I had the privilege of attending one of Justice Sotomayor‘s confirmation hearings. She is an amazing woman. Her story is one to admire.

I took a few days off and I decided it would be a Book Shopping Vacation. I accumulated these from indie bookstores, the Women‘s Hall of Fame gift shop, and the Women‘s Rights Historic National Park gift shop. The Sotomayor and Colvin books are author signed. A good vacation haul. #bookhaul
I admire Sotomayor's memoir. Such humble beginnings, yet her perseverance is astounding. She said if she could bottle up whatever she had to every kid so they wouldn't fall to the pitfalls of poverty, she would. Diabetes, alcoholic father, extreme poverty, but she overcame it all. So inspiring!!!

The first Latina named to the Supreme Court swore in the first woman and first Black person to be elected Vice President.
Justice Sotomayor is an author too: https://apple.news/Ar0gY1MJCRWeH-qMtgj3Nsw
I really enjoyed hearing about Sotomayor's journey from the Bronx to the Supreme Court. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐The audio was also great.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor has never been intimidated by challenges. She‘s a badass. This is her life story up until her appointment to the Federal District Court. I like that she stopped there, and hope that one day she, or a biographer, will tell the rest. I had the immense pleasure of meeting her last fall at the Southern Festival of Books. She‘s gracious, warm and funny. PS. The picture book is wonderful for young readers.
I *really* didn‘t want to workout today. Saturday, we leave for the beach and I‘ve been busy shopping/packing and l‘m already in vacation mode. 🌊⛱🍹 But ... exercising will be challenging next week, so I headed to the gym. Thanks to #BFCR2 and #TeamFlow, I found some motivation!
Almost finished with the tagged book. Such an inspiring story!
Sonia Sotomayor is a remarkable woman and role model: brilliant, determined, ambitious, with a high sense of morality, integrity, wanting to help improve people‘s lives and do them justice.
Her story is amazing. My favorite parts were when she talks with passion about her Puerto Rican roots, growing up poor in the Bronx, the love for her family, especially her beloved abuelita (grandmother). The law practice years flagged a bit. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️5/5 I was not expecting to enjoy this as much as I did! I knew nothing about Justice Sotomayor before this, but after learning her story I'm glad this was my book club pick! She is very relatable, down to earth, and truly inspiring. A wonderful memoir!
Anyone read this..I am thinking of reading more biographies this year...thoughts !
OK it is official! The Southern Festival of Books in Nashville, TN starts Friday and they are setting up the vendor tents in War Memorial Plaza- this is the view from my office. Sotomayor is speaking on Saturday- always a great time!
I‘m in awe of the sheer dedication & amount of work she put in at Princeton, Yale & beyond. She‘s so deserving. She was/is such a strong Latina, & took no BS from men who disliked her for being an outspoken woman. 💪🏻🇵🇷
I asked my Puerto Rican grandma if she‘d read it- she pulled out this edition & told me how much she enjoyed it. For someone of her generation I can only imagine how impactful Sonia‘s appointment to SCOTUS must have been.
1. Occasionally
2. I‘d say I read 90% fiction and that‘s probably low.
3. Memoir, food writing
4. The Crown - the book that accompanied the first season of the series.
5. ✅ Her story is really interesting.

US Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor, WHO IS A DIABETIC and was diagnosed at age 2.
We‘re twinsies, clearly. 😁
#NationalBookFestival
Waiting in a very long line at #natbookfest2018 to hear Supreme Court Justice Sotomayor.
I liked this memoir of her life - she tells the story of her childhood, education, and jobs until she was first appointed to a federal judgeship. I was sorry that was when she ended the story. Her involvement in community service is inspiring. #diversenonfiction #Booked2018
🎥 Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid - there‘s an age giveaway right there but just look at them!
🍟 Onion rings!
🎵 Just saw Mamma Mia 2, so . . .
📚 Really liking it so far! It‘s going to be #diversenonfiction for #booked2018
✅✅👍🏻

