Before We Were Strangers
Before We Were Strangers: A Love Story | Renee Carlino
From the USA TODAY bestselling author of Sweet Thing and Nowhere But Here comes a love story about a Craigslist missed connection post that gives two people a second chance at love fifteen years after they were separated in New York City. To the Green-eyed Lovebird: We met fifteen years ago, almost to the day, when I moved my stuff into the NYU dorm room next to yours at Senior House. You called us fast friends. I like to think it was more. We lived on nothing but the excitement of finding ourselves through music (you were obsessed with Jeff Buckley), photography (I couldnt stop taking pictures of you), hanging out in Washington Square Park, and all the weird things we did to make money. I learned more about myself that year than any other. Yet, somehow, it all fell apart. We lost touch the summer after graduation when I went to South America to work for National Geographic. When I came back, you were gone. A part of me still wonders if I pushed you too hard after the wedding I didnt see you again until a month ago. It was a Wednesday. You were rocking back on your heels, balancing on that thick yellow line that runs along the subway platform, waiting for the F train. I didnt know it was you until it was too late, and then you were gone. Again. You said my name; I saw it on your lips. I tried to will the train to stop, just so I could say hello. After seeing you, all of the youthful feelings and memories came flooding back to me, and now Ive spent the better part of a month wondering what your life is like. I might be totally out of my mind, but would you like to get a drink with me and catch up on the last decade and a half? M

Ugh, I really wanted to like this one, but the MMC was whiny and pathetic. Sure he has some nice qualities, but overall I think he‘s sub par. You don‘t tell someone you‘re soulmates and then fall for the closest hot girl and then get mad when you realize you squandered 15 years away. I saw the ending surprise from a mile away and the last bit in the book was so cheesy and unrealistic it hurt. Book #81 in 2024

This was okay, interesting enough that I kept listening but I‘m not sure it will stay with me. I liked the stores but I wanted a little more oopmh from the characters. #BookspinBingo @TheAromaofBooks #audio

This was a BookTok recommendation I found. They claimed you could finish in 24-48hrs. Sure did!!!
So if you've found yourself in a reading slump, take this book!! You will be equally happy!!

She's sweet and cute. And her story's poignantly beautiful.

This was sweet, but predictable enough that I had a persistent feeling of deja vu the whole time. Overall a cute story, but not something I'll be thinking about for long (and the Goodreads rating is WAY inflated if you ask me) ⭐️⭐️⭐️

“Poetry is just the evidence of life. If your life is burning well, poetry is just the ash”

This book was so unexpectedly good, I didn‘t want to put it down. The love story of two young people who fell in love at the wrong time. The passion in the writing was amazing and I definitely cried more then I want to admit. 9/10💞

Hope, Love, soulmates. One green-eyed lovebird. One cool photography boy. Bad timing. Cosmic connection. A 15 year love story. #litsylove

TheLiteraryLifestyle I have yet to read a Renee Carlino book but I have her books on my TBR. I've heard good things about her books for the most part. 5y
Brookebickel @TheLiteraryLifestyle you‘re missing out! Be warned though, I usually have at least one ugly cry session reading her books, so have some Kleenex ready just Incase 😅 5y

Let me start off by saying: I like very, very few contemporaries. Most of the time, I don't even bother reading them.
I was initially skeptical because college sweethearts, the one that got away, rekindled romance? We've all heard it before. I didn't have high hopes. But this book blew me away.

I loved this book, I loved the characters, I loved the story, but I especially loved how atmospheric of New York this book was. It was so beautifully written, it made my heart heavy with all the feels. This book has definitely found a place on my favourite NA romance list. Definitely recommend. 4/5 🌟

I finished this one up last night. Y'all. This book had so many more feels than I expected. It's the second romance I've read this month because February & the first was good & tried to go deeper than sappy romance & almost made it but this one... Twists. Turns. Truths. Tears. Everyone says Renée Carlino is awesome. I didn't LOVE Swear On This Life like most people but I LOVE this one. And my favorite character didn't even show up until the end!

That moment when you get the kids in the bathtub 25 minutes later than you normally do and you walk into the kitchen dreading making their lunches for the next day only to remember that you actually already made their lunches earlier this afternoon. I was very skeptical of this book at first, but it sucked me in. I don't usually go for love stories. I tend to go for stories that don't end up the way you want them to and have complicated characters. This had a little of that in it and it kept me reading. The story felt predictable at times, but had a few small turns that kept me invested in the story. Oh, and I love that the characters loved Jeff Buckley as much as I still do.
