1. I‘m getting lost working jigsaw puzzles.
2. I went through all my reviews of the last year and this was one of my only picks that didn‘t include murder, missing children or dysfunctional families!

It‘s a quietish day here at work, so I‘m indulging in some witchy (and spicy! 🥵) escapism thanks to a recommendation from a friend. I‘m kind of obsessed. 🤷🏻♀️ #kingdomofthecursed #kerrimaniscalco #witches #family #sevendeadlysins #housewrath
This book was initially published in 1989 but has some revisions from 2008. The discussions of gender strategies and the “myths” we create in our own homes to make the family work (or not) is rocking my world.
What myths have I created to justify how my family functions? Are they serving me and the rest of my family or should I rephrase my reality to better serve us all?
1️⃣ Listen to music, walks by the sea around my house
2️⃣ I loved the audiobook for this one. Meryl Streep‘s narration just made me happy.

Sometimes there are some kids book that really can make you cry. This is one of them. A normal kid who is going through a tough time when his grandmother gives him a teddy bear where he can tell him everything and when his mother insists he is too old for the bear, he decides he is not. I love that this book went in a different direction than I expected after the first few pages. What I thought was going to be a legal drama ended up being about the lives surrounding the death of a teenager at the hands of his sister. Their parents and her lawyers have history and secrets that get brought to the forefront after years of avoidance. Guilt, blame, forgiveness and characters I would never befriend but a story I could look away from.
#@carolshieldsprize This was a fast read for me. It was well written, but I did not think the novel was special. 3 🌟 I am surprised it is on the long list.
Not my favorite of hers, but Patchett is always reliably good. The audiobook was well done. A story of two families broken by divorce and the ways they get stitched back together. The 6 children, the products of poor parenting, manage to create a bond in the midst of their parents‘ dysfunction.
Shenanigan is on the hunt for a gang of art thieves. The search takes her to France, and the hotel owned by the French branch of the Family, the Martinets. Full of great characters with even better names, chaos and murder abound. While it is easy to give this a surface read (and completely acceptable!), it also offers a chance to deep dive into lessons on processing big emotions, reparations, legacy, and greed among others. I adore this series.
