Panpan

Over half of this book is quite good, about a man who has some sort of possibly supernatural mutation or deformity that drives people to want to murder him on sight, so he lives in isolation below the city. Scary and interesting adventures ensue, and then Koontz takes a hard turn into religion. Just a ridiculous Catholic apologist story. Felt like bait and switch, but I finished it. Seriously corny, absurd ending.

Addison has always believed he is hideous by the violent reactions of people who look at him, so he lives a life in hiding. Until....he meets Gwyneth and his life is changed forever.

Here is one that has been on my TBR list for a long nb time. Has anyone read it? Thoughts? Just wondering if I should remove it.

This book gave off way too many YA vibes for my taste, and it all felt a bit... childish. The story sure is quite imaginative, but not in an altogether positive way. Before it went all out fairy tale it was not believable enough, and that was 90% of the book.

My first #DNF of my #spookyreadathon. After 11%, I just couldn‘t care about this.

Any other suggestions for spooky audiobooks? They‘ll be bonus/filler for my 31 days/31 Reads Booktober... please and thank you 🙏🏻😊

Texreader My mom read this one and told me not to bother. I didn‘t and traded it in at a Little Library. So sad this was a dismal failure for Koontz. My fave creepy books are Dracula and The Historian. 6y

The MC in this story reminded me of the character Odd Thomas. While I loved the Odd Thomas series, this was just okay for me and I can‘t clearly identify why. I liked the ending and the love story. I appreciated the wisdom passed along to the MC. But, I just didn‘t love it. 😏 #LitsyAtoZ #MountTBR

This tale is beautiful in a dark and twisted way that I love. Not gory but in this amazing love story that happens as the world is ending around them. A disease is wiping out humanity and we have this interesting story that has so much to it. It is a great read, and hard not to write a review about this book without giving away spoilers. Koontz did an excellent job.

RaimeyGallant Nice review. :) And welcome to Litsy! #LitsyWelcomeWagon Some of us put together Litsy tips to help new Littens navigate the site. It's the link in my bio on my page in case you need it. Or if you prefer how-to videos, @chelleo put some together at the link in her bio. 7y

Today was hard. Taking a break and reading this. This was the last book my mom lent me, and now I can‘t tell her what I think. That‘s hit me the hardest this week. My mom was the person I traded books with, talked about my latest read, and shared funny book memes with. She is the one who gave me my love for reading. Miss you mom. This one‘s for you.

JoScho I can‘t even begin to imagine your pain or struggle right now but I am so sorry your are hurting. 😔 7y

jpmcwisemorgan I‘m sorry for your loss. You can still talk to her. I talk to my mom all the time. If that makes me crazy, then so be it. I‘m glad you have one last book from her. 7y
LisaJo So sorry for your loss. I have both the last book my mom read and the last book my dad was reading when they passed away. I don‘t keep them on the regular bookshelf but in a special place. Every year for my moms‘s birthday I would get her the newest John Grisham. And, when she came to visit me, she would give me the book to read. 😀Just because she‘s not there in person doesn‘t mean you can‘t talk to her and tell her about your books. (edited) 7y

A few years ago, I was relaxing after work and took this pic for my Facebook page. One of my favorite pairs (?) of socks. #stockings #12DaysofXmasPhoto

Betty Yea, after I saw this pix I ordered some for gifts 8y
Laura317 So THAT'S how the craze got started! Kids now wear them that way on purpose. You trend setter! 8y
JDHawkins Love this! I stopped wearing matching socks about 17 years ago and I have never looked back. 8y

JanuarieTimewalker13 Haha!! Excellent!! It's like, why don't we have pink tires too? Why are car tires always black? 8y
JanuarieTimewalker13 True, they'd get dirty, ok, how about deep purple tires? 8y
Suzze @JanuarieTimewalker13 I'd buy those! 8y
JanuarieTimewalker13 @Suzze see? Because women are fun!! We need to run the world. It would be so colorful and happy. When I first saw Capitola, Cali, in 1993 and all the pastel homes of different colors, I knew something had gone right in this town. I want a world like that. 8y
Faibka Love those socks! 😆 8y

Mom prereads some of my tbr books. She gave this a big thumbs down. When I checked Litsy and it had only a 20% approval rating and other poor reviews I decided to take it off the list.

Suzze I liked it! Lacked some in character development, and it is very different from any other Koontz I've read. 8y
Cupofjo I enjoy Dean Koontz, but this one not as much as some of his others. ... Whispers or phantoms is a great place to start with Koontz! (Or the Odd series) 8y
Texreader @Cupofjo I did like his early books. Some of his later books seem formulaic. 8y

I'm not really sure what to think about this one... I enjoyed it, but it went in a completely different direction than I expected. The ending did seem ridiculously rushed.
