Glad I read Shea Ernshaw's “Winterwood“ first, which immediately became a favorite. This story just didn't manage to enchant me as deeply.
Not to say that this wasn't good, because it was interesting.
A sad, tragic, love story.
The last bit, “Land and Sea“ was a perfectly, sweet ending for this story. Truly befitting a ghostly tale.

Thanks @dabbe for the tag and Thank you @Cupcake12 for creating this play~tag~share card.
1- tackle some errands.
2- Chinchilla...they're like little cuties from a cozy cartoon.
3- There is a bunch of different creatures I would love to be...a surprising pick for me would be the Jaguar. Surprising, because the feline comes in around #20 on my “favorites“ list. Yet, over the last 2years, the Jaguar has been catching my attention for some reason.
With Summer just around the corner, about time for me to start this one again...
Thank you @Eggs for creating this play~tag~share card & for the tag.
1- The tagged book has been on my 'reading now“ list for awhile... haven't abandoned this story, just decided to wait for Summer (or closer to Summer), the season this story is based. In a cursed small town, teenage girls are possessed and teenage boys are lured to fullfil a promised revenge each Summertime.
2- 🤔there are too many fantastic worlds for me to choose📚🎬📚🤗.
I have had so many notifications due to #Scarathlon I lost track of who sent this but thank you for my #AllHollowsReadSwap!
A trio of sisters drowned as witches come back every summer to take revenge on the town that killed them by drowning teenaged boys. This had so many plot holes and problems that it became absolutely ridiculous. Full review at http://booknaround.blogspot.com/2022/11/review-wicked-deep-by-shea-ernshaw.html?...
4✨There is an annual festival for the three “witches” who were drowned. Now every year the sisters kill three boys in revenge by possessing the girls of this town. I liked the story, but because of the dynamic of this story it was basically 2 characters in one, which tended to be difficult to follow. Finished before the new year.
I had a lot of catching up to do, but I finally got to the last book in my 12 month challenge. Hopefully, will finish it today or tomorrow. 🥰 @Littlewolf1

There was a lot of hype around this book, while it was just a bit predictable it was still a good read. Glad I read it!

I just cracked this one open and by page 14, I have a couple of issues already. ::sigh:: It‘s the book club book for Wednesday though so I‘ll have to just crack on and hope I don‘t continue to have issues.
#OminousOctober #Day21 #Wicked This was Ernshaws debut novel, a story a cursed town & three sisters who were drowned for being witches centuries ago. Now every summer they return to claim the body of any weak hearted girl so they can lure men & boys to their deaths. I loved it! #Scarathlon #TeamSlaughter 6pts
Thank you @mklong I loved seeing the lavender when I opened my box. It smells amazing! I'm so excited about these books and the hiking book. I can't wait to explore my area! I've already found a place for the garland (my bookshlef) and the picture. Love the quote! I'm also excited about the bulbs! Can't wait to see them bloom :)

Well, that was quick...but I just couldn't put it down! I happened upon this book at the library, and had to get it cause it was so beautiful (with the stars and moons I'm obsessed with). When I started it, I was freaking cause I share a birthday with the Swan sisters! Lol It is dark and beautiful which is exactly how I like it! I give it 5/5✨
I really enjoyed this! It was not even on my radar, except that it fit a monthly challenge. Primarily the story was set in current day with Penny and Bo, but there were flashbacks to tell the Swan sisters story, as well.
And we continue with the readathon. 📚👻🐈⬛📖
Since I still can't decide which one to read. I'll be doing my own little 48 hours marathon reading these books. 📚
I'm on vacation so I wanted to do something fun and stay up until my eyes can't stays open anymore to read. 👀😴
Dark eerie atmosphere, lots of mystery. World building+descriptions were well written+poetic. Like Penny+her down to earth attitude+ her secret (Can't say because of spoilers!)The romance was so good+Bo was super dreamy. Loved the tragic love story with one of the sisters. The book reminded me of Hocus Pocus+Jennifer's Body. Love the snippets of history about Sparrow. Loved the huge plot twists but did predict most. The ending was so fitting.
"Perhaps we all have some oddity, some strangeness we keep hidden along out edges, things we see that we can't explain, things we wish for, things we run from."
Christie! @TheLudicReader I am sending you a letter but forgot to explain casewrap! Casewrap binding is a style of hardcover where paper or cloth is printed and then wrapped onto the cases that make up the hardcover itself. They are glued on, unlike a dust jacket. Usually it has a design and can include the information a dustjacket does without the need for a dustjacket. Ernshaw‘s book has a hidden casewrap beneath the dustjacket. 🙂 #litsylove
This was the perfect read for a cold, rainy, peaceful Memorial Day weekend at the shore.
I just adore Shea Ernshaw's writing--atmosphereic, poetic, and revealing only just enough. I can look past the insta-love and other tropes, because the Ernshaw's writing alone is enough to drag me in. This is what I like to see in my YA!
Not quite 5 stars like Winterwood, but a solid 4.5 for me ⭐
Finished this book today. While I felt the story was a bit predictable, I did love the atmosphere. Two centuries ago, three sisters were killed by drowning, thought to be witches. Then every summer since, they come back, taking over the bodies of three girls and the boys of the town of Sparrow are not safe. This year, a boy named Bo comes to town and Penny feels a need to keep him safe. But they are both keeping secrets.
About 2/3 of the way through this one. Love the book under the dust jacket, too. This has been on my tbr pile for way too long. A good, quick, and intriguing read so far.
#TBRPile 📚 Two centuries ago, in the small, isolated town of Sparrow, three sisters were sentenced to death for witchery. Stones were tied to their ankles and they were drowned in the deep waters surrounding the town. Now, for a brief time each summer, the sisters return from the depths, stealing the bodies of three weak-hearted girls so that they may seek their revenge, luring boys into the harbor and pulling them down to their watery deaths...
I‘m posting one book per day from my ever-increasing TBR. No description. No explanation. Just books to read. Join the fun if you want.
Day 29.

