willaful I was kind of caught in wondering why Esther seemed more upset about Buddy's hypocrisy than about what happened in this chapter. But maybe she's letting herself realize things slowly because they're so freaking awful. 1mo

Clare-Dragonfly Wow, Buddy is an idiot! He shakes her hand when she comes in, tries to give her an ashtray he made, and then asks her to marry him in the most unromantic way possible?! Not to mention the skiing failure. Esther said in the last chapter that she broke her own leg but Buddy clearly broke it! 😂 1mo

mcctrish What just happened? V admits to the debts he could never repay and that he isn‘t worthy of Emily AND is mad that she doesn‘t want to shackle herself to him?! Clare-Dragonfly V keeps going “I‘m terrible and it‘s exactly like the Count says” except no one actually lays out what Emily or V is thinking. I‘d put money on V‘s actual actions not being as bad as what Emily thinks. Of course, I don‘t know whether he‘ll actually TELL HER that before they both die of old age! 3mo
