Dead Man's Chest
Dead Man's Chest: A Phryne Fisher Mystery | Kerry Greenwood
17 posts | 18 read | 12 to read
Phryne Fisher needs a rest. Its summer. She packs up her family and moves to Queenscliff, a quiet watering place on the coast. Where she meets with smugglers, pirate treasure and some very interesting surrealists, including a parrot called Pussykins. What is the mysterious Madame Selavey hiding? Where are the Johnsons, who were supposed to be in the holiday house?

This is my absolute favorite book in the Phryne Fisher series and listening to it on audiobook was awesome. I sped through this in a day while putting a huge puzzle together.

Imo, this is the epitome of a cozy mystery. The secondary characters are all wonderful and it gives me a warm, cozy feeling, like spending the evening with friends. 5⭐️

Phryne ordered some champagne in my audiobook when I was on the way home and it made me #Crave something fizzy, so I stopped off at the supermarket on the way home.

Bk18 of the Phryne Fisher series is done! Only 2 more books to go🥺This is one of my Top3 in the series, along with Murder In Montparnasse & Urn Burial. ‘Phryne & company descend on the seaside town of Queenscliff for a summer holiday after being loaned a seafront house by a friend. But when they arrive, the servants are missing along with their furniture & all the food. And Dot was hoping for a quiet peaceful few weeks!‘ #phryneappreciationclub

JazzFeathers I'm going to read this very soon. Happy to hear it's a good one. 6y

✔ Phryne #18 this morning. Almost thru Lost for Words for #booksandbrews on Sat. 🤞 Audio of DOA before Sun Premiere of Outlander. Then I begin my audio adventure thru Tolkien. Lord of Shadows will be a skim thru to get ready for Queen of Darkness on Dec 4. Nov is good month for books on food and The Great War. And then there is Poldark I'm determined to finish series this year. Takes up way to much shelf space. 📚
#tbr #nov #readmyshelves

Crinoline_Laphroaig Phryne takes her girls on vacation. She saves the day her wits, pistol, Champagne and with Dot wielding a coal scuttle. 🍾 6y
Libby1 Go Poldark! You can do it! I will be interested to hear what you think of this one. 6y

Avanders Thanks for the tag! 😘😘 Also what book is Phryne from? (edited) 7y
JenlovesJT47 @Avanders Phryne is from the Phryne Fisher series by Kerry Greenwood! There are currently 20 books in the series. It's my fave. She is a badass Australian lady detective in the 1920s. Would highly recommend the books, and the show is also amazing! Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries on Netflix. ☺️💚 7y

Day 19 - #setinthe1920s - this is my absolute favorite time period to read about. There's just something about it. The Phryne Fisher books are definitely my favorite series (ever!) from this time period. Dead Man's Chest is one of my favorites. #24in48 #readathon I've switched to No18 in the Phryne Fisher series, taken some painkillers and am feeling much better. Will get a few more hours in before coming down the home stretch later today. I'm following the official hours so I've still got plenty of time! Wish me luck! And Good Luck to everyone else participating!

EllanaRose I have a few series to read but you have firmly put Phryne on my TBR. Keep going, you got this! 8y

Today's #BookMail is the last books in the Phryne Fisher series by Kerry Greenwood. Once I get the first 3 books (I only have them on audio) I'll have the whole series so far. Plus the next Flavia & what's supposed to be the best biography of Queen Elizabeth II. #HappyNewBook

Reviewsbylola Elizabeth should be interesting! 8y
Zelma I listened to Elizabeth the Queen on audio and really liked it. Very detailed (obviously due to its length) but so interesting and covering so many world events. She is a fascinating person and public figure. 8y

I decided a nice, light mystery would be my next read - I've dived in and have enjoyed the first 20 pages

Lynnsoprano I'm a recent Phryne Fisher convert. Love these books 😊 8y
Lizpixie This is like, book 18 in the series! You really should go back to the beginning, otherwise you'll miss a lot of the reasons and explanations of people and things she does. This is the first book. 8y
StaceyKondla Thank you @Lizpixie - I've been enjoying it anyways. If I stumble upon some more in the series I'll snag them - this one is light and delightful so far 😊 8y
StaceyKondla @Lynnsoprano I think I am also now among the converted 😉 8y
