I'll be taking a moment to acknowledge Sylvia today on the day of her untimely passing. 💔
💜Don't think you're so alone that there is nobody to hear you. You are loved, you are special, you are worthy, and you are enough.
💜Don't hesitate to reach out for help if you're struggling mentally. Your brain lies.

I so love Plath‘s voice that this was a joy for me. Not every story is brilliant. I found something to critic in each. But if you are a fan of Plath it‘s a must read. 4 out of 5 on GR.

I‘m doing A to Z lists for authors and titles this year, and I showed my husband my proposed list tonight. He incredulously asked, “You‘re going to read Ulysses?” Uh, yeah. Then he said I wouldn‘t read The Magus because I started it before and stopped around page 200 when nothing was happening. Sooo next on my list after Plath will be Fowles, then Palmer because I‘m seeing her in concert and finally Ulysses. 📚 Currently on 18/52 btw. 📖

My girlfriend and I are reading this book to each other, at her suggestion. Sylvia Plath writes beautiful prose, and I'm baffled that I never heard about it beyond The Bell Jar.

batsy Yes, so true. I was lucky to read this for a class. 6y
Bertha_Mason That's awesome! That class sounds cool. 6y

#HopIntoSpring Day 25: One does not normally associate a Sylvia Plath novel with a #Smile! but this one clearly does, at least basing from the book cover. I got this from a librarian friend who is leaving Singapore and weeding her collection.

Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks I want this one too!!! ☺️ great choice!! 7y
vkois88 I love the cover!! The way it's done is really cool. 7y
BookishMe I have yet to post my gem haul from the same source ;D 7y

I never knew Sylvia Plath was such a good short story writer- but the pages flew by and many of the stories were, in my opinion, excellent.

10-15-17: Day 15: Poetry. #bookriot #riotgram #sylviaplath #annesexton

DivaDiane Love Sexton's work. I sang on a project with a pianist and an actress. I sang songs the pianist composed on poems by Sexton and the actress recited poems with the pianist improvising. It was powerful. 7y
GidgetsTreasures75 @DivaDiane that sounds amazing! 7y

IamIamIam Love it!!! 8y
monkeygirlsmama The only thing I ready by her was The Bell Jar. I recall enjoying it quite a lot, but it's been ages. 8y
MatchlessMarie @IamIamIam Thanks! I also have Sylvia Plath Reading Her Poetry but not on a pretty hard copy to display. Wah 😭🎻😅 8y

MatchlessMarie @monkeygirlsmama Bell Jar was my first read from her as well. But I read it at a really pivotal time. That book really reached me when I was in my first year of being a sahm and was in a really low place 💙 8y
IamIamIam @MatchlessMarie And I've just noticed that I have the exact bakers rack in my dining room... Matchless Marie, you have met your match!!!!!! 😂😂😂 8y
MatchlessMarie @IamIamIam That's amazing! 😆My Mom left it with us after she moved out. I'm glad I kept it around! 📚📚📚 8y

Got a new credit card and already ordered a load of stuff from Amazon. My therapist is a short downtown and a short bus ride from a Barnes and Noble. I have a 20% off coupon, but I am going to give my new card to my mom. I haven't even gotten my first statement yet and I'm afraid of what the minimum payment will be, lol 😂😂I really need to use the card for the root canal my insurance won't pay for. Being responsible sucks!!! 😍😍📚📚💔💔

Mimi28 Not a short ride downtown sorry, it's about 40 minutes and actually gives me a ton of anxiety. It's one of the reasons I don't go to therapy as often as I should. I ride there for over 40 minutes, talk to my therapist for an hour feeling like an open sore, and then have to come back on the 40 minute ride home feeling VERY exposed. 8y
Notafraidofwords Therapy is challenging but I believe it can rewarding with the right therapist. It takes time. 8y
Mimi28 @Notafraidofwords Thanks! I have been in therapy since I was a tween but my social anxiety is so bad sometimes it's just better if she calls me and I can just stay home. It forces me to get out though which is a good thing, I guess. You're right ❤️thanks❤️ 8y
mcipher Therapy is so wonderful and so awful all at once. Like most good for you things I guess. Enjoy your books, may they make the bus more bearable! 8y
Mimi28 @mcipher I agree. It will probably be March Book 3 today 👍The 20% B&N coupon expired which is probably a good thing, lol 😂Thanks ❤ 8y

So many people are shut up tight inside themselves like boxes, yet they would open up, unfolding quite wonderfully, if only you were interested in them.
