1) I always wanted a name people know how to spell. Like Jane. Easy Peasy.
2) My first pet a dog named Frisco I was 5 and named him after my favorite General Hospital soap opera character 🤣
3) I always loved the name Phryne Fisher from Miss Fishers Murder mystery
Pretty sure I found these on a midsummer night. It‘s started to get 🥶 like it does every yr after the Writer‘s Festival & every yr I hate it! I ❤️ the mags at the bottom of the pile. They‘re from the Art Gallery of NSW & my State Library. I collect the tagged 📕 series. The covers are so pretty. I‘m a big fan of Inga Simpson & got to meet her at the SWF. She isn‘t as serious as she seems on stage. We spoke about her new book set where I grew up.
I‘ve loved the Phryne Fisher series, and have now read all 23 books in the series. This one isn‘t the best, it feels like the author, being aware of the limited time she had left, wanted to ensure that the series cameto and end with no loose ends - Greenwood passed away in March this year.

Not the best in the series, but still an enjoyable “cosy” read. Phryne is such a wonderful character.

This was awful. It's supposed to be a mystery, but I kept forgetting what Phryne was supposed to investigate. It's all muddled in non stop descriptions of her clothes, sex (without any eroticism) and comments of people admiring her? I'm surprised it has so many books in the series and even made it to the tv. I wonder if the whole book is just an introduction to the character and then the series improves...but let's be honest, I'll never find out⬇️
Holy cozies Batman!
I‘ve been in a cozy mood lately! Went to local bookstore to get that stack, and the rest were mostly ThriftBooks… and one maaaaaayy be my selection for #cbbc #coffeebeanbookclub 🤩☕️📚📖🫘🤎 (so excited)
A colonel and his wife ask Phryne to check on their daughter, who they worry is being poisoned by her husband. Phryne travels to Australia and finds herself investigating not only the situation with the colonel's daughter, but other crimes as well, including a drug ring involving a Russian ballet family.
Phryne sets out to solve a disappearance and a murder and in the process takes her plane out to the mountains in Australia (near Talbotville). I enjoy the series mainly because of the historical setting e.g. the Green Mill was an actual dance hall in Melbourne.
