I know the TV series is based on Slaughter‘s characters/premise, but are the episodes original plots?
Husband just found this show and we loved the pilot. Trying to decide if watching the TV series would spoil the books for us.

I remember this being my first ever book by Slaughter. I remember how caught up I was and how I couldn't get enough.
Almost exactly 10 years later I have the exact same reaction as then. Even though I knew the ending, even though I knew I would later come to love or hate some of the characters. This felt exciting, on edge and again I couldn't get enough.
Karin Slaughter writes the absolute brutal thrillers in every sense, and you can‘t help but turn the page again and again!
I finished Holly today. Stephen King is one of my all time favorites. 10/10 recommend. Next up, Triptych. 📚❤️
I‘ve wanted to start the Will Trent series for a while and I finally read the first book and I loved it! Karin Slaughter is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. I definitely plan to read the rest of series!
Okay, so I have said it before, but I really mean it this time...this is the last Karin Slaughter novel I plan to read. The mystery in this one is more interesting than some of her others, but it lacks the strong sense of place I crave and relies too much on gore and sexual violence at the expense of character development, so I'm not inclined to read the other books in the series.
Quickly becoming a Karin Slaughter fan 😍
This one was definitely a little twisted and twisty! The reveal part way in was a good one.
My first Karin Slaughter and I really enjoyed it! The story was really captivating and I liked the way characters were introduced both thinly and indepth at the same time. It left me feeling like the next books I will get to know them even more. The violence in this book was described in detail. The storyline was skillfully broken so that it didn't feel like one of those cliché thrillers where you can guess the ending after the first page.
Some train reading while travelling home 🤓📖
1. Will Trent, NCIS
2. Any of the feminist retellings of Greek mythology. There‘s a lot of books but no TV/movie adaptations AFAIK.

Holy cow, y‘all. I have not loved a book this much in a while. The characters were so personable and dynamic, I loved them all. The plot was kept so fresh and twisty despite it being another crime/murder mystery novel. The execution of all the shocking reveals and plot twists was expertly done. This book has officially made me a true Karin Slaughter fan 🤘🏼I can‘t say enough how much I loved the experience this book gave me. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This book was selected at random for me during an impulse trip to B&N. After reading one of her newer novels, Pieces of Her, I‘m finding myself very excited to dive into this one. It seems her writing style fits her in a way that is unique and I was entranced by her storytelling, so I hope this book will have the same effect. This is also the second to last book before I finish my March 2023 reading goal!
A few chuckles. Ornery characters. A good plot twist. Recommend this book.
This in an older serial murderer book. There are a lot of moving pieces here, but the most interesting thing about it, is that it introduces Will Trent, who you might be watching on tv. There‘s a lot of his back story, and his friend Angie‘s too. I liked the characters but the story is kind of meh.
Having watched the show and now having just read the first book in the Will Trent series all I can say is I‘m hooked on both. Glad I gave this a shot because it‘s so good.

Triptych, #1 in the Will Trent series. Wow! What a great start to a series! I didn‘t want to stop listening. At the point of one major reveal, I was like 😮. I hope the rest of the series is as good. #SeriesLove2023 @Andrew65 @TheSpineView
“From Atlanta‘s wealthiest suburbs to its inner-city housing projects, a killer has crossed the boundaries of wealth and race. Working the case are Michael Ormewood, a veteran detective whose arrogance and explosive temper are threatening his career and Angie Polaski, a vice cop who was once Michael‘s lover before she became his enemy. Unbeknownst to them, a loser ex-con has stumbled on the killer‘s trail and may be the key to breaking the case.”
Slaughter writes a good thriller. The murders are brutal and the chase for the killer is twisty with several surprises as the tale unfolds. It takes a while to get its footing, but that‘s not surprising for the first book in a series. I‘ll definitely pick up the next, but (and I know this is blasphemous) I may like the TV show better, at least for now. This has one of my least favorite plots and I‘m horrified and sickened by the crimes in it.
Not really “so-so”but I can‘t bring myself to give it a “pick” it‘s in between.

