A Miss Marple mystery. I haven‘t read a lot of this series but I feel like Miss Marple doesn‘t show up a lot in the book. Most of it is the mystery unfolding and then Miss Marple finally shows up. This one definitely surprised me!

Delightfully twisty as always. I liked how much Marple was involved this time 'round, she didn't just pop in at the end, as has happened occasionally before. I'll admit that I would have had a better time if the number of characters whose primary descriptors could be 'flaky, irritating' was reduced, but there were a number of points where such flighty tendencies were useful for plot purposes. 1/?
The casual assumption, the 'I know better' tone, all based on the social mores of the time, the kind of thing some people still can't let go of.
YUCK. ๐
Dammit, I KNOW it's perfectly banal archaic slang but I cannot read it with a straight face! ๐ซข๐คญ
Finally somebody said it. ๐
My #doublespin this month was so much fun! It‘s rare I find an Agatha Christie I don‘t enjoy, but that also makes it rare for one of her‘s to be especially standout. I can‘t say exactly what it is that makes this one join the ranks of my favorite Christie‘s any more than I could have solved the mystery ahead of Miss Marple, but it‘s definitely something I‘ll keep pondering. @TheAromaofBooks
Finally starting to get a little strength back after several crazy draining weeks causing a major flare. But I‘m still trying to spend most of my time in bed so I don‘t overdo it and end up right back where I started. Luckily kitty and Miss Marple are helping me out. This is one of the most all consuming stories I‘ve picked up in months! Just read 100 pages straight through without even noticing!
Finished my January #doublespin selection. This is a solid Christie mystery. I read it for my Mystery, Murder, and Mayhem class, so I was playing extra special attention. And as you can see from the background, I had A LOT of thoughts and theories; some correct, some way off.

I like this one (narrated by Emilia Fox) quite a bit! I feel like Christie is pushing the envelope a little more with social conventions in this one, and I find it quite fun. Miss Marple is always a joy, though. She's one of those ladies who seems so prim and then says the most surprising things about murder and sex and relationships. The epilogue with the newspapers is completely beyond me, but aside from that, I was totally along for the ride.
โA murder is announced and will take place on
Friday, October 29th (that's today), at Little Paddocks at 6.30 p.m.
Friends please accept this, the only intimation.‘
I'm so pleased that I was able to fill in my entire #CozyMysteryBingo board! Even though we didn't have to restrict ourselves to cozy mysteries, I did finish 4 from that genre while doing the challenge. Thanks @AnnR for hosting!

A murder is announced, everyone in the village shows up to the party, someone is killed and Miss Marple outwits the killer. Classic Agatha Christie!

New reading ruleโฆ.. I‘m only reading books that match my pup! ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ
I am just loving my year of Marple so far! This was my fourth. Impersonations abound and some of my favorite Miss Marple moments yet (the broom cupboard ๐). Looking forward to number five!
I enjoyed this - good Christie mystery - I did not guess the ending (as usual) - a murder is announced in the paper- people attend thinking it is a murder mystery game but a real murder occurs - during the investigation more murders occur - Miss Marple comes in and helps solve the case.
@rwmg I believe I saw the same clue but discounted it as well - thought it was an editorial oversight ๐คฃ

This is 1 of my favorite AC. I prefer Marple murders, and this is full of mistakes identity, lies, twists and turns. The characters are easy to tell apart and you know most are important. Also no one can tell me this wasn't a sapphic read. All these lady "roommates". Love it.
What appeared to be a practical joke takes a grim turn when the prankster kills himself by accident or on purpose. Was it actually an attempt to murder Letitia Blacklock?
I noticed a major clue but dismissed it because (see spoiler below)

Christie is my go-to comfort mystery writer. I can‘t help but love being stumped by her.
Just started with this! So far it's interesting! And im pretty sure its going to continue that way since it's Agatha Chirstie! This is my first Marple mystery though! Few sentences are hard to grasp but it is common when reading her books!
โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ I‘m never disappointed by Christie! She kept me guessing to the last moment
Miss Marple is in fine form in this classic English village mystery!
Second book finished for #AwesomeApril and #ShutdownRound3 readathons.
@Andrew65 @DieAReader
This was clever, twisty, everything a Christie should be, yet we didn‘t click.
The first third is without Mrs. Marple, and our victim is only introduced after he‘s hit the floor. No hook for me, but I pressed on. While I enjoyed exploring the lush, tangled, very British web woven around the crime, as well as the book‘s discussion of quality of life and will to live, these made the total carnage too distressing for me to enjoy the cheery epilogue!
Another enjoyable destress reread. One of my favourites of all time. โญโญโญโญโญ
These last couple of weeks I've been listening to old favorites from my library. Ended up listening to quite a few as I've been โfall cleaningโ. Been lots of fun to revisit Miss Marple, Hercule Poirot and Amelia Peabody.
It all starts when an ad is placed in a paper, saying a murder will take place at a local home. It was thought to be a joke, but things unravel when it actually happens as advertised. Plenty of twists in this Ms. Marple novel!
Adding some mystery to my diet at the suggestion of @veritysalter

And I made it! My final stats for #StayHome24in48 #readathon is just over 25hrs, 3 books finished(2 crime novels, 1 GN) & 1 almost finished audiobook. Not as great as my normal times but I did battle a pretty bad headache in there as well. I also managed to knock off two more books for my #MarchUnshelfing #challenge & gave away a stack of books to my dad who is where I get my love of reading from but he doesn‘t have the library I‘m lucky to haveโฅ๏ธ
I‘m about 2/3 through Wild Fire but can‘t keep my eyes open anymore, so I‘m switching to an audiobook of one of my favourite Miss Marples. After a couple of hours sleep I‘ll be ready to finish my #StayHome24in48 #readathon and add some more books to my #MarchUnshelfing #challenge. How‘s everyone else doing?
Finished The Thirteen Problems and actually guessed a few correctly! Moving ahead through the Miss Marple novels to #5. #myyearwithagatha
Friday read, continuing my Serie of Miss Marple stories.
I guessed some of the mystery but not much of it in this one. I usually just go along for the ride with Christie novels instead of trying to guess. There was some early suspicions and prejudice about โforeignersโ, definitely still relevant today. There were several times that old ladies were called Pussy, which made me laugh. One certain line would be taken very differently now. ๐
This is a book over 200 pages for #scaryscavengerhunt @Clwojick
I can't say why I enjoyed this one so much. I called nearly every twist & every secret identity. (I also called some twists & secret identities that failed to materialize, so maybe that's not so much impressive but good odds.) Still, with a fun premise & classically enjoyable Christie characters, the main downside was that there wasn't nearly enough Marple. But I still liked it, and would reread this one.
I love Agatha Christie because I love putting together the #clues in each story to solve the mystery. I'm getting better at it too!

And what's wrong with lending someone a good book? ๐คฃ
Tea, Miss Marple, reading socks, and Britcoms for this rainy evening.
Current read is fun. Partially just because I was really feeling it, and partially because I was inspired by the interview with Ben Philippe.
