Call Traveller, and you will get home safely. Traveller is the story of the American Civil war as seen through the eyes of Traveller, famous horse of the great Confederate General Robert E. Lee. Now old and in retirement in the stable of his master, the beautiful iron-grey Traveller relates the story of his life to the stable cat Tom. Travellers understanding, feelings and impressions about events and people sometimes miss the mark, but his loyalty to the South, courage in battle, utter devotion to his master, and his faithful service through the horrors of what has been called the first Industrial war, shine through. His horse nature and his honest simplicity, as revealed in his tale, contrast with the horrors, cruelty and complications of war in this poignant and moving animal story. As in Watership Down, the book with rabbits as heroes, Adams enters imaginatively into the mind and heart of an animal to tell a story with messages about humankind that are not always flattering to the higher species.

Interesting presentation at the senior center today about animals in the Civil War. (Spoiler alert: no elephants were involved.) Here‘s the same presentation a few months ago at a different venue. https://youtu.be/lPijg-c0lvI?si=T0M1yIxG0ZxizbfK

1. I can‘t think of one specific one- probably anything about England or Ireland.
2. Ireland, Nova Scotia & New Orleans
3. Viet Nam or anywhere in The UK
4. Drive, so our greyhound can tag along. 😊
5. Gelato

This looks like a lot of fun, so I want to jump in 😀
1. I don't think a specific book has made me want to travel, but I can read about places in books that I afterwards want to visit
2. Paris
3. Rome and London
4. I usually fly, but don't mind driving
5. I didn't know that there was a difference. Both

1. I‘m not sure if reading about Paris makes me want to travel or if wanting to travel makes me read about Paris.
2. Weird, but Washington DC. The museums were fantastic, especially with my kids. And that library! Amazing.
3. So many. England, Scotland, Ireland are on top of the list though.
4. Fly. The faster the better.
5. I‘m allergic to whey. Can I get some sorbet?

#ManicMonday @JoScho

TheKidUpstairs I feel the exact same way about Paris! It's a total chicken and egg situation! 7y

🌍 How To Stop Time, and kind of anything. I want to go everywhere!
🌎 Possibly Bruges 😍 (so far)
🌏 Dream vacation would be a tour of Europe. Is that cheating? I don‘t care 😂
🌏 I‘ll say fly as I‘m british and can‘t deal with the other side of the road 🙈
🌎 Yes.

This was fun! Thanks @JoScho. I need to book a holiday now 😂

1. I'm sure there was something but nothing is coming to mind at the moment
2. Hm…New Orleans or LA maybe. Of course I'm in love with Disney and will never say no to WDW or Disneyland
3. Europe probably - Ireland, England, Germany to name a few
4. Both? Flying takes less time but you see more when you drive
5. Ice cream probably but I won't say no to gelato

#manicmonday
@JoScho

Bostonmomx2 I hope to get to New Orleans someday. I‘ve never really been to the South at all and would love to spend some time down there during the non-muggy season. 7y
TheDaysGoBy @Bostonmomx2 A friend and I went down in April and we were in shorts. Not something I'm used to up in the north lol. Couple days of rain too but it was fun for sure. The city has a great vibe 7y
JoScho Disney is my favorite and I wish I could go every year. Also really enjoyed New Orleans. 7y

So my #Passportlitsy accidentally was sent to my spam folder ? dang gmail! But finally I have it and looking for books. So far the hardest is Saint Barthélemy aka St. Barts where people go to vacation.
Any suggestion is welcome!

WarpedSweetness I had St Barts also. I couldn't find anything. :-/ 7y
Ash.on.the.line @WarpedSweetness oh man! Maybe I'll have to ask for a new location. /: 7y
WarpedSweetness @Ash.on.the.line I asked for a new country because I could not find anything. The new counties I got were eadier. 7y
See All 13 Comments
WarpedSweetness I have Comoros too and found something very easily. 7y
Lindy I haven't read them, but Emme Cross has a series set on St Barts. 7y
Lindy Are you looking for something by an author from St Bart? 7y
Ash.on.the.line @Lindy I would prefer an author from St. Barts 7y
Ash.on.the.line @Lindy I saw the emme cross one as well but could not find a copy from anywhere. 7y
Ash.on.the.line @WarpedSweetness yeah Comoros was an easy find. I did use the Goodreads group to help find some. 7y
WarpedSweetness @Ash.on.the.line I used the Goodreads group to find some also, and Google. I came across the same book that @Lindy mentioned, but it didn't strike my fancy. 7y
batsy I'm looking for local authors for St. Barts too. Can't find any. Seem to be a lot of non-locals writing about it as a vacation spot. There seem to be either family drama slash light romances or mysteries. I prefer the latter. So I might just go with this one but I'm not thrilled with my choice 😬 7y
Ash.on.the.line It seems that way @batsy I'll look at the tagged book. Maybe it will be my pick too. 7y

