@Nessavamusic thank you so much for such a lovely package. I love everything especially the books. The Encyclopedia of Faeries 🧚 looks amazing and The Guinevere Deception has been on my TBR for awhile now. So excited to read these. 🤩 I loved this swap #LitsyFoundFamilySwap. Thank you to @KateReadsYA for organizing. 🫶
In this version, Guinevere is sent to be Arthur‘s wife to protect him. twists & turns abound. & Lancelot is female in this version so thats fun. I finally finished this trilogy & I can‘t lie, it was kinda boring. you could zone out for awhile & still not have missed much. can‘t say everything I wanted to happen did & honestly the ending doesn‘t really even make sense in the context of the characters. BUT interesting take & quick read.
Really enjoyed this book, and the trilogy as a whole for the most part. It‘s a quick and fun read!
Both my #doublespin and filling the prompt #lastchristmas for #averymerrybingo! I really liked this one, one of the better Arthurian retellings I‘ve read!
I am posting one book per day from my to-be-read collection. No description and providing no reason for wanting to read it, I just do. Some will be old, some will be new - don‘t judge me I have a lot of books.
Join the fun if you want. This is day 343.

I can't say that everything I wanted to have happen happened in this book but this is also one of the few times I've read a Camelot story and NOT had a good idea of what was going to happen at every turn! I devoured it in a day and a half and am excited to see where it goes from here in book two.
"There was a dangerous magic in pretending. Pretend long enough, and who could say what was real?"
Wow, and I mean WOW. I loved this! This book made me feel things other than rage and annoyance at the characters, and the direction the story was going. Right from the first chapter I was hooked, and my interest in the story never let up even up to the end. I read this at the right time, and now I need the sequel. 🥳👑
⭐: 5

Merlin never walked a straight path. His choices often seemed to be absurd or wrong. But he saw through time, pierced it with the arrow of his magic, and always hit his target at the other end. It was reassuring. He might not have armed her with as much knowledge as she needed regarding the coming threat, but if he had sent her here, this was where she should be.
(My first Kiersten White book, and I'm loving this so far!)
I wanted to pick so-so but the last few chapters it really got exciting
I guess I need to move this book farther up my TBR stack! What kind of SFF hero are you?

Book 121, audio
I didn't care for this. I finished it out because I like King Arthur stories, but this was not great. The plot was slow, took too long to get to the point, and then the point turned out to be our Heroine isn't going to be the hero but gets to be protected by all the big strong men instead. *le sigh*
The sequel to this just came out a few days ago so I‘m rereading it to refresh my memory first. I remember liking it a lot!
"She had never before viewed the green and secret things of the world with fear."
Right out of the gate I'm loving the way Kiersten White uses words to craft a sense of creepiness. This is our library's book read for the month which I'm starting now on the very last day of the month ?
Love when I pick up a book for a reading challenge, one that would never have sparked my interest, only
To thoroughly enjoy it. A fun fantasy retelling of King Arthur and Guinevere full of magic, action and romance. A pleasant surprise. I look forward to reading the next book in this series. The audio was fabulous!
#WeeklyForecast Binti: Sacred Fire (in this bind-up it comes between the first and second novella), Pride and Prejudice (also in a bind-up with the other novels), plus an Arthurian legend retelling. 😊

