This straight up spoke to me. Even out of context. Especially out of context. There is the logical, analytical, academic part of the brain… and then there is the fear, anxiety, panicky part of the brain. This book really did rise above the smut (but that part was awesome, too).

I was happily reading the second book of a series of smutty fluff I stumbled upon to help me get over my Onyx Storm hangover, I was met with what is quite possibly the most sex positive, philosophically profound thing I have ever read (in smut or otherwise). 🤯🤯🤯
#SierraSimone #Sinner #audiobook #bookhangover #sexpositive #bodypositive #profound #mindblown #beautiful

GingerAntics “To be fully human is to be fully sexual, and while that doesn‘t mean having sex or even sexual desire, it does mean being fully in your body. It means recognising that there‘s nothing any less holy about your body than there is about your soul. That as long as your body is treated with consent, and respect, and affection, and that you treat the bodies of others in the same way, 2w
GingerAntics there‘s nothing inherently sinful about your flesh, about its desires or lack of desires, about what it does or does not do. You do not have the ability to tarnish her or yourself. That right isn‘t given to any mortal person. She‘ll be no more or less holy for sex. The same goes for the lack of it.” 2w
MaGoose How true 👍 2w

BookmarkTavern Oh wow. 👏🏻👏🏻 2w
GingerAntics @MaGoose it was so wonderful to hear this from a former priest, who left to marry the woman he fell in love with, 3 years after taking his vows. 2w
GingerAntics @BookmarkTavern @MaGoose THIS should be the sex ed line found in every curriculum. Period. Full stop. End of story. How much more healthy would the world be if THIS was what everyone‘s understanding of sex was centred around? 2w
BookmarkTavern Exactly! And the additional fact that it is sex positive without being condescending or insulting to people who don‘t have sex. 2w
GingerAntics @BookmarkTavern EXACTLY!!! Like feminism that allows a woman to WANT to stay home and raise her children… because it is her choice… because it is the choice that matters. 2w
BookmarkTavern Yes! The choice and the opportunity are what‘s important. A single, career minded woman is no more or less valid than a married, stay at home mother as long as they are both doing what they want to! 2w
kspenmoll Yes! 2w
GingerAntics @kspenmoll since the whole series/trilogy are stand alone stories, I almost skipped this one. I am SO glad I didn‘t. I even cried at one point. Man that book was a rollercoaster! 2w

#TLT #ThreeListThursday @dabbe

I got so excited reading other people's scores, I forgot to post my own! 😂 My best score to date. I have a feeling that'll be true for all of us as we get closer to #1. 🤞
Faves:
1. DeeLite: “The Groove is in the Heart.“ I cannot NOT move when hearing this one.
2. U2: “With or Without You.“ Favorite on THE JOSHUA TREE ALBUM = college survival.
3. The Who: “My Generation.“ I love the stuttering! 😂

Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick I totally agree with you about Groove Is In the Heart. The song hits, and suddenly, I'm doing the hustle and a slow body roll. 🤣 7mo
dabbe @Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick And who is the guy at the end talking? I've never been able to figure that out. He sounds like Eddie Murphy, but I just don't know. 🤩😂🤗 7mo
bthegood OMG - the video for Groove is in the Heart - love this!! 🙂 7mo

peaKnit Agree on Dee-Lite, it requires dancing! 7mo
dabbe @peaKnit In the nerdiest (which, of course mean COOLEST) way possible! 🖤🕺🖤 7mo
Suet624 Oh boy! Deee-Lite! Yes indeed. So many of their songs get me up dancing. (edited) 7mo
dabbe @Suet624 How can you not, right? 🤩🕺🤩 7mo
Suet624 I saw the Who in 1969 (they sang the entire Tommy album) and then saw them again in 2019 at Fenway Park. The 2019 concert was phenomenal with a full orchestra behind them. Again, a lot of Tommy in the 2019 concert. I cried and shouted-sang through a lot of that concert. There are a lot of videos on YouTube of that Fenway concert if you‘re interested. Soooo good. 7mo
dabbe @Suet624 I am so jealous! To have seen them in 1969 = #mindblown. I did see TOMMY on Broadway in the early 90s, but that's it. I'll have to check out that concert at Fenway. Thanks for the rec. 🤗🤗🤗 7mo

Started this one after Kim Jiyoung. Had been debating getting a new therapist, but by the end of the intro I knew it was time! I downloaded the PDF of the questionnaires and wow talk about clarity! I don‘t know if any real healing has happened yet, but someone is ready for therapy now. Very clear how both my mother and grandmother expressed their emotional immaturity. Talk about an eye opener!