I absolutely loved the atmosphere of this book. It had a very Salem-like, haunting vibe, mixed with something more modern but still believable. It felt like Twilight mixed with The Craft/Practical Magic (I know they are movies). I liked the descriptive elements - the writer at times had a poetic approach that allowed a chilling, Halloween like atmosphere to permeate the book - in a reassuringly traditional way. A great winter fireside book.
4/5 🌟
Although predictable, I really loved the writing and the beautiful imagery. Ernshaw did an awesome job setting the somber and ominous tone. Great spooky read!
Another tale of gossipy small towns becoming cursed because they don‘t like outsiders. Sigh, will they never learn? +16 #TeamHarkness #Scarathlon2020 #Screamathon2020
This was also my October #BookSpin. #BookSpinBingo
Yesterday was not a great reading day. I only put in 1 hour for the #LittenListen and 6 hours overall. There is magic on this planet, it is contained in water. —Loren Eiseley
There is something peaceful with water, whether you gaze on it or float on it.
This book is about betrayal, selfishness, jealousy, forgiveness and love.

#TBRPile Day 30 📚Hocus Pocus meets Practical Magic meets the Salem witch trials in this YA fantasy that sounds perfect for Halloween 🎃
Oh man... what can I say about this book except that I hated EVERY SINGLE PAGE. Like seriously this was the most underwhelming predictable cliché ridden book I might have ever ever read and there is not a single likable character for me.
I use to see nothing but good things about this book and I'm like did I read the wrong book or.... the only reason I didn't DNF it is I was reading it for a readathon and as a buddy read.
Finished this last night and just remembered to post a review for it. It was pretty good and a bit chilling. I kind of saw the twist coming but I didn‘t mind too much. I really like the atmosphere of this book. I love that cover so much.
The sisters arrived in Sparrow, Oregon, in 1822 aboard a fur trading ship named the Lady Astor, which sank later that year in the harbor just beyond the cape. #firstlinefridays
A captivating read that was haunting, magical and beautiful. A story about sacrifice, love, and revenge. A powerful tale littered with outstanding imagery of a cursed seaside town.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Loved It!!!
Literally my favorite color. I've even used that description before
Last book of my OWLS magical readathon, and the last YA book I‘m reading for April. Loved the sleepy little town setting that you could feel, and the basis of the storyline. There were some aspect of the story that I could‘ve lived without, but all in all a pretty good book. #owls #magical readathon #yaapril #youngadult #buddyreads #overbookedclubed
I‘ve not been thrown by a twist in a while, so that really pleased me in this book. She got me! What a cool story about witches—it felt new, fresh, intriguing. I really liked her characters and the way the magic worked. The plot was perfect. I loved the writing. The atmosphere was everything I could have wanted in a witchy book by the sea. The logic was strong. All-in-all, an enjoyable witch book perfect for a stormy night.
I might love him. And it has tilted my universe off center, the frayed edges of my life starting to unravel. Loving someone is dangerous. It gives you something to lose.
But how do you let your self unravel in front of someone, knowing your armor is the only thing keeping you safe? So I don‘t say anything. I keep my heart hidden deep and dark in my chest.
He sees the same thing in me: a chasm of secrets so deep and wide and unending that it bleeds from me like sweat. We both carry it. A mark on our skin, a brand burned into flesh from the weight of our past. Perhaps only those with similar scars can recognize it in others. The fear rimming our eyes.
Sometimes I feel just like that hull: scarred and dented and left to rust since he vanished somewhere out at sea.
