October #bookspin 🤞🏻
Tagging my current read for my June #bookspin board. Since I plan to finish it within the next day or so, I put book 3 on the board. I‘m traveling to DC *all* 👏🏻 *by* 👏🏻 *my* 👏🏻 *self* in late June so I plan to read as many books as possible between my volunteer commitments while I‘m away.
It‘s eighty-two degrees on my enclosed glassed in porch, so I‘m sitting behind the curtains and enjoying some afternoon downtime in the warmth. I took my ten year old clothes shopping today so I think I deserve feet up, seltzer, and werewolf romance.
My trick for buckling down & reading books I‘m blasé about is to make sure that book is the only one I bring with me on a trip. I‘m in a hotel for two nights at a state conference so this was my approach to this #bookspin book that sounds great but for some reason I‘m on the fence about. I‘m 80 pages in and I‘m questioning whether I can stick with this title. ?
I‘m really excited for The Paper Caper and eager to get Woman of Light off my shelf — either by reading or DNF‘ing! #bookspin
I asked an AI image generator to create something that reflected how this book felt to me. This was the most confusing, most somewhat on target, and most perfectly valid response. I will be mailing the book to the next recipient tomorrow!
February #bookspin … so much great potential reading here, including some more #auldlangspine titles and a backlog from #TheBookDrop!
So far I‘ve finished 4 books in 2024, 2 audio & 2 physical! I just finished Legendborn last night for #lmpbc & OH BOY is it a rollercoaster! In a good way! Also, Baba Yaga for #auldlangspine — I loved it but sometimes felt like I didn‘t understand Baba, but I decided that was because she was not speaking to me at that moment. Maybe she‘d make better sense if the question was more relevant, so this is a good dip in and out over time book.
I feel like our lists were fated 🤩 Sistersong had already caught my eye; short stories like in Fit for the Gods seem good for dipping in and out of; and I had the same feeling about Baba Yaga. I feel like 2024 has to be the year in which I unfold my future self, so of course I have to figure out How to Be Perfect. Thank you @monalyisha for another amazing #auldlangspine matchup!
Guess what both showed up today! The good news is that it seems like @BeckyWithTheGoodBooks is okay! I had been worried! But now I need to figure out where Legendborn should go. Should I read it quickly - immediately - and send it to Becky, or should I send it on and then let it come back to me? Option 1 almost sounds more logical - take advantage while it is here. Then I will read Lavinia and send it to @BookmarkTavern . . . .
Today‘s current read is taking place at the car dealership for an oil change and tire rotation. Don‘t I lead an exciting life? And having finished Oath and Honor, I discovered Spotify also has Rachel Maddow‘s Prequel 🤩🎧
Pegging away at #bookspin. Discovered Cheney‘s book as an audiobook on Spotify 🙏 Haven‘t received my next #LMPBC read yet 😔 Busy week this week — just surviving until the weekend, and by next Monday the worst of the stress will have passed. Big event hanging over my head and lots of planning leading up to it. Going to be worth it though!
The GREAT news is that I am 60% of the way through the book, and I have only sat down with it two or maybe three times! I usually read while my youngest is at gymnastics, so about 45 minutes per reading session. The book moves forward very quickly.
Also, I looked at our addresses in the spreadsheet, these poor books are going to be packing on the miles! 😅 #lmpbc
We have one Arthurian …Legendborn….one Greek….Lore…..these both take place in the Cradle of Civilization. 🤔 What do you think? #LMPBC #G19
There are so many good looking retellings out there — I hope we can get a group together @BookmarkTavern ! #lmpbc
Cooler weather always puts me in the mood for #LMPBC, and right now I‘m in the mood to read some mythological retellings. Greek mythology leapt to mind first so I chose Group G, but a new vision of any myth will serve. Not a fairytale, a myth - think Circe, Ariadne, King Arthur, Angrboda, etc. Thanks to @suvata as always for keeping us inspired and organized!
I‘ve been on an Arthurian kick lately so opening Half Sick of Shadows first thing gave me literal chills! 🥶 A beautiful and joy-giving package, and I‘m so glad I participated I‘m going to post a separate photo of @AmyG ‘s clever book wrapping. Going to use the journal to record my daily tarot cards that I pull for my BFF and I.
#Bookspin … if I could finally land on one of these fantasy books from #TheBookDrop, that‘d be great 😂
Inspo board for #mws #modernwitchswap !! It took me a while to organize it. Morgan Le Fey - PSLs - wolfdogs- Persephone - cemetery art - altar to Nehallenia- chocolate pumpkin bake - my oldest & most fave tarot deck (Arthurian legend) - a cabin in the woods - potted lavender - Basic Witch
Listening to #AsYouWish, couldn‘t bring myself to finish Lily Bennett‘s Bucket List (life‘s too short for mediocre romance novels), and still accumulating a #bookspin #backlog
I‘m ready this time! Taking a blood thinner has done wonders for my brain fog. Holy moly. #bookspin
It took 2 months to finish the #audiobook of I Alone Can Fix It, but mostly because I couldn‘t listen to it with the kids in the car this summer because of the language. I remain convinced that Mark Milley saved our collective asses & will preorder any book he deigns to author. When Women Were Dragons was, regrettably, only so-so (spoilers in comments).
Came off Libby hold when I wasn‘t expecting it! I always end up loving magical realism, and the reviews are amazing, so I‘m looking forward to it! 🐉
Slight detour into a frothy Klondike romance before picking up anything else.
Finished Pandora‘s Jar … a belated #bookspin. Started the ebook of Local … another late bookspin choice. Close to the end of the audiobook I Alone … #thursday #bookreport
This window in Salem of a chocolate shop. 🍫 Finished North-Shore-centric WE RIDE UPON STICKS and wow, wow wow wow. Epic. Disorienting. Insightful. Glorious. Hilarious. Bittersweet. Never underestimate the power of teenage girls.
I‘m a little behind on #bookspin reads….but I‘m working my way through the backlog. Looking forward to Hester and The Traitor‘s Wife, this month‘s #bookspin and #doublespin reads!
Hello #bookspin friends, Now I know why my summer has passed by in a fog….I‘ve been carrying around a DVT in my leg and some pulmonary emboli in my lungs since late May or early June. Here‘s my August bookspin board and a picture of my 10 year old getting ready for live TV and my medication reminder. With meds I‘m feeling better - but still weak - already.