GingerAntics I mean, I knew they were both abusive in their own ways, but I always thought of my grandmother as the mature one… the adult in our house. Turns out, NOPE! Just as immature as her daughter. #LindsayCGibsonPsyD #AdultChildrenOfEmotionallyImmatureParents #audiobook #busbook #mindblown #newperspective #therapy #therapyhereicome #eyeopener 11mo

1* “Energy or matter can neither be created nor destroyed”, ergo it seems unthinkable that the end is really the end. Or at least we console ourselves with that thought. The finest, most lovely description of after-death I‘ve ever heard is in the tagged book in the chapter about great grandmother ‘s death.
2* Reincarnation v time travel-compatible or synonymous???
3* Is it possible to function without ego?Can one be successful without it?Are we⬇️

Eggs …born with it? How much ego is enough? That‘s more like 5 questions 🤔 #TLT curious about… 13mo

Velvetfur Oh that fascinates me about energy - the only thing animating this collection of bones, muscles etc is electrical impulses in the brain, and electricity doesn't die, so when we stop animating this lump of flesh surely we move on to somewhere else....? A new body, to start a new life all over again? That's how I think of it anyway! Thanks for the thought-inspiration for the day ☺️ 13mo
TheLudicReader My mom always used to say what you‘ve said in #1. ❤️ 13mo
Eggs @Velvetfur Thanks for your comment and insight 👏🏻👏🏻 13mo

dabbe #1: In one of the books I read that made me a doubter (50 REASONS PEOPLE GIVE FOR BELIEVING IN GOD), this idea was scientifically explained, and it made me feel so much better about death and my loved ones who are gone. Their energy is still here, just in a different form. That brings such solace to my 💜!
#s 2 and 3: #mindblown 🤩

TieDyeDude I should give Dandelion Wine another try. I was listening on audio just after we moved, but I think I was too distracted with chores and tasks. I fluctuate between fascinated and apprehensive over the idea of death. 13mo
Eggs @dabbe Death v Life so mystical…again I defer to reincarnation/time travel so deftly handled between Bill Forester and Helen Loomis in 13mo
Eggs @TieDyeDude I think the audiobook has its merits but only after reading it slowly and imagining its scenarios. I hope you enjoy 😊 13mo

1. A Mazda Miata named “My Blizz”––best car there is! 🤩
2. A 69‘ Mustang convertible. My friend Jeanne had a red one in high school. Cruising to get pizza for lunch with the top down, we‘d think nobody was cooler than us. #everyteensdream
3. The Mercedes that Axel Foley‘s “girl”friend drives in Beverly Hills Cop. #notmadethatwayanymore

Play and Share! 🖤💜🖤

xicanti The 69 Mustang convertible is my ultimate car—especially in orange with a black racing stripe! One drove by my house once and it seriously made my month. Everyone got tired of hearing about it. 14mo

Amiable Thanks for the tag! I‘m so not a car person. As long as it gets me where I want to go, I don‘t even notice what it is. 😀 One of my brothers bought a Lamborghini a few years ago. He was annoyed when I wasn‘t impressed and actually asked what that was. 😄 14mo

AnnR Thanks for the tag @dabbe. Fun question, although I never learned how to drive a stick shift. I think now I just prefer vehicles that are more utilitarian and hopefully comfortable. One notices ouchies on longer droves as the years go by. 14mo

kspenmoll I was surprised that I enjoyed this book as much as I did. 2y
GingerAntics @kspenmoll I am seriously loving this one. I loved the first two, but heard mixed-leaning-toward-negative reviews about this one. I am not getting anything negative from this one at all. 2y
kspenmoll @GingerAntics In my experience, her portrayal of a female with Autism is so accurate. 2y
GingerAntics @kspenmoll in mine as well. I swear, I feel like she‘s describing me. It‘s a joy to listen to, even the sad/hard/rage inducing parts. 2y
