I‘ve met Simon Van Booy, Ann Patchett, Lisa Genova, and Barbara Claypole White for book signings (plus a few I don‘t recall! Sadly.)
I have also had a delightful twitter exchange with David Mitchell. I suppose I could have tagged one of his books. The last one I read was the Thousand Autumns of Jacob deZoet.
Guess what I just did! Bought the hot book at the hottest bookstore west of the Mississippi.
An enjoyable mystery with likable cast of characters, especially our favorite homicide detective CHIEF Inspector Gamache. However, I went too long between this and the prior book. I don‘t recall enough of what happened. Not quite a standalone book. But… PIE! Great scene with lemon meringue pie 😋

Starting this as my expendable travel read - I intend on leaving it on the plane or in the hotel. 🤷🏻♀️ Found on my shelves, unknown when originally acquired, it fits a reading challenge I do every year: #WiaN #WhatsinaName #WiaN2024 category NFL Team (the subtitle features CHIEF Inspector Gamache! 🏈
Like EVERYONE it seems, this year, in anticipation of reading Percival Everett‘s JAMES, I am putting myself through a prequel project: refreshing my memory of what happens in Twain‘s Huck Finn. (It‘s free right now if you have an Audible membership.)
TBH, I really am unsure if I‘ve actually read any Twain 🤔 I have visited Hannibal Missouri and I have visited Twain‘s house in Hartford Connecticut… but?!

I have met this author - he‘s terrific! I have pre-ordered this; pubs on May 7. OH - and look! 👀 Ann Patchett endorses 🥰

Thank you so much @wanderinglynn ❤️ Email has been sent. I just might have a drawing to give it ON after I read it; twould be a Litsy-Giveathon-Trail! Yes, be watching this space (BkClubCare 🌎) for info as it all unfurls…😆
“Gods around” - I kind of like this expression… Has anyone adopted this phrase and what did it replace?
(And yes, we have TOO MUCH STUFF. 😤)
Ack! All my eBook holds are coming available AT the SAME TIME!! Make it stop 🛑 😆😜🤪🤨
I resisted this for some stupid reason, I was recommended to read this by a dear friend and I told her I would think about it. Instead, I inquired with Libby as to availability. In fact, I felt rather guilty that I displayed such a lack of enthusiasm to my friend that I immediately requested eBook and/or audio.
The audio is fantastic! I enjoyed this so much!! I laughed, I cried, I wanted to hug all the characters 🤣

Help? Those of you who work with college students and new hires, who work in career development, and those who love learning… I have been charged with creating and delivering a 15 min program for college students on how to enhance “career-ready skills” — SOFT SKILLS! I can do this, I am confident in my ability to facilitate such, but need to pick a topic FAST. Suggestions? 🧐😬😃

A truly fascinating read. Dystopia? SciFi? And yet, an almost religious — how about religion-adjacent, thoughtful, and provoking story. Having read just a few glimpses of tidbits about this book that I somehow missed ever hearing about, that it was a set of shorter stories that the author linked to create one novel. That it was basically his last book, is that right? And. And,…. That the author died by suicide. Why is that relevant?! I cannot ⬇️
I have always wanted to use this diagram to share my reading; apologizes to source creator of the art since I failed to note where this originates. Please tag yourself! Thank you 🙏
March 2024 best read = Mean Spirit / Linda Hogan, Book #26 2024. (#ReadICT : indigenous author)
February = Blackouts / Justin Torres, Book #11 - winner ToB XX
January = Clare Pooley's The Authenticity Project, Book #5. (Also #ReadICT : lost/found category)
Flying back to KS via stop in TX from MS. Starting this on the plane home.
Just some of the bookcases full of books at my friend Nancy‘s house. I made my hosts a pie in a Zingerman‘s pie plate.
Mean Spirit is better!! Or maybe, I can suggest that if you liked/appreciated Grann‘s NF book: Killers of the Flower Moon, you must please seek out Mean Spirit to get a fabulously told story with heart & grit with the Indigenous Peoples perspective.
(In further study, FYI, Hogan was a finalist for a Pulitzer Prize with Mean Spirit.)

“When I was 10 years old, I wrote a letter to my future self and buried it in my backyard.”
Am on a trip to Mississippi to visit one of my bestest book friends (who is being subjected to and resisting so far my attempts to get her to join Litsy)
This book was on her Ah-MAZING bookshelves (everywhere a book shelf!!!)

Current audiobook, for book club. Amazing that Libby had a copy available- the eBook and print copies all have over 10 holds.
I am already questioning some of the premise even as the narrative attempts to explain/excuse it. And the hypocrisy of the “mother” is rage-inducing.
“… managed to escape… [ ], lived with a group of rebels loosely affiliated with the Home Army in the forests of Warsaw.”
I practically DNF‘d this WW2 novel that I didn‘t finish by book club discussion so now I know most of the pieces. But HOW ODD in coinky-dink land that my next random book, *Dear Fang, With Love*, references a grandma from Poland!
Always makes me go 🤔

I have gotten away from posting my readings 😢 Let‘s get back to it.
Updated later: found it confusing, but I am glad to have read it. It was a MUCH quicker read than I expected!!!!
This is such a crazy idea! I love nonfiction- especially narrative nonfic; my most memorable entry to reading something “true” for FUN? Let me introduce you to Tracy Kidder. #TLT #ThreeListThursday #NonFiction
1. Tagged book. Inspired me to read all of Kidder‘s books (I haven‘t 🫤) but Mountains Beyond Mountains is another of his extremely inspirational reads.
2. Born a Crime by Trevor Noah - LISTEN 🎧 to this!!!!
3. See comments . . . 👇
Lots of pie references (a mention of Thanksgiving will usually always have a pie mention.)
“Later, Amanda would remember this as one of the moments when she fell a little out of love with him. Also when he ate the last piece of pumpkin pie for Sunday breakfast.”

Wow - this is so good. Devastatingly sad, super-intriguing on the ghosts part!
Well, THIS has to be the shortest fastest ToB read I have ever experienced! I wish I would have known it would only take me one sitting; I would have devoured it at a bookshop and returned it to the shelf. LOL maybe not… #ToB24 #novella #LibraryBook [Book 15 of 2024] ⛰️🦁

1️⃣ Fave Female Character: Olive Kitteridge by Elizabeth Strout. Because: a letter received today from a friend thanked me for sending her a copy - I knew she would appreciate ❤️ OK is rough at the edges with a heart of gold.

Bleak. One bad decision and consequence after another. Too too long; I suffered through, though, to the bitter ambiguous WTH ending. Listened at 2x speed. People seem to think it brilliant literature but I want a refund. #ToB2024 Book 5 of the year.