My #PassportLitsy #Itinerary
Looking forward to this challenge next year :)

Libby1 Lots of Ireland options, @Bookworm54 ! 7y
Bookworm54 @Libby1 potentially too many! How do I narrow it down? 😂 7y
drokka By interest or genre perhaps? 7y
See All 10 Comments
Bookworm54 @drokka I‘m starting by listing any I find that I like the sound of. I figured it‘s as good a place as any to start! 7y
Libby1 @Bookworm54 - if you want something contemporary I'd go with The Spinning Heart. 7y
Libby1 If you'd like a lighter mystery try Holding. 7y
Libby1 If you'd like something about the conflict in Northern Ireland try The Truth Commissioner. 7y
Libby1 And if you want a gritty, present day crime story set in Dublin try Little Bones. 7y
Libby1 I live in #NorthernIreland and read a lot of Irish fiction so sorry if I've overwhelmed your comments! 7y
Bookworm54 @Libby1 don‘t be sorry! They all sound great! I‘m leaning towards The Truth Commissioner or The Spinning Heart for the challenge, just because they seem to be more about Ireland as opposed to just being set in it. But they have all ended up on my TBR 🤗 7y

I may not be as active this coming week. I am going on a work trip to become a "better manager".
I'm hitting the skies today and won't be back until Friday evening.
Don't worry, I packed a book, a backup book, 5 magazines, and a phone loaded with audiobooks. I'm prepared.
Oh, yeah, I brought my work too...?

TrishB Hope it goes well 👍 7y

Traveller, General Lee's horse, relates the history of the US Civil War as he narrates his life story to Tom, the barn cat.

StephanieMarie I'm curious. Can Canadians join 🇨🇦 7y
Whatannareads Thank you for the interest! 7y
Whatannareads So the it was started by a YouTube (one book one review I think). 7y
Whatannareads The idea is you read a book and make notes init with sticky notes or whatever. 7y
Whatannareads Then you post on here to say it's read and the first person to comment shows interest in it you send that book with you notes in to them. They repeat the posted by posting on here and again send to next person. The idea is that it goes around a specified number of people each on adding there notes, to it. 7y
Whatannareads Once the book has been around that number of people say 12.. the last person returns it to the original owner. 7y
MrBook How interesting. I like that concept. 7y
TrishB Just US? 7y
Captivatedbybooks Oooo im interested 7y
kellock Sounds interesting! 7y
DarcysMom That sounds really fun! 7y
Itchyfeetreader This sounds great I am a "late adopter" to joining a real life book club and am loving how much more I have got out of the books we read so fat. This feels like a cool evolution of that 7y
Whatannareads Well I am from the UK so ideally would like it to be international to an extent. That doesn't mean that every person the book was sent to would have to be in a different country to you. X 7y
mcipher What a great idea!! Like 7y
teebe Love that idea. I've seen it done with one of the Harry Potter books but they wrote directly in it instead of using sticky notes. 7y
Leelee.reads Fun idea! 7y
Whatannareads Ok I haven't quite worked out the logistics of it all yet. However for one book to get round us all would take years, plus only one person would get a their book back. 7y
Whatannareads I was think if i had people assigned to different genres i.e. Fantasy, romance, distopian, thriller, for example and they could start off the travelling book with their chosen genre? X x 7y
sara.the.librarian I love this idea! I want in, let's make this a reality! 7y
Whatannareads Ok ok ok 🙈😂.. let me get the tonight's readathon done ✅ and I will get planning is that ok x X x 7y
StephanieMarie Sounds great, I'm interested! Although I would like to point out that writing in books makes me very uncomfortable so I'd prefer the sticky notes version 😊 7y
Laura317 Sounds great! I'd like to do this, too! 7y
minkyb Intrigued! 7y
LibrarianRyan I'm in. Can I do YA fantasy? Or Fantasy sci/fi? 7y
Redjewel_7734 Count me in! 7y
Bookishlie Count me in too! 7y
NerdyBookMom Sounds like an amazing idea! I'm definitely in :) 7y
clutteredbooks Sounds like a great idea! We did something like this over at Goodreads but with bookmarks and it took us almost a year before it finished its rounds. 7y
ScorpioBookDreams @DeborahSmall did you see this? Xx 7y
ScorpioBookDreams Count me in, if you need more people. I'm in the UK. 💕 7y
DeborahSmall @ScorpioBookDreams sounds good. I'm in the UK too👍🏼 7y
Whatannareads Ok everyone I will get this thing up and running. I'll be looking for people to represent different genres and be responsible for starting that traveling book. That way more of us can be involved at one time 😍 as generally only 12 people sign up and you have a month to read it and sent it on x 7y
