Tom Gauld‘s picture book is one that‘s destined to be a future classic. Charming, intelligent, full of wit, whimsy and warmth there‘s plenty of jokes in there for both young and older readers (in my view, probably better for youngsters aged 5+). There‘s plenty of potential here for a sequel, which I would definitely want to check out.

I'm enjoying the Captain Alatriste historical adventure series, set in 17th century Spain. This 2nd book deals with the Spanish Inquisition's persecution of those with Jewish blood -- some serious themes mixed in with swashbuckling fun.

I'd read this for May's #FoodandLit challenge. My husband and I visited Barcelona last fall and loved the offerings at the pincho bars, so I included a couple of photos here. @Catsandbooks @Texreader

Pleased to pick this up in my little local bookstore today. Humphrey‘s is very inspiring and encouraging of everyone to get outside and enjoy nature. As a response to climate issues and national honey pot sites being over visited his new ideas are about taking one map - where you live - and exploring it grid by grid.

Deifio Great idea! 11mo
Chrissyreadit is it specific to your area or more about strategies and encouragement or something else all together? 11mo

As I said about the first book, I cannot say enough about this series. Amazing story for all ages and great for a family to read together. This is by far the darkest plot of all 5 books and even made me scared of the villain at times but not is a way that would cause nightmares for children. This book teaches the importance of good vs. evil and how doing what is right and protecting those we love sometimes requires self sacrifice. #52challeng

I decided to read this historical fiction novel set in 1623 Madrid while I was visiting the city on my recent vacation. The photos are all from the Royal Palace.

I really enjoyed this fast-paced adventure story, filled with interesting historical details and likable characters, and I've put the next book in the series on my TBR.

A super cute fantasy picture book with engaging page layouts and lots to discover. The story is fairly standard, but I think kids will remember the illustrations and comic-like layout. #PictureBook #Fantasy #Family