Bk4 of #JumpStart2023 is done! A reread, it‘s the 1st in her Will Trent series & was just as fabulous the 2nd time round. I‘d call it Trent 0.5 really as he‘s not the MC of the book, it‘s told from multiple POVs including his, Angie‘s & another Atlanta cop. A woman is found dead, mutilated & raped which at first is written off as one of her johns, until Trent links it to 3 other vicious rapes. #BookspinBingo #Booked2023 #WronglyIncarceratedMC 👇
After trying a few new books and none taking, I‘ve decided to try a reread of the Will Trent series by Karin Slaughter. The new series isn‘t available in Aus, unless you do the whole VPN pretending you‘re in the US thing, which I cannot confirm or deny that happened😉but it seems alright. Not sure about Angie though, she‘s not psychotic enough yet. #JumpStart2023
Okay— who has read this series, Will Trent? Episode 1 has me interested, now that I know there is a book series, I would love to hear your thoughts. Because, this man here is a whole neurodivergent snack🤩
Anyone else watched? The only casting I thought they really nailed was Amanda. & Angie had the Angie vibe. I didn‘t find it to be as quirky as they made it on the previews, but not as gritty as the books. But, it‘s ABC not HBO. Good so far though. I‘ll be watching.
While I have serious doubts about whether or not this new show will be able to adequately cature the magic of one of my all-time favorite characters in crime fiction, I'll obviously be watching anyway 😂
That was truly awful, and I had to force myself to finish it. I have no idea why this book has such rave reviews.
It was multilayered, but very, very boring! I was indifferent to all the characters. Some parts were so scoffingly unbelievable. The book did not flow, and the writing was rather jarring.
Steering well clear of any Karin Slaughter novels from now on
I‘m not familiar with this actor because I don‘t watch films/telly a lot. But this is not the Will Trent that lives in my head!!
what an opening story. Poor Will, he's been through absolute hell and yet he's determined to help others. I like that he has flaws but that he works hard not to be called out for them. His relationship with Angie is interesting and does justify things you see in later books. The plot itself is really clever and although you know early on who is behind it, i like how it all slowly comes together. I love Will even more so after this one. 5*

This was twisted. I started reading Will Trent at “Undone” and heave read all the subsequent, this was an interesting trip back in time. The story of a serial rapist/murderer crossing decades, race, class, age boundaries with one telltale signature. Following Will, Det. Ornewood, an ex-con, and Vice cop Angie Polaski who finds herself caught in the middle as they seek out the killer.
It‘s October! & Friday! I‘m kicking off #Scarathlon2021 with some OG Slaughter and pumpkin spice. #TeamSlaughter 🗡🎃🔪

This was a re-read & even though I don‘t remember any of it, my🧠 had other issues. I couldn‘t keep focused for the life of me and so, I‘ll return it to the library tomorrow. I‘ll go looking for lots of spoiler reviews and then head into book two at some point.
💮 Yes I am... My favourite is when I get it totally wrong.
💮Fantasy - Any Brandon Sanderson (can't pick)
Thriller - Karin Slaughter's Will Trent
💮Nope, but I have some annoying ones

Some of my current reads & a couple of library loans.
The only real “goal” I‘m setting for myself, other than to enjoy reading as much as possible, is ‘The Silent Patient‘ &🔖📕 ‘cause it‘s an inter-library loan that I‘ve been chomping at the bit for since last year.
Since I finished The Grant County series for #SeriesRead2021 I had to jump into the Will Trent ASAP.
This is an excellent start to another brutal Slaughter series full of unexpected twists and lots of dark, gritty actions. After reading other books by this author you'd think I'd be prepared for the violence, but Slaughter is a master of her craft and paints a very vividly sadistic image with her words.
I can't wait to see what happens next.
I am thoroughly impressed with the first installment of the Will Trent series. Slaughter knows exactly how to write a suspenseful thriller. Considering how she started the story, I never expected it take those turns. I was immersed in the lives of all of the characters. My earbuds were glued to my ears!
My #doublespin done! Her books pull you in , hard to put down as you really want to know what‘s really going on here? Her characters, both good guys & bad, well drawn & complex. This is the first Will Trent , I will be back for more.a cautionary note : her books are very violent, crimes often vividly described.Next up in series, Beyond Reach.

Yes, I‘m cheating because it is only book 1 but come on! I know I‘m going to love this. Slaughter is the absolute master of conjuring up the most twisted, sick shit and throwing it at incredibly drawn characters. I loved it. #StartASeries
I had been warned that Triptych was violent. I was not prepared for it to be so unrelentingly, brutally, and graphically violent. Mystery/thriller is my favorite genre. I get that a degree of violence is often part of the deal. Slaughter went to a wildly unreasonable extreme. This story could have been told with even more mystery/surprise (and better character and plot development) without the constant assault.
This first in the Will Trent series has been on my list to read for quite some time. I waited for the #audiobook on #libby for ages. This is a typical Karin Slaughter read, but it was nice to see the origins of the characters I've come to know in later books. Grit and her trademark gore abound. Also, is anyone as they seem? #thriller
💕🐕🐾Betty!💝.
We love this series! The third season is coming early 2025.
I wanted to read the books too, until I noted that some reviews claim that the books are a bit more gruesome than the show. I like how the show is more focused on the characters over the crimes...

We began watching Will Trent from the premier on TV, for one reason alone...we saw a preview and saw Betty 😍😂.