I‘ve been disappointed by many Arthurian retellings, but this one has everything I love. The characters are great, the twists make sense, and references to well-known Arthurian stories are sprinkled throughout without making the book unoriginal. The pace is slow, but I found every page captivating. I can‘t wait for the second book!
I really liked this book! I adore the way the author writes magic and the world. I would definitely recommend to anyone who likes the Medieval setting and aesthetic!
Holly I‘m speechless 😱this is amazing. I‘m going to be using that super cool card as a bookmark too. And Adagio is my favorite tea company! I can‘t wait to try Katherine after breakfast! #staycationintime
Took me a little while to get into it, but then it really flew. Loved the magic in this world and the play on the legends.
I like the direction the author chose to go with this story, but I found the Guinevere character herself to be too hollow. The plot had a lot of potential and I do want to see what happens with the rest of the series. There were several original twists in this retelling, the characters just need to grow a little more in order for me to connect.
I loved this author's Elizabeth Frankenstein book.
🎧 ThNk you OwlCrate! Lancelot made this book! W00T!! It wasn‘t as YA-ish as I thought it would be. Great story with familiar characters! No sex. Narrator was good. A story about a deception. The woman who is now Guinevere is the queen. What starts out as a marriage of convenience ends in true love. Fun book! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/4
I love a good Camelot tale!!! This was a great start to the series, I can't wait for the next to come out.
I have always been captivated by the sword in the stone and Camelot. This book was a new fresh take on that legend. I enjoyed the weaving of Doyle‘s world that we know and love with the one White created. It opened up so many possibilities for Guinevere and the role she brings to Arthur and Camelot. That she could be more that a queen. Kind of sad I have to wait until Nov for the second one.
June Book 3/20 #litsylove
I love when you remove a dusk jacket for safety while reading and you discover a gems underneath. Publishers who do this rock. #litsylove
I loved this!!! It started off a little slow for me, but I flew through the second half and cant wait to find out what happens in the sequel!
This is book 5 completed for my #bookspinbonanza although I'm reading out of order. @TheAromaofBooks
For #nutsinmay this I'd book 1/5 and 250/1000 pages. A solid start! @Andrew65
Tore through this rec from one of the ELA teachers at my school in about a day. An interesting (and slightly queerer) reimagining of the Arthur legend. A solid read that lost points with me from the ableism of Sir Bors‘ portrayal and the presumed or explicit whiteness of nearly every character. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Best Part: The Patchwork Knight‘s Story & the relationship dynamics.
~
Aside: I don‘t much care for the Camelot storyline of an affair between Guinevere & Lancelot. Also, I just binged The Last Kingdom on Netflix & feel like I broke up with my boyfriend. My romance brain is borked.
Currently reading this book here! I was so excited to dive into it, but I forgot how jarring White‘s narrative can be. It takes a little to get into her writing but it is SO GOOD.

Finished this last night. A great retelling of Camelot, King Arthur, Guinevere, Lancelot, Merlin, all told from the perspective of Guinevere and as a different story of magic, lies, secrets. The Owlcrate edition has changed the cover from blues to greens. And I love the metallic green sword and green under the jacket. I can't say much about the story without giving anything away but I'd definitely recommend it. Can't wait for the next one.
Happy St. Patrick's Day! This is my March read for a book with a green cover. (Original cover not green like this one. This is the Owlcrate exclusive cover.) Just started it last night after work and read the first 5 chapters. So far, a good read and I'm intrigued by this retelling and twist in the Camelot story!
'There was nothing in the world as magical and terrifying as a girl.' - The Guinevere Deception
My favorite read of 2020 so far. Loved this magical twist on the King Arthur myth. Can‘t wait for the next book in the series!
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The Guinevere Deception is action packed, has lies, and magic throughout it. I gave it four stars because there were a few parts I was bored at when reading.
I really liked the retelling of King Arthur, the Lady of the Lake, Merlin, and Guinevere.

Back with the pick a book do a look. This one is not good but I‘m about to go to work with green eyeshadow so I had to post it anyway 😅
I had some backstory going in to this, I'm sure I used to read stories of Camelot as a kid and being British, I grew up watching Merlin, which meant I spent the entirety of the book picturing Mordred as Alexander Vlahos. It also meant that little of the book's twists and turns surprised me, but I still really enjoyed it and can't wait for the sequel.
Full review on Goodreads due to Litsy's crazy restrictions.
My face as I ended my favorite book of January. My heart is in pieces. My soul is angry. This is the brand new first book of a trilogy and I have to wait. Ahhhhh.
So yeah, anyhow..go read this, or whatever. I‘m going to go cry now.
Reading, an electric blanket, and hot beverages on this rainy cold winter day!
I‘m an Arthurian legend nerd, lover, whore. Take your pick of adjectives! 😂 I love a good retelling. I cannot stop reading this book. I‘m in love with Guinevere‘s character. How this entwines some other parts of the story often over looked and brings back memories of my childhood.
I spent most of the book just going “wait how does Mordred work in this world.”
Forgot my book club book at work. Guess I‘ll start a different book! :)
Men are hungry fools. If they cannot eat it, wear it, or use it, they kill it anyway. They spread like fungus through the heart of the world. Lift a rock, and there: man. But that is not quite right. At least fungus grows and feeds other life. Men only devour. Everywhere they reshape the world in their image. To their needs. [...] Fields are forced to bear their fruits, their grains, their decisions. A fungus only kills. Men change
Oh. My. STARS. This was amazing! Definitely a dark Camelot tale. The basic story is there, but the twists are so different. But they fit as if the were meant to be. The surprise about Lancelot still has me going-I think I love that knight. Was totally rooting for Mordred, but that‘s gone. Guinevere‘s growth through was incredible; I felt her confidence in her power grow alongside her decision to be a protector, not someone to protect🗡❤️
First off, I am Team Mordred. Just sayin'. Anywho, while this dragged a little in places, I ultimately felt sad it was over and that's a pretty good sign. I think Ms. White does some good work and I'm really looking forward to the next book in this series!
