I was looking forward to this book as I have a strong biology/chemistry background. I really wanted to like it but couldn't get further than halfway due to Darwin's painful ramblings and long drawn-out arguments. While there is substance there (obviously, it's an historic work), the diction and argumentative structure just isn't there.
Should I be concerned that my library tracking app thinks Charles Darwin is fiction? Yes, I corrected it. It‘s now listed under Science.

Gotta love Goodwill to get your book fix on a budget. 🥰😍 Yes, there is faith based books and Charles Darwin. I‘m a lady of faith, but also a Science Teacher. 🤗
1. Tagged. (Though debatable whether it‘s “underrated” in certain circles, I don‘t think it circulates through humanity the way it should...)
2. The Great Gatsby
3. The Book Thief (If it doesn‘t end up a classic, I‘ll lose my faith in humanity)

Tagged some peeps, but everyone is welcome to play! ❤️
Date night! The story of a young Charles Darwin aboard the Beagle - it‘s in the Natural History Museum so I‘m expecting an amazing backdrop!
Got to go to the new natural history museum here in the Twin Cities! All sorts of fun about evolution happened today. They also had a great exhibit on lichen and a bunch of interact exhibits like making dioramas and sketching animals!

Another picture of our play, Inherit the Wind, as seen from the cast perspective. No, I‘m not over it yet. Readers make particularly good actors. And the fourth wall protects the introvert. If you‘ve never auditioned for a play or served as a crew member, find the opportunity and do it. Chances are you‘ll love it.
What's your favorite thrift store book find?
I was browsing my local thrift store's book section and found this! It's a beautiful, leather bound Origin of Species by Charles Darwin. It has beautiful illustrations and gold edges on the pages. I picked it up for only $3! 😁👏
Look what I got! Some people really know me 😃👏🏼💗
Wow that was difficult. I do feel smarter though!!
An awesome art print created from the text of Origin of Species.
Day 12 of #FallIntoBooks #GoldAndSilver
I own a few gold and silver books, but this is my favourite. I bought this from The British Museum simply because I loved the cover (and that it's a very interesting book)
Someone shared a picture of this book from Barnes & Noble... security sticker stuck to the page! 😱

For the full effect, here is one of my reading nooks in my house. I've had this chair for over 20 years. My end table had a built-in magazine rack, Mr. Z made the bookcase, and the poster is one of those that uses book text to make the image. Book is the one linked. The only thing missing is a footrest.
A must read for the scientist community even if it's a touch outdated.
Look at what words can do.
Darwin had an idea - an absurd, unorthodox, beautiful idea. He researched his idea, thought about it, made observations, asked his friends about it, and then had the nerve to put it into print.
This is my motivation for today. The guy who was cool enough to say - "the view which most naturalists entertain ... is erroneous."
??
It's amazing how right Darwin managed to be. But then he was also meticulous and careful to test hypotheses and listen to others. An excellent scientist!
Day 25 of #Riotgrams: favorite quote.
"There is grandeur in this view of life, with its several powers, having been originally breathed into a few forms or into one; and that, whilst this planet has gone cycling on according to the fixed law of gravity, from so simple a beginning endless forms most beautiful and most wonderful have been, and are being, evolved."
Staffing the book store at CFI for Darwin Day. Happy Birthday, Chuck!
I am looking forward to having read this, so between that and my fairly detailed knowledge of biology I can defend the theory of evolution while admitting where Darwin was wrong.
Just spent far too long trying to explain to someone on goodreads that "micro" and "macro" evolution are not distinct and the former makes the latter inevitable...
My bookish tattoo . . . The bird on top is a Darwin Tanager a la Origin of Species. The bottom is an ambigram of my name and my hubby's (Ryan). And kudzo all around, because you can't ever kill it 😉#bookishtattoo #riotgrams
this is the closest I can get to #BooksAboutNature.. sooner or later I will read it, I promise! (it's on my TBR since highschool 🙈🙈🙈)

What an interesting read 😊 honestly it was a touch dry at times, but very worth pushing through to the meatier parts 🤓I've listened to a lot of debates that spring from the info in this book and I'm excited to join in now that I'm more informed 😊 Thoroughly awesome read 😊and my handsome cat Gatsby agrees 😊
Burning the midnight oil, digging that old book smell. #inspiration #historian #mamawritesanovel #trekkie #philipkdick #typewriter #darwin #paradesend
Not a great beach read. The book requires concentration and the Pacific is distracting #readingoutside
Random pic of the day. Here is my book art - the dark spaces in the photo is the entire text of On the Origin of Species. I wish I could collect more but I don't think Mr. Z wants a whole house of literary art.
I tried to start reading this a while ago but it was too much for me. Maybe in a couple of years? I haven't read enough nonfiction to properly enjoy it at this point.
