Not sure why I am listening to so many books about US politics. Perhaps publishing memoirs is more common amongst American politicians.
I enjoyed listening to Hillary. Whilst this was not as polished as either of the Obamas‘ autobiographies, it was obviously about a specific point of time and written to try to answer the question of what led to her surprise defeat in the 2016 US election.

1. Hillary is such a class act in the midst of defeat compared to our current president!
2. There‘s enough memoirs I haven‘t read, so can‘t think of one more I‘d want to add. 😅

This was a heartbreaker! It takes a strong woman to pull this off. Hats off to Hillary. I hope today turns out better for our nation. 🤞🏼

Full disclosure, I am Canadian. On one hand I know way more about the US than most/all Americans know about Canada. On the other I don‘t know much, especially about the American political system. This book has broken my heart. Hilary is fierce and strong and driven and smart and giving and concerned and wants to do so much good. The US elected Donald Fucking Trump. I‘m not saying Canada doesn‘t have a shit ton to work on. But I‘m crying over this

I‘m late to the What Happened and Audio Walking parties. I‘m trying to use audio books to help me keep on track as I recently lost my job.

I left a job I loved because I could see that my boss was beginning to see me as an easy target for bullying. It broke my heart, as the work I was doing was a lifelong dream.

Listening to Hilary tell her own story is helping me to grow stronger & hope for the future.

I hate squirrels.

I had a bad sleep last night so I have been dragging my ass all day! And I got a mammogram. Also the squirrels are carving one of my pumpkins for me. All that together = on my audio walk listening to Hilary, I felt like crying. Please Vote Trump Out

After trying to work through this for more than two years, I finally finished it. Extremely painful but absolutely necessary.

First book of 2020

2020 has not started out well for me. I can already tell this year will be full of books because they are my escape. Tonight I am reading What Happened my HRC and drinking wine.

• Early morning here...hopefully can turn at least one page before the baby wakes up again 🤞Reading the book I hesitated to pick up for a long time; just want to get a sense of her writing; not a fan at all. For the record, I didn‘t vote for either HRC or DJT. I think our country deserves so much better than either one...here's looking at 2020 and feeling VERY afraid 😱 •

This left me with a mixed bag of emotions - In one hand, I loved the first half in which Clinton provides stories of being a daughter, mother and grandmother which humanizes her in a way that the media suppressed these last few years.⁠

In the other hand, I am still left with questions and wondering what could have happened, what could have been changed, and did we, as a democracy - fail our duty and are now paying for those choices made.⁠

I went to a used book sale today and I‘m pretty sure I lost my mind. Not sure where I am going to store all of these but I sure am looking forward to reading all of them!

There are some frightening statistics in here about what some people believe, and how much made up news was viewed in social media.....but, there is also a sense of optimism. After listening, I feel a sense of renewed spirit, and a duty to make sure this country rises above our differences. I have grandchildren that will inherit what we leave behind, so I choose to participate in making sure that it‘s something I‘m proud of!

While I would so much rather be spending four years with Hillary than living in this dystopian shitshow, I appreciated the chance to read her thoughts in this intelligent, incisive, thoughtful book. She reveals some personal thoughts but also demonstrates with her grasp of things why she was so qualified. This made my blood boil in places and occasionally caused me to tear up, but I‘m really glad I finally read it.

This is hilarious to read, but it would drive me nuts!

Sentences like these make Hillary so relatable. I‘m glad I was finally ready to read her book. 🗂📓📎🖊

I like that the author is the narrator, considering the type of book it is. But I overestimated how much I would enjoy reading the many little details of the campaign (including snack choices and the names of many workers/staffers/friends/etc). I think if this book was at least 200 pages shorter and got more to the point of how she (and the country as a whole) lost, I would not have bailed.

I don't own too many #audiobooks so my #Audiobook #TBRbingo card is much smaller. I should be able to get to all of these this year.

First book of 2019! Over a year ago, I had to set this one aside; living in the DC metro area means I'm saturated by the current political climate already, and I couldn't bear to spend my leisure hours swimming in it too. (Even now, the "Election Night" chapter brought me to tears.) But finishing Michelle Obama's book primed me to pick up Hillary Clinton's again, at long last, and let my heart break a little at what could have been.

I'm late to the party, but if you haven't read this already, and you need convincing, please take my word for it: worth your time.

Finding new (to me) books and authors, an unexpected bonus to this eye opening book.

I won't be winning any awards on Instagram for my photography skills but I tried to showcase the lovely gifts fellow Northern Californian @derr.liz sent me for the #stuffedstockingswap hosted by @Avanders.

The mug of the Golden Gate Bridge was truly a blessing as I was missing The Bay Area and I always forget to get souvenirs when I'm home.

I expected this book to be more about HRC‘s presidential campaign than outside factors. The book is inconsistently cited and gets a bit conspiratorial, particularly regarding Russian collusion. I disagree with HRC on most matters of policy (and on opinion of flavor blasted goldfish), but this book did provide valuable insight into her experience and values.

I started this book last year and couldn‘t get through it - it felt too soon. Trying to listen to it on Audible instead but it‘s still a tough one for me.

I‘m going to revisit this one today in honor of Election Day.

I wish Hillary had been more like her book during the campaign. Still proud of what she‘s accomplished and got to like her a little bit better.

I sent this quote to my husband today, because he is of the incorrect option that flavor blasted are the best goldfish. I prefer whole grain, Hillary stands by original. So he brought all three home! Taste Test!
I am enjoying finding little pieces of joy in this book, which is otherwise pretty painful to read. 💔

Ohhhh I‘m sooo sooo happy right now!! I just snagged this at the yearly library book sale today!!! $2 dollars! Score! Wooohoooo!! I have heard so many good things about this audiobook that I‘m over the moon excited! I will post my book haul later! I just love library book sales!!! Our library always has a great selection but it‘s always cra cra in there trying to look at the books! 🤪🤪🤪🤪

Woof. This was a tough read for me. It‘s infuriating in much the same way the year leading up to the election was. How did we get here? I appreciated the time spent reflecting on that question while reading. The book‘s conclusion brings up many of the themes of another book I‘m “sort of” reading at the moment, Brene Brown‘s Braving the Wilderness. We have so, so far to go. #onward

Currently listening to this on audiobook whilst doing my normal chores - I wanted to give myself some time after the election before doing so but with 2018 looming, I‘m choosing now. I keep my “I Voted” sticker from the 2016 Presidential election on my lamp by my dresser, so I see it every day as a reminder of what happened. I cast my third Presidential vote for the first female candidate ever, and I‘m not sorry. I‘ll never be. #thefutureisfemale

The last US election was one of the most bizarre experiences I‘ve witnessed as an adult. I‘m thankful to do so from the other side of the planet! Such a complex range of factors impacting the end result: foreign interference, domestic interference, cyber security, media, biased media, private information that shouldn‘t have been published and other information that should have. May the world learn from this experience!! An eye opener for me!

That‘s me on Election Day. I came to the office at 6.30AM to guard my trading positions in case the polling went crazy. I was so confident that HRC would win, as confident as I was in Jun‘16 that Brexit wouldn‘t happen!

I remember thinking “Gosh I don‘t know how it feels to be HRC now!” 😞 There‘s nothing new in this book; I think she needed a closure and writing about it helped her to move on. I‘m still with her, and I‘m not even American

😭 Our daughters deserve better. And so did our mothers and grandmothers. And so do we.

My goodness, what could have been. I really like her, especially after getting a peek into her personal life. I‘m going to cry now.
