My tentative September tbr. I'm so excited for #spookyseason!

#LittensDressedInBlood – Monster Mash – This is a dark, strange book about gender, identity, and one‘s place in society. It‘s also full of monsters who call themselves werewolves and various other things.
This book is awesome. It's also really hard to describe. Outside a tent in Kolkata, a man meets another who claims to be a werewolf, or half a werewolf. The whole book is about identity. It's also a really compelling story.
I probably picked it because of this gorgeous cover. I have a lot of books on my library wish list. Don't judge. Lol.

This book was recommended by fellow Charles deLint fans. It‘s been awhile since I‘ve read any urban faerie tales. Edit to add: it‘s a werewolf/ shapeshifter story. Except for Oliver Reed I‘ve not liked werewolves. The “ick” factor is high.
Nope. Great opening but nothing is happening in this one. Just more and more devouring. I‘m outty.
I‘m not sure what to say about this book. I feel like I wanted it to be more than it was. Or it wanted to be more than it was. Or maybe it was more and I didn‘t see it? 🤷🏻♀️ I read it for a book club and I‘m looking forward to our discussion.
I‘ve been struggling with this one. But now I think Cyrah and Gèvaudan are going to fall in love and somehow that has really grabbed my attention! So of course it‘s time to go back to Alok‘s POV…
I am having way too much trouble following this in audio. I can't tell the difference between the frame narrative and the story the werewolf is telling. I guess I'll have to try this in print instead! #QueerBooks

#kindledeal on this beautiful looking book!! I totally bought this based on the cover a while ago but have heard good things about it.
Psyche! Out of nowhere Squidapus read The Devourers and holy crap it was incredible! The tale of a man in India who meets a stranger that envelops him in ancient tales of mythical werewolves. But it's so much more. Beyond a fascinating story with wonderful prose it also tackles themes of misogyny within Indian and the world at large and ideas of gender and sexuality. The characters are so full and developed, even the worst of them. Read this book!
If you did not enjoy reading The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova, do not read this book. If you want a erotic story based in India about shapeshifters devouring souls of humans while dealing with the power of change from struggling with desire vs possession vs love, read this book. If you are interested in a Highlander/Princess Mononoke/Muslim/Hindu/history professor/monster mash up, read this book.
A few recent findings from the Dollar Tree 🖤
The Devourers was a pure cover buy.

1. The Devourers by Indra Das has an awesome cover 2. Working at the bookstore and then attending a literary burlesque show (?!)
3. Red.
4. Probably still Stacey - works for any gender 😊
5. Thanks for the tag @bookseller_cate - Anyone reading this far can consider themselves tagged - now I‘m off to ❤️ a bunch of posts
1. The tagged book I bought solely based on the cover but it sounds good too.
2. Neither? I don‘t really celebrate Valentine‘s Day unless my husband will buy me books 😂
3. Hot pink
4. I still would have been Carrie (maybe spelled differently?)
5. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

I read this as my epistolary novel for the #ReadHarder challenge @bookriot . The story was incredible, and the writing was evocative, but unfortunately what it was most commonly evoking was bodily fluids and functions...which makes me very uncomfortable.

2. Indra Das
(Most realistic werewolf book I've ever read. I highly recommend it. Warning, very graphic.)
3. Dexter
4. Dr. Pepper
I had trouble thinking of foods beginning with D!

Day 3 of the 10-Books-That-Changed-Me challenge is Indra Das‘ The Devourers
I nominate MommyWantsToReadHerBook to play along. For 10 days, post the cover of a book that changed you, without context
Litsy isn‘t letting me tag rn, so watch the comments 😐
This is an epic shapeshifter story! It defies description, it is so good. This is exactly how shapeshifters would be: mystical, magical, bloody, and raw and real at the same time. I eagerly await more from this author.
Everyone BUT the #shesgotclaws. A tale of shapeshifter/werewolf men. One of them sees a woman and despite her indifference says he is in love with her. He is of a pack of 3 and jealousies and all other human follies befall the godly group as the paramour goes out of his way to prove his love. Meanwhile, this whole story which is written on a scroll of human flesh is being told to a human outside a party. I really liked this book. Happy #NuYear
A few books I received as presents this holiday season from Sir Betrothed! ❤️❤️

#ebookdeal I haven‘t read it yet but I am obsessed with the cover.
Traveling to Buffalo for work this weekend. Plenty of time to make some headway on my Kindle and Audible current reads. And the Army-Navy game! #GoNavyBeatArmy
Horror and fantasy enmesh in this savage novel of shapeshifters who prey on humans and sometimes, though it‘s forbidden, become entranced with them. A dark and literally visceral tale that reveals a different world where survival depends on the poetry of blood and bone. Unforgettable. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This is one of those weird books that took me forever to get through even though I really liked it. I love werewolves (even though they're not really werewolves), and it was really refreshing to have a setting outside of Europe.
This was a really intriguing take on shape shifter mythology, written in a similar vein to Interview With a Vampire, taking place in both modern and ancient India. I love this cover. #SouthAsianWriters #anditsaugust
Interesting premise. Creepy, which I love. Rather graphically violent at times.
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! @TheWordJar EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!! 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊 (thank you it's perfect) EEEEEEEEEE!!! (you're stalking game is on point!!)

I love this quote. Once upon a time, I was a history major. And despite not working in that field, I still love it.
The writing is stunning and the language beautiful, but this is giving me nightmares. It's too dark for me. Sadly I must bail.

Trigger warnings for violence and rape in this novel. If you can get past that though, you'll be in for a gorgeous and very, very dark fairytale about the power of stories and storytellers, and about change and transformation.
A giddy, riotous, fever dream of a book. I love when you find the moment in a debut novel when you see the author hit his stride.
#marchintoreading this book choice was initially all about the cover...& the book did not disappoint! #judgedbyitscover
