This book has a good premise - a teen who is trying to live a normal life, but unfortunately is turned into a superhero and now has to deal with spidey senses on top of everything else. Also unfortunately, I was not a fan, I wanted to be, I tried so hard to be, but alas it was not in the cards for me. Others love this book, so I would say give it a chance if you want.

Thoroughly enjoyable! I loved Jason Reynolds‘ take on a superhero story. The enemy isn‘t a giant crazy monster super villain. The enemy is racism and it‘s creepy and unpredictable how that ends up working itself out. I love miles morales and am finding canon books easier to read during the pandemic. You already know the character and the world and just get to enjoy the ride. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The book was good but not amazing like most of Jason Reynolds' books are. It definitely needed more action.

The Book Raiders will be reading Miles Morales for the month of February thanks to the generosity of a fellow teacher. I am still weepy and in disbelief of the kindness that was shown to me. I really enjoy Jason Reynolds‘s novels, they‘re always unique and thought provoking!

This is what I was doing last night, and all I can say is Good Gracious! This movie is SPECTACULAR! Oozing with cool vibes from every which way. I loved it!!!

Just saw the new Spider Man Into the Spider verse. It‘s AWESOME!!

Probably the best Spider-Man movie yet.

Finished this one up on a flight to Boston. I felt a bit so so about it but I really loved the ending. The villain was much more complicated than other marvel stories. I am hoping for a sequel though! I feel like I had a lot of questions...

Miles Morales brings a new perspective to the Spider-Man story and I am so here for it. Half-black, half Puerto Rican and living in a tough neighborhood, Miles watches his parents struggle to pay the bills. They‘ve sacrificed a lot to send him to a private school, and when he‘s framed for a crime he didn‘t commit, Miles starts to wonder what is really going on at his school.

Another great addition for classrooms and libraries serving teens.

This was so good! Everything that was missing from the comics were included in this novelization of Miles Morales. It‘s great that there‘s more diverse representation in comics and YA, but there needs to be nuance i the characters and their experiences. Miles comes from a working class family but attends a prestigious private HS on scholarship. That combined with being Spider-Man, Miles is up against a lot of pressure. This was an amazing read!

I was not sure if this was a book for me since I grew up on DC comics, but it was so good. I loved how Jason Reynolds wove the story of Miles and his struggles both internal and external. He is a master storyteller in my opinion.

I‘m enjoying these YA superhero tie-in books. This was a fun, quick read about the new Spider-Man, Miles Morales. Thanks to @BookFreakOut for picking up this ARC for me at last year‘s ALA! :)

I usually avoid comic novelizations, but I couldn't resist a Miles Morales one written by Jason Reynolds and let me tell you, it's fantastic. This had the a bad guy in it on the same evil level as Umbridge, except even more sickening and diabolical. MILES FOREVERRRR!!

Cute spidey story with lots of good middle grade thinking in it.

The 1st grader had a Lunar New Year party and performance at school today (he's in a Mandarin immersion prog at a public school) and I got to help the kids make dumplings in class. He wanted more dumplings for dinner!

Sitting with the first grader while he does his homework. He would rather try and see what I'm reading though.

This was a so-so for me. I thought it was a little slow but it‘s also not really my cup of tea. I will recommend it to my middle schoolers at the library because I think they‘ll enjoy the story.

This book was shelved as YA buy it felt a little more middle grade to me. It was pretty simple, not much character development or depth. There was only a little spider man action, at the end. Mostly it was a book about a boy, growing up and learning about who he is.

This was great! Reynolds twists the focus onto Miles's everyday life as our young Spider-Man faces off against his family's finances, his academic prospects, his role as a community member, poetry, and his potential romantic future. I ate it all up.

I did feel the superheroic climax fell a bit flat, but everything before and after it was tops. Be aware, though, it's got a younger YA tone to it. It might even work for mature middle grade readers.

Library loot!

Unfortunately this was kind of disappointing. The characters were great, but the plot kind of fell flat. Miles being Spiderman seemed liked an afterthought and not the main focus.
