pickSecond book in the series. Ellery Adams cozy mystery series 'The Secret, Book and Scone Society' is a cute, fun, with a little romance read.
There were some grammatical errors in this one. Plus there were words left out of some sentences. It needed better editing to me. A soft pick for me. 3.5⭐

Shortly thereafter, a local woman is found dead, and then a man from out of town is found dead. Nora and her friends try to figure out if the two deaths are related to each other. And if so, how they're related.

pickI love the Secret, Book, and Scone Society books. I could call them a guilty pleasure, but books should never provoke guilt! In this, a scared and bruised girl, calling herself Abilene, appears in Nora‘s bookstore. Seeking to help her leads the Society members into a mystery that reveals her abuse and the search for a valuable pocket watch. Not surprisingly, there‘s murder and mayhem, but as this is a “cozy” it‘s all OK in the end.
pickI did read this in a day. I love all the book references. It‘s comfort reading at its finest

pickI‘ve not managed to read much this week with a COVID headache 🤕 & fatigue but I did mange to finish this one, the 2nd in the cozy mystery series. It‘s been months since I read the 1st but I found myself caught back up in the 4 main characters & the town of Miracle Springs. I love all of the book references & the mystery was interesting too & had some twists that added to it. Looking forward to the next two before I start the 5th for a book tour.
pickIt‘s been a few years since I read the first book in this series, and I was in the fence about it. I don‘t know if the story & writing have improved, or living through a stressful pandemic and other major life changes have made me more amenable to cozies, but I really enjoyed this one. The characters are really starting to grow on me.

Has anyone else read this series? The fictional town of Miracle Springs, NC reminds me a bit of Highlands, NC.
The first book was an enjoyable escapist read, I‘m finding the 2nd one the same!
pickWhen I started this series a few years ago, life had been a little gentler and I found the characters depressing and hard to like. I get it now. This installment was really good and I‘ll be reading the rest. Unfortunately when I googled the image I realized I‘m almost half way through book 4 instead of book 3. Whoops!

21 #44 I thought the first book was ok. But the characters grew on me a bit more this time.

This story involves a young woman who shows up at Nora‘s store and her connection with a murder in town. TW for child abuse. Looking forward to reading the next one.

I listened to this on audio. All kinds of books referenced. A group of 4 women in a small town known for its healing powers, find each other , and use their combined wisdom to solve murders.
The author starts out every chapter with a quote. This one made me LOL.
pickI probably didn't like this quite as much as the first book, but I will be checking out book 3!

pickOkay, I'm hooked on this series! Several women in a small town come together with tragedies from their past as the glue that binds them. Smart women, entrepreneurial women, compassionate women, supportive women. Taking care of each other and their own, and solving crime along the way. A cozy mystery with a little bit more substance than you often find! On to the third book, a Net Galleyy copy to read for review ☺️
pickGreat sequel! Much better than the first book. Loved all the literary references and fell in love with the characters even more. Definitely a recommended audiobook read!

pickThe ladies in the Secret, Book, and Scone Society joined together to help a complete stranger and to help her heal from her own trauma. No matter what the ladies stuck by Abilene, even when they thought she could be guilty. The ladies were strong female leads who kicked butt!
As a book lover, I loved that the author included references to popular books and literary figures! Every time I came across a reference it made me smile!
I received a nice gift from this author for putting out her postcards at my local library along with Barnes and Noble!
