. I felt so much for Simon. Your high school years suck in general just trying to navigate the social sphere on top of emotions you aren't equip to handle. I find a true connection in the middle of all of that was the highlight.

Becky Albertalli came out as bi yesterday in a medium post. 💖💜💙 No one should be forced out this way.

What to you do when your being blackmailed and talking to someone who could potentially be the love of your life? A question Simon has to figure out.
I read/listened to the English version. Its such a cute book with a cute ending.
In France, we were walking along these little green stalls installed on the wall. Each one filled with different items such as jewelry, journals, scarfs and books. It was at one of these stalls, I decided I wanted to purchase a book. I found this one, one I read before for 3 euros. I know a little french and I wanted to see if I could read it. I have yet to do so, but maybe one day.
I read this a couple of years ago and decided to reread it. It's still a sweet story. I like book Simon a lot more than movie Simon.
Lighthearted and fun. The book alternates between Simon‘s story and emails he is sending to “Blue” someone at his school he is slowly falling in love with despite not knowing his identity.
I‘m loving YA/NA with happy endings lately.
So cute. Also I can 100% get behind this playlist.
Thanks for the tag @EadieB
1: only a couple for once I'm quite organised.
2: tagged above. I get the feeling my daughter will want it after me.
Have you played yet @veritysalter @Eggs and anyone else who wants to play.
If you need a feel good show then you need to watch this!
I binged season one and now going through withdrawals. 🤪
It gave me all the squishy, ooey, gooey feels! ❤️
I wanted to do a couple more. 🏳️🌈❤️🏳️🌈

I have a lot of feelings about this book. It was such a feel good movie- cheesy teenage rom-com with a happy ending. The book was the same. And I could probably give some in depth critique if I really wanted to but I enjoyed reading this book so much and loved the characters so much and it made me feel so happy that I refuse to say anything bad about it
This book made me see a lot of things and I found it very interesting to read. A big thanks to my friends who loan me books to read!!!
Social distance and stay safe!!
It‘s Pride Month everybody!
I tried to get a good mix in of fiction and non fiction, YA and adult in here. Hopefully, something in this list might appeal to you!
