Loved Ms. Marvel, issues 1-5
I think editor Sana Ananat wrote it best when describing this comic and its readers:
“–it was clear that you guys got it. By now you should have realized that this book isn‘t a marketing ploy, nor does it come with political agendas. It‘s just a story about a young girl maneuvering her way to adulthood, who also happens to reflect the changing face of America.”

Kamala tries to balance her own sense of self and the opinions of her racist, judgy peers as she navigates being a brown Muslim teen with new surprise super powers. Sometimes the bubble order is a little confusing, but otherwise I liked this first volume. Love the hilarious background details throughout. Since it was a Hoopla Bonus Borrow last month, I marked it was my impulse read for #RushathonChristmasBingo. #RushathonBingo #Superhero #Comic

I think this book is awesome, especially for some 4th graders. This is very girl power and a bit more advanced. The font is tiny, the pictures are detailed and the concepts/ storylines are a little more complex. I think it is really cool to see a women super hero in a comic book that is all about them. It takes a feminine take on a traditionally very boy idea.
Fun but Vol 1. Is mostly setup so I'm not super attached yet.
Brand new to Ms Marvel and she didn't disappoint.
She is adorable and fun!
Really liked it

I waited entirely too long to read this. It was the title our winner chose last year for Letters about Literature, and I see why she was so in love with it. We see a girl being granted powers but warned that they are not all they are cracked up to to be. She leans quick, but she also learns slow. It was also awesome to see different representation in this cast from Marvel. I can‘t wait to read book 2.
Trying to get into graphic novels and comics more. Figured Ms.Marvel is a good one Bc I‘m trying for more feminist, women empowerment and diversity reads this year.
Feels right. I'm a huge fan of Captain Marvel, so obviously I would be the in universe huge fan of Captain Marvel.

I got this through Prime Reading and loved it!! I wish I had the physical copy of it along with the next 4 in the series.

Last night I read it in one sitting.. and now I want to read Vol.2 as soon as possible!
This was a great intro to the characters and Kamala is super-relatable as protagonist and not the typical comic book heroine.
#AbbaInAugust Day 3: Kamala Khan is indeed a #SuperTrouper indicating how increasingly diverse contemporary comics are now. The conversations struck me as refreshingly witty, written with courageous truth, stripped of banalities and convenient tropes – with Kamala‘s character standing out as distinct yet universal all at once. Finally getting around to some of the titles on my backlogged comics TBR and this was a good one! Plot-wise not a whole lot happens but Kamala is a great character - she‘s a Pakistani teen trying to figure out her family issues and her life in Jersey City when she suddenly gets size and shape changing superpowers to deal with on top of it all. There‘s an introduction of a villain/plot to come but Kamala herself is the reason I‘ll be reading on. ⚡️
I realized that I had some comics on my Kindle I'd never gotten around to either so I'm knocking then out too.
Ms Marvel did not disappoint! Kamala is great and I really appreciate the nuanced views about culture and religion that are packed into just this first volume.
I liked just about everything about this - the artwork, characters, theme, and accessibility to non-comics readers. However, not all that much happened plotwise, which might not be unusual in establishing a character in comics, but I found I was not drawn in to read more volumes.
#readingselfie #bookface This is the best I could do by myself, lol. The hair doesn‘t really line up and the background is off but I was embarrassed to involve my mom in this, lol. I‘m really enjoying this series. I have volumes 1-4 here from the library and volumes 5-8 waiting for me at the library. Confession: I really just wanted to show off my new awesome hat! lol Enjoy your evening!! 😊👍❤️😂📚😎🤷🏽♀️

I've also been getting cross with marvel for how they are cancelling and marketing more diverse titles. This being added to the fact that a lot of female fronted stories keep being given to men. Kelley sue wrote the hell out of carol Danvers to make me love her again!
I think I have a new favorite superhero. I took a break from my audiobook too read this graphic novel for the #readathon. I hope Kamala gets her own movie someday.
This was a great book, but I just wasn‘t really in the mood for it. 100% recommend.
• I‘m enjoying the first volume in this series 👍🏼💫 •

• ...and THIS is why we need more diversity in literature...to expose this kind of blatant ignorance (racism) about other cultures. stupid Americans sometimes, I tell ya what. and I‘m saying that as an American. it‘s 2018–there‘s no excuse for this kind of behavior, in fiction or real life! 🤐😒🙄 •

• only have time for 1 of these before they‘re due back to the library! choices, choices. I‘ve had positive feedback on Paper Girls and Ms. Marvel but haven‘t heard much about the other title. it‘s anyone‘s guess which title it will be. please leave your “vote” in the comments and I‘ll see where we‘re at by 10 p.m. tonight! thanks so much! •
Tomorrow's my day off so today I checked out a big juicy pile of comics to read! I'm so behind on everything. 🤓 💫 #graphicsrule #marveluniverse #strongfemalecharacters
#24in48 I kicked off this morning‘s reading by listening to my #audiobook #Unearthed by #amiekaufman and #jaykristoff while making breakfast. Now I‘m switching to a graphic novel. Ms. Marvel, here I come!
I really liked this graphic novel! Ms. Marvel's backstory is interesting, and she has a spunky attitude. I look forward to more Ms.Marvel adventures in the future.
I'm really loving the graphic novels. Next up is East of West Vol. 1.
When you go to the library for #MsMarvel comics and come back with all of the books.

This panel sums up the inner struggle Kamala Khan faces in the novel as she transforms into a #superhero. The story and artwork were good but I had to research elsewhere to understand the whole mist thing. On to the next one in the series for #letsgetgraphicweeklongmarathon.

#currentlyreading for my first book in the #letsgetgraphicweeklongmarathon and for the #pocauthor prompt for #booked2018. I'm a day late starting my #readathon and #litsypartyofone as we had a friend in town. Love this #graphicnovel so far as she definitely seems like she's one of the #misfits so far and can't wait to see how her journey turns around. @Ambrosnazzy

Definitely my best bookish purchase of the year, which I found a few months ago. I stalked every toy department in every store I went to until the glorious day I rounded the corner and hopefully didn't let out an audible scream. Ms. Marvel was one of the first additions to my growing collection of Marvel heroines. I just wish there was a Kamala Khan variant because I'd get that one, too. #msmarvel #kamalakhan
These were part of my haul from the visit to Chamblins today, along with a book for the #mybloodyvalentineswap. Which brings me to a question...are used books OK when they are part of a swap? This being my first one, I'm not sure if this is frowned upon, or totally acceptable. I certainly don't want the recipient to be disappointed.
What are your thoughts?

Kamala is relatable and there‘s a lot I could like about this series, but the first book lacked any sort of plot that could make it a more interesting book. Maybe if I read the rest of the series, I‘ll rate the series as a whole when I‘m finished. The first volume was just not what I‘d hoped it would be.
While the fiancé is playing a video game, I‘m reading a bit of my first graphic novel (in a very long time). I reserved all 7 from the library and luckily, 5 came on the same day! #libraryftw #xmasevereads #msmarvel #graphicnovel #superheroes
