Started this delightful book on Libby app today.
Appropriately, one of my favorite crime novels. 😁 Perdita -- who is NOT Pongo's wife for crying out loud! She's like a sister to him! -- means #Lost.

Loved all the dogs and their pets. So cute and sweet despite the evil of De Vil. Cruella really is a great villain, completely despicable. First book completed and off my nightstand for #summerendreadathon
The #ChildrensClassicRead2023 for August was a clear winner! I read the audiobook which turned out to be a BBC ensemble performance. It was excellent, very entertaining. Really enjoyed the story too. 4/5⭐️

Really enjoyed this classic, especially how the animals communicate with each other. And how cool that author Dodie Smith was such a devout dog lover, she even owned up to 9 Dalmatians herself. (Or did they really own her!) 😉 What fun watching all the movies, which I‘ve never seen. Glenn Close nails Cruella, and the latest version with my 2 favorite Emmas is sooo good too. Gotta read Dodie‘s bio next!

A delightful read that closely mirrors the Disney adaptation. Strong characterisations, lovely illustrations. A fun read!

We have an unusual weekend weather forecast for Southern California this weekend, a rare tropical storm. I‘ve prepped the yard, I have supplies, and I‘m all set with my weekend reads. Now time to hunker down and wait out the impending storm.
My current read. I've been in such a reading slump I needed something easy. This has been my favourite film since I was a kid. Plus I'm 101% sure it caused my Dalmatian obsession lol. Happy reading everyone 📚❤️📖 #dalmatian #dogs
101 days of school, too cute not to share with my book friends 🖤🤍🖤🤍
This is one of my all-time favorite books, and one that I reread almost every December. The illustrations by Janet and Anne Grahame-Johnstone are half the delight, though, so please never read an edition without them!! Just look at those chapter-beginning illustrations! Everything about this book is absolute perfection and it is such a comfort read to me!! I can't recommend it enough.
🌲 Happy Earth Day!
🐕🦺 This week I read The Hundred and One Dalmatians for the #MonthlyKeyWordGXO challenge (one). Very cute and the illustrations by Alex T. Smith enhanced the story.
I wasn‘t sure if I‘d like a children‘s story but it was fun. I‘m going to read The Starlight Barking next.

📚 What are you reading?

We ( me & my granddaughter Sofia) have been reading the tagged book ... so will continue with that 👍💕
Also , listening to Love Songs on my walk , but I‘m thinking of getting the print copy as I imagine it would be a lovely read.
Happy reading friends out there 😘

Watching this “perfectly wretched” 😉 Christmas movie before I finally get to Cruella. #WinterGames #WinterGames2021 #TeamGameSleighers

An interesting choice of cover art for 100 and 1 Dalmations, fitting for the new movie Cruella.
Is there anything more English than a scarecrow festival?
Daisy better be careful - Cruella might want a new coat.
I am reminded of an ice storm in my childhood in Missouri, sometime in the 1970s. The power was out but we had a wood stove and I read Smith‘s book by the snowlight coming in the patio door. Yes, there must have been cold pouring off the glass, but I only remember Pongo and Missis and Perdita in the snow. #winter
2378 points for week two!! #WinterGames #MerryReaders
I'm closing in on a LOT of bingo blackouts so hoping to get some extra points this week!! I really need a story where children are in Christmas costumes & someone else is wearing a Christmas sweaters while driving a vintage American vehicle, sipping eggnog, & not remembering where they are because they have amnesia!! 😂
@Clowjick
I love this book so much!! While the Disney version is perfectly fine, the original story has more characters & more humor (although it lacks catchy show tunes). A delightful story that ends on Christmas day, making it always feel like a Christmas story to me. If you decide to read this one - and you should! - make sure to get an edition with the original illustrations by Janet & Anne Grahame Johnstone - they add SO much to the story!
Another book and a puzzle! I‘ve had the paperback since I was a kid—it‘s a little chewed on one corner and the pages are definitely yellowed but it‘s holding together pretty well. May have to watch the movie now for some book-puzzle-movie synergy!
This one always seems Christmasy to me, since the grand finale is on Christmas Eve. If you've never read the actual book, you definitely should as it is absolutely perfect.

I have a question for everyone: who here would be interested in doing a nostalgia swap? It‘s an idea that‘s been floating around my head for awhile. Also, are there any good swaps that still have signups open? I was so sad I missed the Valentine‘s Day swaps and St. Patrick‘s Day. I was sick both times and missed the signups!

This was such an odd book. It was entertaining, but it was weird at some points. I'm a huge fan of the Disney movie, so it was nice to see where Walt and his team found inspiration from. I will say, I think the movie took the best bits from the book and made a great movie there is one scene I wish they kept and also amp up Cruella's madness/evilness because she was delightful to read in the fun but strange book. 3/5 stars.
I picked this book up on a whim last weekend at Goodwill. Of course, I have seen the movie so many times. I have kids! The book was so much fun to read to compare to the movie. There were differences, but it was the same great story. Parts of the book were dated: for instance, Missis was not as smart as Pongo, but things like that were easy to forgive.
🎀 On the whole, I‘ll read one at a time. But if I‘m struggling with a book, I‘ll pick up another to read as well.
🎀 Definitely a movie.
🎀 Outside looking in, but if I‘ve really enjoyed a book I have a habit of creating new characters and plot lines so I can keep the story going in my head. I find it hard to let go sometimes 😂
🎀 101 Dalmatians by Dodie Smith.

MAY 11 PROMPT: Lost Books
This 1957 Edition of the Hundred and One Dalmatians had been hidden from me as a child because my mother could not trust me to keep from coloring the illustrations (yes, that‘s my handiwork above) #lostbook. Although this is considered a first edition, the story appeared in serial form in Woman‘s Day Magazine as “The Great Dog Robbery” in 1956 & 1957.

My kids loved this book when the were little, but I didn‘t remember what was under the dust jacket. #nakedHardcovers #riotgrams @Liberty

An old photo of my niece reading 101 Dalmatians to the cat.
Dog-tired this morning, so I have become a book.
Has anyone else read 101 dalmatians? Cruella is still such a wonderful and fun villain 😁

Day 27: I used to have a Dalmatian. Her name was Shadow. I'm so torn with getting a dog for my girls 😬 I just don't know

We popped into the £ shop today and I just had to buy this for Willow!
I hear it's national puppy day! This is my Perdita! She makes my life brighter and gives me a reason to get every morning. She loves long walks and snuggles! I rescued her, but she rescues me every day! The best pup a girl could ask for! #nationalpuppyday