Excited to go to the National Book Festival in 4 weeks! Prepping by reading some books of authors that will be there! #NationalBookFestival2018 #NatBookFest
Perhaps the best autobiography I have read to date. This book has left me energized and ready to start law school in August.
Completed 6/15/18.
Justice Sotomayor takes us thru her childhood upbringing trials successes and failures in this short memoir. It stops detailing just before her judgeship starts - a disappointment as it‘s a reason I picked it up to begin with. Her story prior to that, growing up in the Bronx projects then making it to Princeton and then Yale is quite the amazing story and is very inspiring. Neatly written in her own voice - I‘ll easily give it 4/5
I really enjoyed this on #overdrive. The story of Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor and her journey to achieving her lifelong dream of becoming a judge. As a history/government/politics nerd, this kept my interest all the way through. I'd recommend it!
Listening to Rita Moreno read this story, and trying to manage my #overdrive holds with Lola's help. She isn't as helpful as she thinks. 😼 #CatsofLitsy
Today's #signedsundays post brought to you by the free book cart at my local library. Can't believe it was a signed copy of Sotomayor's memoir. Seems like the perfect time to celebrate a great Puerto Rican American 🇵🇷
Day 7: #hispanicauthors
I'm pretty disappointed with how few Hispanic Authors I've read. But I am thrilled that my love of lady justices extends to this category!
Any other #autumnreads folks have recommendations for me?
“I will be judged as a human being by what readers find here. There are hazards to openness, but they seem minor compared with the possibility that some readers may find comfort, perhaps even inspiration, from a close examination of how an ordinary person, with strengths and weaknesses like anyone else, has managed an extraordinary journey."
#bookhaul from the Raleigh trip and proof that I'm a sucker for a #usedbookstore.
I hate it when I'm too exhausted from work to walk with a good #audiobook! (Also it got really cold again 😒☹️) #womenshistory #weneeddiversebooks
Love hanging out with these smart ladies! I finished this audiobook this morning - what a story, and glad they chose Rita Moreno to read! Sotomayor is candid about her insecurities and diabetes while detailing her amazing path to the bench - really enjoyed this one.
A very happy holiday. Books, books & more books. #BookChristmasTree #SeasonsReadings2016 @RealLifeReading
Needed some inspiration, so I'm finally listening to Sotomayor's memoir, narrated by Rita Moreno! Great story so far & I'm loving the NYC setting. (On another note: There are approx 85000 filters now on Litsy!)
Finished My Beloved World by Sonia Sotomayor on audiobook, and it was as awesome as she is. Only wish she could have read the entire thing. #bookstagram #books #mybelovedworld #soniasotomayor #audiobook
A truly inspiring memoir by the third woman appointed to the US Supreme Court... from the South Bronx, to Princeton, to Yale Law School, yet still devoted to her family and Puerto Rican heritage. This was a read/listen combination... Rita Moreno's narration was excellent! #NonfictionNovember
Snow day!! 12" and still coming down... giving myself permission to stay home and read all day! If you need me, I'll be #readinginbed ❄️☃️??#photoadaynov16
"...you cannot value dreams according to the odds of their coming true. Their real value is in stirring within us the will to aspire." #NonfictionNovember
This was a very inspiring read. Sonia Sotomayor came across as confident, but also humble woman who values hard work and her family. The whole book is a big case of "nurture vs nature" and for humanity, for asking for help and for not being perfect.
She also shed some light on the special hurdles of being a female lawyer starting in the 80s. And that even Supreme Court Justices have struggled with Imposter Syndrome at one point in their careers.
This book is a good reminder that Trail Blazers didn't start trail blazing when they first stepped into the public light, but mostly have been at it for a while.
Inspiring! A great reminder of other people's challenges and a window into how they can be conquered.
My #favoriteplacetorelax is often in the car as my husband drives. Today we are doing just that and I'm enjoying Sonia's memoir. @TheSpinecrackersBookClub
At the beginning, I thought this would be just another "pull-yourself-up-by-your-bootstraps" story of American exceptionalism, but I'm about halfway through now and it's taken a turn. I'm into the college years, and she makes a lot of good points about the way college works that are as applicable now as they were in the 1970s.
