I love St Mary‘s and I love Zara Ramm‘s narration of this series. She‘s perfect. This is another well-written episode featuring the Time Police, Mary Tudor, and yet another visit to the Cretaceous Period. As much as I adore Max, I wish the rest of St Mary‘s staff had more page time. I‘m also annoyed that we might not have seen the last of one character, but I love the time spent with Max and Matthew.

My favorite time-traveling historians are at it again. This one felt more emotional than her others - could've been because I stayed up too late to finish it. My November #BookSpin book. @TheAromaofBooks

6-12-21: My 62nd finishes book of 2021! In this 10th book of the Chronicles of St. Mary‘s series, we find Max putting her life on the line, as usual. This time by joining the Time Police and going after the infamous Clive Ronan. She encounters a sex club and the Cretataceous period, to name just a few of her jumps on the time line. This time around, Max finds herself in Tudor times correcting history that's gone awry when Lady Jane Grey, "The Nine Days' Queen", didn't die & through her horrible nature has brought England to the brink of extinction...so there's that to fix. There's the taking of a mob leader to see the Kingdom of Kush & Jebel Barkal after visiting him in a sex club & providing him with dodos, plus another trip back to the Cretaceous. The usual hijinks galore!

I love this series! ♥️ Eccentric time-traveling historians who research & verify historical events. This time Max is spending her days in the future avoiding her mortal enemy & in the past figuring out how Lady Jane Grey, the Nine Days' Tudor Queen, has managed to sit on the English throne for decades. Throw in some dinosaurs, some dodos, & a time machine that resembles a teapot & you have another crazy adventure with the crew from St. Mary's.

Omg!! That last half an hour was an emotional roller-coaster!!! I can't wait for the next book now. Definitely in my top 2020 releases!

The 10th in Jodi Taylor‘s THE CHRONICLES OF ST MARY‘S SERIES is a fast-paced, cosy SF novel with lots of no-nonsense Britishness, plenty of time travel and intrigue and laced with wry humour and while I hadn‘t read the previous 9 books, I had little difficulty in following this and will check out the earlier books.

I've been pretty quiet on Litsy. Working on projects and Binge Listening St Mary's. Started series in April 2018. Always a joy to be late to a party with a stack to catch on. Book 10 didn't disappoint. "How many books have you read that include the words dodos and sex club in the same sentence?"
"And back to the sex club– a phrase Jane Austen inexplicably omitted to use in any of her books."
"We‘re St Mary‘s and we drink proper tea."

These are a total guilty pleasure but I do so enjoy. This one with visits to Tudor England (but not as we know it) as well as Kush and back to dinosaur times was more upbeat than number 9. A solid 3.5 for me (apologies for blurred photo train home is v bouncy!)
