This book (which I got as an ARC) has been sitting on my shelf for over 7 years. I think it‘s going to be a future #ReadOrDonate pick because that might be the only way it gets read or removed.

One from the tbr for the #hauntedshelf book cover hunt today!
#skeletoncrew
An obvious choice for the #bonfire prompt, but I enjoyed it!

In spite of the somewhat generic plot (lawyer returns to the small town she grew up in to investigate, is haunted by her past), the book started out very promising. It was easy to read and the mystery kept me going. The second half, however, was a bit disappointing, with a messy and rather underwhelming ending. It wasn't bad overall, but I don't expect it to be very memorable.
So this book did not get the best reviews but in all it wasn‘t a bad story. Small town girl moves to the city to only come back 10 years later to investigate the Plastics Industry potentially poisoning the citizens. Yes the ending was rushed and yes the story line bobbed and weaved here and there and never really took a solid focus but it kept my interest and was an easy quick read. Not every book can be perfect!

There is something mesmerizing about the #campfire on this cover.

Meh. It‘s just too much. It ended up feeling convoluted to me. Too much going on. Unlikable characters all around. Too many trigger warnings. It was just meh to me.
Alright, I bailed on this after 30 pages. It was awful. Don't waste your time. 😅
Okay, maybe I'm a little slow here, but did anyone else know that she wrote this book? I absolutely loved her in Breaking Bad, but I had no idea that she's an author!
I know this book has mixed reviews, so I'll let you know what I think. 😁
So, I packed all of my books before I remembered that I have three trips coming up in the next month. 🙃 I went out looking for books to take on the trips & ended up with this haul for $20 from a new thrift store in town. 😍 I'd say that was a happy accident.
This book received so much hype on Litsy way back in 2017, so it‘s a belated #BlameItOnLitsy read. Unfortunately, Bonfire is a pretty generic thriller that relies on some overdone tropes (i.e. a main character who returns to her hometown and uncovers a bunch of secrets from the past) and didn‘t offer anything new or exciting. The abundance of subplots, reliance on convenient discoveries, and a rushed ending didn‘t help my enjoyment at all. 2⭐️
Dollar Tree for the win!
Funny story: I bailed on this book when i got it from the library. I dont even remember how far i got! But for $1.00 and no time limit, ill give it another go!
This was one of the first #BOTM books I got 3 years ago. I‘m hoping to meet my goal of catching up completely by the end of the year. Wish me luck, only 33 to go! 🤦🏻♀️
Anyhoo, this wasn‘t terrible for a debut and it had so much potential, but ultimately was very predictable imo. Not so bad I wouldn‘t give another of her books a try. 3⭐️
Book from March #DoubleSpin @TheAromaofBooks It is a thriller so it is better to go blind. A small town, a powerful industry, environment concerns, minor exploitation. I know Abby can be an annoying character, sometimes I couldn't stand her. The end was ok. But the story made me think in one real case which is still under investigation where persons well known have been related with minor abuse. This book surprised me. I enjoyed it 3.75⭐️
I recently saw a #onewordtitle tag pop up in Instagram my feed and I decided that I didn‘t need an invitation to join in on the party! I was surprised by how easy it was to find books with one word titles in my stacks. Most of these are TBR books but I have read two of them. Can you guess which two? What books do you have with one word titles?
Catching up on some #FallIsBooked prompts. #OrangeCover and #Bonfire. These two books are still on my TBR, but I think they are perfect for this Fall season, so I'm moving them up to hopefully read next month!
It has been ten years since Abby Williams left home and scrubbed away all visible evidence of her small town roots. Now working as an environmental lawyer in Chicago, she has a thriving career, a modern apartment, and her pick of meaningless one-night stands. But when a new case takes her back home to Barrens, Indiana, the life Abby painstakingly created begins to crack. #bonfire #fallisbooked

#Bonfire - I mean, how could I not go with this book for today‘s prompt?! 🤷🏻♂️ Plus, it seemed appropriate picking a book written by a superhero while wearing a superhero tie! 🦸🏻♀️
A fun quick read - not bad for her debut. I liked the way details were given as breadcrumbs, forcing you to draw your own conclusions and guess the real enemy.
That last paragraph hit me hard.
As someone who struggled with being not popular but not unpopular in high school, that one hit home. 🙅🏻♀️
“The villains always get better outfits.” 🦸🏻♀️
The reviews on here for this make it seem like it‘s mediocre but I‘m pleasantly surprised so far. 🤷🏻♀️
7-22-19: My 60th finished book of 2019! #bonfire #kristenritter 👍🏼📖#️⃣6️⃣0️⃣
I‘ve been in a terrible reading slump lately that I CANNOT seem to shake.
Went to the Half Price Books Tent Sale today hoping something would tempt me. But it was small and crowded and only found a few things in the end. Still slumping. 🤨😖
WOW! High school trauma haunts Abby Williams to the level of obsession after she's brought back to her hometown to litigate against the local water filtration plant, which is the darling of Barrens, having revitalized the area. Can Abby uncover what happened to Casey, who bullied her relentlessly but was a major player in The Game? Great choice for #Booked2019 #socialmediafocus!
It was definitely not the book I was expecting. It took me about half way to really get into it. It was pretty predictable. I pretty much figured out the ending out early on. But I wasn't disappointed actually. It fit. It wasn't the best book ever, but it wasn't bad. I liked it.
If it‘s cool enough out today this is what my day will consist of ☺️ coffee and reading on the balcony with my cats 🐱📚☕️
Just finished while enjoying some quiet time at the beach. Easy, quick read. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
This book was not what I was expecting. I‘ve heard mixed reviews so I was a little hesitant when I started it. However, I couldn‘t put it down. I wanted to keep reading to find out what happened. I really liked it and I look forward to more from the author.
I‘m not really sure how to feel about this book. The story wasn‘t terrible. It had me turning the pages but I feel a little disappointed in the ending. There was a lot going on and I feel like some of it wasn‘t needed.

Meh. Didn‘t live up to the hype. The author tried too hard, to no avail. Much of it was very predictable. A few surprises, but they were too far-fetched. It didn‘t manage to hold my interest, and I just couldn‘t care about what happened.
#BookNBrunch! Five-cheese egg sandwich on an oven-toasted roll, with blueberry lemonade. Mmmmmm. 😋 Happy reads & happy eats!
Starting this one today! Hoping it can get my reading groove back.
The writing was a little too much for me at times - way too many metaphors and similes. The main character did a lot of stupid things that drove me crazy.
I‘m on my yearly funk over having to go back to school tomorrow, and a thriller seems to be a good way to lift my spirits!
Abby returns to her small town home with a group of fellow environmental lawyers to investigate complaints against a local plastics plant which is also a major employer. This is a solid debut, but has some story holes and a self-destructive main character how can be judgmental in a way that really turned me off. I think Ritter can write but needs more seasoning.
