Robotswithpersonality

An amusing bit of strange. Part way seems to want to point out how we take for granted treating 'man's best friend' a particular way, in the certain belief that they enjoy it, and part way a standard tale of alien experiencing what we see as familiar, and part way a commentary on the revelations available when we interact with a new being and recognize when we're expecting them to react as others have (especially those who look similar) 1/?

Robotswithpersonality 2/2 in previous interactions, and should leave room for different beings acting uniquely, with a smattering of heart-warming awkward 'making new friends'. I think there's a tried and tested message or two in here, though the premise of green alien seemingly of canine -like persuasion is a new one for me.
Gotta wonder how much of that whole dog park situation was a bit uncanny valley/existential horror at first for the Dalmartian....🫤

Two Wheels | David Gibb

4 ⭐ This book is exactly as the title explains. It‘s about a little kid going from being the passenger in a baby seat to having their own two wheels. This book is lovely. You don‘t see kids riding bikes around neighborhoods anymore, like they used to once upon a time. To see a love for bicycles and the need to get out and ride one is lovely. The illustrations bring back the nostalgia of being a child riding their first two wheel bike.

3 ⭐ This book is long. It is about a grandpa bear and a cub. The cub sees the postcard that‘s always been on his grandfather ‘s fridge and ask him about it. And they decide they are going to train and get ready to go to Faraway Valley. Once they finally find faraway valley, grandpa decides to stay because the place is beautiful and he wants to help take care of it. This book is overly long for no reason.

3 ⭐ A ghost loves being in the meadow, making friends collecting flowers, etc. Their dream job is to take over the haunting of a very important castle. Upon landing their dream job they do it and they love it until they realize that they‘re losing part of themselves. They need to go back to the meadow. I understand the allegory of this book. That sometimes what you dream of doing is not actually right for you. But I‘m not sure if it‘s the phrasing

LibrarianRyan or if it‘s the way it‘s written. This book makes it seem like Wolfgang went back to the meadow, but took some of the haunting stuff with them When I think a better message might have been to be able to do a little bit of both. I‘m not sure I do like the art. I‘m just not the biggest fan of the story. 3w

2⭐This is about an introverted little girl who doesn‘t want to make friends or be around other people. She gets a new dog that must be taken outside and she slowly gets used to people and eventually makes her own friend. I understand this story and maybe because we‘re going through this with my niece I don‘t like this story. Mainly because we already have dogs and that doesn‘t help. The story is fine. Illustrations are nice. It‘s just not my thing

4 ⭐This book is a little long, but it really works. There are pages with the stories told entirely by illustrations and other where it‘s a little wordy. But altogether it works well for an interesting, fun, and a bit crazy story that I know I want to read again so kids are gonna wanna read it again. The illustrations are Masterful. They bring terror but life and help the story live on after the words have stopped.

Who Flung Dung? | Ben Redlich

3 ⭐ A monkey has poop land on their head and goes about the Savannah asking their animals who flung dung. Most of this book is that line repeated. And while I do see kids liking this book and having fun, this book has already been done and done better. The book “The Mole Who Went In Search of a Who Done It” also sometimes called “Who Pooped on my Head” is this story by an Indie author and an indie publisher is way better done than this one.

Cone Cat | Sarah Howden

4 ⭐ Jeremy, the cat has gotten his first cone. An animal cone is something that keeps them from biting, scratching, and licking themselves after medical appointments. It‘s like a cast on a human. At first, Jeremy doesn‘t like their cone and derides that they‘ll never be the same again. Until they find some good features of their cone and then realize that there are advantages. This book was fun.
