#PoetryMatters Day 26: #Symptom
I love the change in tone of this poem in the last stanza. You‘re killed into expecting a typical love poem, and then bam! A rose? Is that all? 😂
#Perfect #PoetryMatters @TheSpineView
I both read and listened. The narrator added much with her delightful accents and tone. The poems that would‘ve given me a challenge were better listened to. Parker‘s wit was wonderful. I believe I could pick her poem or short story out of a group which while enjoyable at first became a tad predictable and not as fresh and enjoyable as it would‘ve been in smaller doses.
1. Tried a new vegetable. It looks to me like something from a sci-fi movie.
2. No, party of one
3. Finding a job 🙏🏼
4. iPad cover and remote
5. Entertaining. I just might enjoy short stories after all. 👍

Okay, I only THOUGHT I didn‘t like short stories but after some enjoyable ones I‘m coming around to them. Now understand that I do not, I repeat, I do not like poetry. THIS will never change. 😏
When contemporary fiction writers decide, apparently en mass, to include plot devices that are not even remotely logical....I decide to turn to nonfiction by some sassy women! This is part of a Dorothy Parker book review.
Went to see the Portable Dorothy Parker, a one woman play set in 1942 while Mrs. Parker‘s husband is deployed oversees. It was amazing. They managed to work in many of her poems, stories, Personal anecdotes, and of course brilliant one line witticisms seamlessly. Absolutely loved it!
Trying to think a bit differently for today‘s photo. I have no books about #writing, so I chose books with cover art that looks hand written . I might be completely off, but it gives me an excuse to show off my Dorothy Parker💖 #riotgrams @bookriot
I ❤️ this lady
Dorothy Parker was famously witty, and this collection of her writing is a great proof of that. Her dry (oh, so dry) humour pours over her short stories and poems, showing her critical view of society and a cynical perspective on human relations. Her wit exposes human weaknesses and mocks them mercilessly, which is fun to read. There‘s a reason she‘s one of my favorite writers ever.

A poet, short story writer, critic and a debonair with sharp and sardonic wit.

This is my #BookYouFinallyReadThisYear for 2017. Her stories and reviews from the 1920s and 1930s are fabulous, pointed, and sometimes snarky! I recommend this book to all! 💜⛄️❄️
Her quick wit and brutally funny quotes are aplenty. This one is about if your man is declaring his #infinite and undying passion for you..

A family friend gave this to me for my twenty-second birthday, and I fell in love with without a doubt, the best and brightest member of the Algonquin Round Table.
A naughty riddle, courtesy of Dorothy Parker.

Another #bookishtravel memory from last weekend: my mom Dorothy finally got to see Dorothy Parker's Round Table in the Algonquin Hotel.
Books 3 and 4 of my vacation week. I ordered The Dorothy Parker after listening to #gwenglazer from #thelibrarianisin podcast discuss it. I'm two stories in and loving it. Going to balance the stories with some good ol western. My 🐶 dog ate my licorice tho!!
This is a great "bar read" when my friends are running late!
This has been on my TBR for so long! Finally getting around to it!!!
Can you imagine being a literary critic while Barrie, Shaw, Lewis, Hemingway, Sinclair, Hammett, and Dreiser were alive and writing?! Parker was a great author as well. Explore her writings and reviews in this wonderful collection!
🤔
This book makes me laugh, catch my breath and adore its author. Sorry I was so late to the Parker party.
Part of Dorothy Parker's 1931 New Yorker review of Barrie's play 'The Admiral Crichton'. The short stories are good but the reviews are a hoot!

Finally starting this book. Thank you, random number generator! #501
I'm copying @EvieBee84 - because after scouring all of my shelves I only have this to show for #shadows (though I have quite a few for reflections - if that ever come up in a future challenge @RealLifeReading 😃) #feistyfeb
Today's challenge was a challenge! Finally found this book, otherwise I would have had to make do with a hand puppet #shadow on the wall. #feistyfeb #shadows
Happy Birthday, Dorothy Parker (b. August 22, 1893). The cartoon is from the inside flap of my copy, and the text is the entirety of "The Flaw in Paganism," from her 1939 poetry collection "Death and Taxes." #literarybirthdays
In honor of International Women's Day, three of my favorite authors. You can't go wrong with books from Austen, Parker or Montgomery!
