This was a tough one. George was so annoying and so I give credit to the author for capturing it, terrific pacing, always up to the edge. “Oh George, I am worried about you.” “George, you need therapy.” Clueless and yet self-pitying. What a rough ride this was! OMG. I am so glad it is over but afraid I might be thinking of George for a long time. #Jan2025 Book11 #ToB

BarbaraBB Fantastic review. I wasn‘t really planning to read this book but now you make me leaning towards doing so again 2d
BkClubCare @BarbaraBB - Thank you? You‘re welcome? I read an interesting review/opinion that Greathead has captured the Millennial generation - is it collective or just one messy individual 🧐 2d
Chelsea.Poole Great review! 2d

sarahbarnes Ugh - I haven‘t been interested in reading this one and you‘re not making me feel any differently. 😆 2d
BkClubCare @sarahbarnes 🤣 No worries! I won‘t mind at all if you end up skipping this. 5h

Another 5 ⭐️ read with a lady MC of the octogenarian set. A love letter to NYC in some sense, a trip through the history of advertising, and to some extent poetry, this was a wonderful read. Full of new-to-me words, with melancholy AND joviality, plus truth that strong women usually have had to walk through tough times. 💪 LOVED this. #Jan2025 Book10 #poetrymatters #HappyNewYear #WalkingisGoodForYou

Ruthiella I learned that word when I read 1w
BkClubCare @Ruthiella - Just read your gr review 😊 I am intrigued. I do recall it from a ToB long list? I do have it on my tbr. Now to try and use the word in conversation. 😆 7d
Ruthiella @BkClubCare It might have been a ToB inspired read? 🤔 So much of my new release reading comes from there! 7d

Loved it. Laugh out loud moments (or reactions.) I enjoyed it very much and it mentions pie! AND, I just discovered, there‘s a sequel. My kind of comfort read; found families and/or? cantankerous old ladies. #Jan2025 Book9

Aims42 Cantankerous old ladies have been my reading jam lately! Love them 🥰 (edited) 1w

Not being a MiddleGrade student, it‘s probably unfair of me to rate, so let‘s call it a low pick. Born a girl but uncomfortable with culture messages of what she *should* be interested in, Bug is also mourning her recently deceased Uncle (who might be haunting her!) I could identify with the confusion of being told “just be yourself!” But WHO is YOU when you don‘t know what you feel and are uncomfortable in your own skin? #BannedBook #Transgender

This was a book that absolutely did not grab my attention, I sensed an unreliable narrator who does things that make no sense; I went into it thinking it might be a devastating immigrant story, but once I put it down and then a few days go by, and then when I do open it back up with low motivation and hit a snag (drawn curtains are closed! Not open), WHAT DO I Do? I find many of my friends loved it. #sigh A case of “it‘s me, not the book.”

Starting now; fits category Graphic Novel of #ReadICT though I am fudging the requirement a tad. (It specifically says to be a GN adaption of a fiction book or memoir and this looks to be original/biography #ohwell) #CopperBopper #DogsofLitsy #Jan2025 Book7

When books meet reality: the MC meets and gets a hug from Peter Yarrow, who died today, January 7, 2025. May he rest in peace.

Another out-the-window snowy day backdrop! Here‘s to nowhere to go so I can stay in and read. LOVE that Elif Batuman has a blurb. Have already found a book #coinkydink to BeautyLand 🐇❄️
