My mailbox yield. Love the New Yorker‘s cover this week.
I love Kristen Harmel's books but, they can gut you! November's #IllSeeYouInParis book is well researched but at times I felt as though I was being "talked down to". I alternated reading and listening to an audio version. Audio can sometimes bring so much more life to a book & make it seem eveb more real. Ruby is an American married to a Frenchman living in occupied Paris during the war time. Her bravery & courage(cont in comments)
I'm so sorry, I completely forgot to post this! I was getting ready for a short trip (Not Paris!) & my brain's been a little full 😅 When I started reading this book last night, I suddenly remembered that I had forgotten... forgive me?
I can hardly believe we're nearing the end of our Paris journey! I'm really enjoying this book so far! Chasing Paris is our Dec book. But, I may have a bonus in there... Stay tuned😊 #IllSeeYouInParis challenge
I have soooo many books that I found at the thrift store!! I love going there, but I‘ve been resisting the urge because I have so many to read! 📚📚📚 I‘m always excited to find #BOTM books there!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 stars! This was a GREAT read!! I was hooked from page 1. Definitely a historical fiction recommendation for all fans of the genre! ❤️
I cannot put this book down, it‘s so good! Then I come across the apt & timely message and my heart swooned. I was meant to read this book now, I have no doubt in my mind 🥰
Picking up Olive Garden for dinner. This was not an original idea 😆 But, I‘m dry, I‘ve got my book, and I packed my patience because if this pandemic has taught me anything it‘s that I‘m not in control 😜

How did you choose the book: The book seemed interesting
Summary: Paris during World War II about an American woman, a dashing pilot, and a young Jewish girl whose fates unexpectedly entwine
I‘ve been obsessed with WWII books lately. This one isn‘t as good as some of the others I‘ve read but I loved this story.
I started this yesterday morning and finished it about 1am this morning. lol I enjoyed this one.
Book 3 for #widehorizonsreadathon @Emilymdxn

1. Tagged. Started it today and I‘m just over half way through.
2. Big Lies in a Small Town
3. Probably The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society around 2 years ago. I don‘t watch a lot of tv or movies.

My $5 book haul! I‘m definitely keeping the tagged book and Charming Billy. The rest will make an appearance in our Little Free Library in the near future.
Beautiful historical fiction set in WW2 in Paris. Ruby Benoit, in her work to smuggle American and British pilots out of France through Spain, had indomitable #spirit and courage. Paris is on my #bucketlist-a place with so much history and art and remembrance

Conpelling story but the clumsy writing style detracted from the story and seemed like it needed a stronger editor. I‘m glad this story is in the world and I‘m happy I read it but in the genre of historical literature, this is is just so-so for me.
⭐⭐⭐⭐ I wasn't feeling the first half. Second half though... ❤ Still not The Nightingale, but a worthy read for its own sake. (8th book read for 2019) 📷: me for once!!
Almost halfway through this one. I wasn't really impressed with it at first, but it's getting more interesting now that the two main characters have met. 😊☕

But sneaking in a little reading time before with this one for my IRL book club.
So excited to start this one soon!!! I hit a great deal on it at Barnes & Noble today, and the story sounds amazing. It's compared to The Nightingale...we'll just have to see about that though!
My Barnes and noble book haul today!! Thank God my fiancé supports my love of books!!

2018 was good to us, and we ended it dressed up in 1940s flair. I‘ve always wanted to wear a fascinator! We look forward to the new beginnings 2019 has to offer us. Happy New Year, littens!
Day 3 of #adventrecommends is this beauty, set in Nazi occupied Paris during WWII. It so reminiscent of The Nightingale in a lot of ways.

Just finished. I was going to give up halfway through, but I took a break and read another book. I thought this one was going to be like most war stories, but I was pleasantly surprised when I went back and finished this. It was worth finishing! An American weds a Frenchman and spends the war in Paris helping the resistance. Much more to this story.
What a beautiful WWII story. I loved seeing the story from different perspectives and how each character was feeling. It just made the story so much more real. I also loved how you followed all the characters through that course of the war. Great to see how they changed as individuals throughout the war. Beautiful beautiful book!

Love this sooo very much!!!

I really like the premise of this book, but it was really a love story set in WWII. I think I‘ve just read too many WWII books that have similar plots and this one doesn‘t have the depth that others have. It‘s tragic, but the honest, true parts of the war are inferred not written. Ok, not great.
