repost for @PuddleJumper:

January's author is Malinda Lo!

I've read and enjoyed some of her YA/retelling books. I enjoyed Huntress and Ash. Anyone else have any recommendations? Drop them below

I'm going to #QueerBC May-May so I'll refresh the author list then and I'll do some feedback stuff March/April to see how to improve it

Thank you to everyone who has participated. I hope you are enjoying yourself and discovered some new authors

rwmg I've seen so many good comments about Last Night at the Telegraph Club, I'm quite glad of an excuse to actually read it. 5d

This is easily my favorite book of this month. You sure know the feeling when you have to put your book down and do something dull like working, always longing to dive back into the story? This was this kind of book for me. Exactly what I needed and wanted.
So, where do I drop my vote for reading the next volume in the series with #queerbc ? 😉

@Puddlejumper

PuddleJumper 🤣🤣 Author suggestions are always open 1w
Jari-chan @PuddleJumper I so will suggest the author as soon as the next book is available 😁😁 1w

A group of friends decides that an abandoned haunted manor, full of the ghosts of women buried alive, is the perfect place for a wedding party. The house agrees.

I really wanted more out of this. At the end of every chapter, I felt like it needed to be twice as long. I needed more set up of the friends, more set up for the climax. The descriptions were visceral & unsettling, & would have been better suited for a more gradual horror.🌕🌕🌕🌑🌑

BookmarkTavern General warning for gore, violence, toxic friendships, and references to suicide attempts 1w
PuddleJumper I didn't get on with this one. I had a lot of potential for being something really unsettling but it fell short 1w
BookmarkTavern @PuddleJumper Right? I need to be able to sit with a haunted house story. I wanted the horror to creep up on me slowly, instead of going from 0 to 100 and then stopping short. It didn‘t help that I really didn‘t feel like I was supposed to care about any of the characters. 1w
PuddleJumper @BookmarkTavern The characters were awful! I don't know why they were friends or if they actually cared about one another 1w

I‘m not big into holiday themed books but this one was an absolute joy (😉) to read. Hex was a lovely pumpkin spice roll of a book boyfriend. Coal wasn‘t perfect and somehow that is what made this book lovely. He acknowledged his faults, tried to make amends, and never lost sight of what Christmas means to so many.

I have #wintergames points questions:
1. Can you count hours read for buddy reads, even if they aren't specifically readathons? Like the buddy read for #queerbc, for instance?
2. Do my #christmascheer and #poetrymatters posts count for points?

#xmaschacha

StayCurious You can totally count hours read for buddy reads! 10 points per hour read. Yes you can count your other posts for points as long as it‘s a holiday themed wintery post - thank you for sharing! (edited) 2w
lil1inblue @StayCurious Excellent. Thanks! 😍 2w

Printable bookmarks are next! There is another set that I'll post under the #QueerBC tag

I love bookmarks. I never use bookmarks because receipts, leaves, random bits of wool work really well ... All my pretty bookmarks stay in a drawer 😅

If you want better quality pictures email me at eommods@gmail.com and I'll send them. I'm getting them from a publicity pack
