Cooler weather always puts me in the mood for #LMPBC, and right now I‘m in the mood to read some mythological retellings. Greek mythology leapt to mind first so I chose Group G, but a new vision of any myth will serve. Not a fairytale, a myth - think Circe, Ariadne, King Arthur, Angrboda, etc. Thanks to @suvata as always for keeping us inspired and organized!

Bulk review updates time!

I started reading this in fall of 2021, but my library borrow expired before I finished and had to wait several months to get access again. I found the approach interesting (a feminist take on Joseph Campbell‘s hero mythology framework), but Tatar‘s criticism worked much better when applied to classical mythology and literature. It was much less effective when applied to modern texts (including television heroines).

My Christmas #bookhaul - my in-laws are really good about using a wishlist! I‘m filling out my Olympians collection (somehow I ended up with all the odd numbers😆) and can‘t wait to read the tagged (of course, I don‘t know when I‘ll actually get to it, so I WILL wait…but still…)

And my mom got me this bin. Years ago I told her if I ever opened a used book store this is what I‘d call it.

Recently started THE HEROINE WITH 1,001 FACES, and I‘m enjoying it a lot. I‘ve struggled in my reading this, especially in my audiobooks, so this has been a welcome change.

Preordered this one through my independent bookstore. Heard a great review of this one - an alternative to Joseph Campbell‘s work. Women throughout the ages, often without writing utensils or weapons, get the social justice work done.
